The food here is top notch. You won't get much better in downtown Edmonton. I come here for special occasions and am never disappointed.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Sorrentino’s Downtown. I like the upscale feel of this location while the prices are still reasonable. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Our waiter made an excellent suggestion for the red wine, but regrettably he informed me that the wine was supplied exclusively to Sorrentinos and not available in stores. The food was excellent. We started with a mushroom bruschetta and the fig & Brie bruschetta. I had the Beal Osso Buco, and it was delicious and fall off the bone tender, served with an excellent mushroom risotto. My companions had the Cannelloni and the Spaghetti Carbonara. They both enjoyed their dishes, although my wife said that the Carbonara was a bit light on the sauce. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the time there, and would definitely recommend enjoying a night out there soon.

Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed. They were severely understaffed. We came for my boyfriend’s birthday and nothing special was done, it wasn’t even acknowledged. We got there at 7:30 and didn’t get our dinner until after 9:00. The lobster rigatoni was underwhelming, extremely bland and boring. However, my boyfriend got the tenderloin and enjoyed it, it was cooked well. I don’t believe our server is at fault, he tried his best, gave a fabulous wine suggestion but was just overloaded. I feel as though I just spent $200 for nothing at this establishment and that’s not a great feeling to leave with. Also, no acknowledgment by managers about the food wait or the poor service times, and no offer of covering a drink or getting my boyfriend a birthday dessert to make up for it. Do better!
