We were there for pre-Theatre dinner. They got us in and out on time without seeming to rush. Drink menu, while not extensive, covered all the bases. Appetizers were OK; main courses were quite good. Wait staff was overworked and looked harried; but they did deliver. Valet parking at the Hotel Monaco was wonderful on a cold night.
I would recommend this place to others.

Restaurant is closing soon for renovations but they should have closed sooner. Limited menu, no specials, food very mediocre. Our waiter (Amir)was the only good thing about the whole experience.

The food itself was great - however my fiancée and I were very disappointed in the speed of service as well as the cost for the small portions. He ordered a burger, which was great - but for $20 it doesn't come with a side? Very disappointing. My soup/salad combination was good, but again, not much food for the money. I wouldn't recommend someone going here and expecting a large meal unless they want to pay more than what they normally would!

I stay at the Monaco every year at the RSNA conference and one of my favorite things to do is eat at the Southwater kitchen . The food is always amazing! I had mackerel and wild rice risotto and wanted to lick my plate it was so good. It is never noisy or crowded and the service is excellent. Go!

Four of us enjoyed our meals and the overall ambiance. Prices do not make this a "value" dining experience, however. Having dined here before, I can attest to the consistently high quality of the food. This restaurant is scheduled to close soon, to be replaced by a different concept.

There were 9 of us, and while some reported that the food was great (brisket and flat-iron steak), most of us were underwhelmed. Even our hamburger-loving teens said that the hamburger was "ok." The romaine salad was heavy with dressing. The one vegetarian option, listed solely as "zuchhini" was way too salty. The non-alcoholic beverage selections weren't listed on the beverage menu, so they had to run get a lunch menu to show us the offerings. One appetizer was forgotten and one dessert was forgotten, so the flow of being able to eat together was completely off. In both cases, it took 5-10 minutes to have the forgotten item served.

this was a very nice place to eat. We were a mix of adults and children, but we were treated with
courtesy and friendliness.
Our choices ranged from breakfast egg dishes to the usual chicken tenders for the kids, but all came correctly prepared and delicious .
A good spot for a get together, and situated just steps from the Chicago River.

We had breakfast here. I ordered the protein omelet and added cheese. It came with a generous portion of avocado on top and was delicious. It was not overly crowded when we went which was nice.

Amazingly Awesome from our specialty cocktails to our decadent desserts. The $40 dinner deal was what we did and got to share our items to get more to taste of the menu. I would go back just for linch, an argula salad n the tomato goat cheese soup!!! Yum

Lunch was awesome! PB&J grilled cheese with chips.
I've also been there in the past, and during winter they had amazing hot apple cider cocktails. Not sure if they still do. Good service.
Love this place and I'd go more if I were closer.

We came here for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday. The menu had a nice variety which included healthy options. We had bloody mary's and mimosa's which were delicious. Our server was very kind and did a good job of taking care of our needs and requests. Great location. I would highly recommend!

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I went on a whim and had breakfast which was fantastic. The food is well presented using very fresh ingredients. I actually went back for dinner and enjoyed my food just as much.

The menu attracted me to the restaurant and our choices did not disappoint. All three dishes (Mackerel, Lamb Chops and brisket) were perfectly cooked and seasoned, I wanted to lick the plate lol! The only let down is the non delivery of the charcuterie plate we ordered. I will return when in the area again.
