Pan Seared Scallops*
Served over saffron corn lobster risotto
Classic Caesar Salad
Romaine heart, garlic croutons, shaved romano
Unfortunately we have experienced Sonoma in Princeton and this experience was just horrible. Clams Oreganoto were just dried breadcrumbs and no taste, scallops on lobster and corn risotto---scallops were good but risotto was paste and no corn. Very disappointing
The food was excellent, as it usually is. The atmosphere is upscale. Service was uneven. Our waiter was friendly enough, but we were ignored for long stretches. The wait time between courses was longer than usual. This was surprising because there were never more than four or five tables occupied at a time, and there were at least three wait staff working the evening. Perhaps a function of inexperienced staff? In any case, service ranked well below what we have experienced here in the past.
Great , tasting food. Welcoming server.
Well, it’s great to be able to bring my family members to a true dining experience.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Hmmm……I guess it’s not a lunch place
Made a reservation for our family of four to celebrate an anniversary, which we let them know. When we showed up we were greeted with “service would be slow because there are only two people in the kitchen”. We remembered Sonoma from the Princeton days so we decided to stay. After drinks that were not great, and ordering appetizers that were mediocre at best and wildly expensive, we decided to pay our check and leave. It was a terrible experience and a complete waste of time. This Sonoma is not the old Sonoma and is at best a not very good hotel restaurant now.
Service very poor, waited 20 minutes for waitress to come over to take our drink order, had to ask for bread. Food order took longer than it should have been. Very small menu, not a lot of choices. Food not as good as it use to be, average at best.
We have been to Sonoma fans since it’s origins in Princeton. We’ve been back a couple times since covid and we’re a little less than pleased with things overall. What used to be exceptional service is now just ok to non-existent (my husband got up and retrieved a steak knife from the serving station because we could not find anyone- even at the hostess station - to get one for me while my filet was getting cold. There is a limited wine menu… we selected a bottle, only to be told about 15 minutes later that they were out… I am guessing they were searching for it during that time. Not once did someone come over to see if our meals were ok. I understand there is a staffing shortage, but at the time we were there, I do not believe there were more than 5-6 parties dining. The server was taking care of parties indoors and outdoors… maybe that was part of the problem. The filet wa great… the rest of the experience, not so much. Our check was brought without even asking if we wanted dessert. When you pay the kind of money Sonoma is charging, there are certain expectations for level of service.
We tried three of the dishes on the very small menu and we're delighted with all of them. We dined outside on a lovely evening and enjoyed the meal and excellent service. The restaurant is close to a hospital, so the frequency of sirens is above average, but that was our only complaint.
It would have been more helpful to our party if we had known the menu was going to be limited to two sandwiches and salads.
We only found out the day of, too late to find anywhere else open. Poor show from a great restaurant
The food was excellent but a very small menu and one item was not available with the dinner as advertised. Very few diners… only a few tables were occupied. Very expensive and the restaurant looks like it’s going out of business!!!
Everything about our dinner was fabulous! We sat outside and throughly enjoyed our night at Sonoma.
Excellent meal. Had the place pretty much to ourselves.
Everything was delicious! We both tried the lamb and it was outstanding. We love this restaurant and it seems to be getting better and better. Whatever you are all doing - please keep it up!
We had a wonderful dinner. We sat on their beautiful patio and felt like we were away and not near home. The host recommended a new Rose wine they were featuring and it was clean, crisp, and refreshing. The Shrimp Cocktail was fresh and delicious and the Hummus which was homemade and prepared with very fresh and warm pita, carrots, and celery was excellent. We were impressed with how fresh and well presented they were and both appetizers were great. We both had the Halibut special and it was perfectly prepared. It was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully plated with a delcious potato accompanyment that was smooth and outstanding. The wait staff was also wonderful! We will absolutely return!
Loved sitting on the patio - beautiful setting. Had the hummus for an app and the chicken sandwich for lunch- yummy! Our server was very attentive and very nice. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful setting. Madeline was a very good server. She was attentive and met all our requests. Food was delicious. In addition to Madeline other staff execs checked on us. I am not sure of the gentleman’s title but he came out with our wine selection and offered another choice to consider. This was second visit to the patio dining and it will NOT be my last!
I love the outdoor seating at Sonoma and while understaffed, those who are working the floor are very nice. The food just doesn't measure up to the cost though. $57 for rack of lamb really should be the best rack of lamb in the universe not "fine" - I mean it wasn't bad it just wasn't worth the price point. I would recommend it for lunch or happy hour when offerings are at a lower price point.
Not the original Sonoma that we remembered. Food was barely warm, vegetable watery and covered the rest of the meal on one plate. The manager did try to make it right by providing dessert. Hoping that this was just a result of reopening after a long year.
Everything was great. We had the haddock and salmon entrees - delicious! Calamari, shrimp cocktail and hummus apps - outstanding. Carrot cake was wonderful. Only disappointment was mango sorbet - too sweet but promptly removed from check without me asking. Service was just about perfect!
So great to be back!
I looked forwarded to a family fine night out and as always we had a great time.
Good food service abs atmosphere...
thank you all
Always an incredible dining experience. Everything was perfect. The service and attentiveness is exceptional, and the food is outstanding. Every meal we have had there has been impeccable. The outdoor dining is absolutely perfect, we love the ambiance there. Sonoma is a true gem in Worcester and one of the very best in Central Mass.
Slow service. Didn't get what we ordered. Server really didn't care. Disappointing.
Ok. So here we go. My husband and I drove to Worcester to have a family reunion since we couldn’t be together during Covid.
We came in from Texas and made a reservation at Sonoma because we have had nothing but good memories of dinners there.
What. A. Mistake.
The service was slow, but we finally got our cocktails and water after 25 minutes. Put in an order for an appetizer and one caprese salad. Who knew that this would be our ONLY food.
We ordered entrees. Three were the same pasta, one salad with grilled salmon, and the last was a Thai seafood.
And then we waited. And waited. And waited.
I saw 3 parties served and billed. And waited.
After an hour and three quarters my sister went in to find out where our food was.....
A young man, not our server, showed up an said it would be a longer wait. What he didn’t know is that my brother in law and I have been in the business. They had not dropped our tickets.
He tried to explain that they had had 2 large parties and lacked the staff to fulfill our order in a timely basis. So....I explained to him he should not have booked so many reservations.
We left at 8:45 PM with no entrees.
None of us will ever return to Sonoma.
We dined outside and the weather was beautiful, the waitress was engaging in conversation on the menu items.
They were out of lobster, so did not have the lobster roll that was on the menu (specifically why we had come there) and the waitress did not mention that they did not have the lobster roll until we tried to order it. Very disappointing!
Wonderful outside space
Delicious food and excellent service - thank you Natalie! Look forward to returning soon.
We wanted to like Sonoma but unfortunately it disappointed. The food was not flavorful and was overcooked. No inspiration in any of the dishes we ordered. The server was nice but obviously understaffed and overwhelmed. We had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated and then our food took forever to come out. I would not recommend Sonoma.
Beautiful place, great service. The food was not what I expected. I’ve dined many times and had the best experiences, but this time the surf and turf was to dry and flavorless.
The food at Sonoma was very good, but I do feel it was a bit overpriced. The wait time for food to be brought out to the table took longer than anticipated. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the ambience in the restaurant was very nice. When I stay in the hotel I will definately eat there again, but not sure I would seek it out otherwise.
Sonoma used to be our GO TO for a "nice breakfast". We took my mom for an early Mother's Day last week. Place has gone "down hill". Front glass doors were disgusting dirty. Booth seats worn out/not far from torn. Tables are scarred. Honestly, it was gross. One waitress working. Disappeared in kitchen entire time. Another patron walked up to ask us if there was service. He had to go into kitchen to get her to place his order, to ask for something during his breakfast and then to get his check. She didn't write down order, took ours to memory. My mom and sister had "reasonable" requests to leave out vegetables / swap out bread. Neither got what they requested and it she didn't come back to see how our meal was. Food was just OK. Could have received better service at a local "diner". Was very disappointed that we chose Sonoma for my mom's special day. Wish we had taken her for a nice dinner somewhere else instead. I don't plan on going back every again. Wouldn't mind paying the $$$$ for a nice place/service/meal as we had always in past. Definitely not worth the $$$$ now.
The food was bland and not worth it for the price. The waiters and manager were very kind but I wouldn’t come back.
The outdoor seating was pleasant, the view semi-urban, the noise distant. Service was excellent: polite, timely, exactly what we ordered and requested. The food is quite good. My sausage was mostly fine, but a bit dry in a few places. The veggies on the sandwich were excellent. The caprese salad was excellent. The fries with the sandwiches were good; we brought some home and they reheated well. The wine was good. The vanilla ice cream was simple and well flavored. The prices are on the high side, but not excessive.
Food was outstanding & service was good. Very quiet and dimly lit.
Outstanding! This restaurant keeps getting better and better! Our dinners were fabulous. We enjoyed the Rack of Lamb, Scallops, and Scampi. All were beautifully prepared and delicious. The soups and appetizers were also excellent. Although the restaurant was busy, the service was impeccable. We can’t wait to come back.
I had great memories of Sonoma when it was a high end Restaurant in an unexpected Princeton location. This was not that: was an overpriced hotel restaurant with a bad staff.
The two manager types wore suits that made them look more like cartoon car salesmen than people that run a restaurant that sells $45 steaks or fresh oysters.
The server seemed new and totally inattentive. I couldn’t believe we didn’t get an apology when finally took our drink orders, he came right back but then disappeared again, we even finished that round.
We heard the table behind us ask for their check and leave without ordering food, I assumed I’d see that server soon but didn’t. He gave them their check and I had to flag him down. I nervously asked for the calamari app at the same time because I needed to eat something.
The drinks took a little while longer this time.
Maybe it was the manager #2 who made the before, and now he seemed to be reprimanding the server right next to us.
When we listened closer, it was the manager asking him how he thought things were going. We followed intently but regretted that we ordered the food.
We did get the calamari and drinks, and they were good (too much aioli maybe) but closed the tab. I wasn’t going to chance $70-80 entrees to this staff. Too bad.
Sonoma no more, looks like COVID did it to this restaurant irreperable damage: from greating the guests to serving bottle of champagne to billing for non existing items, its just aweful...
Everything was flawless. The food and service were outstanding. Love the ambiance and their outdoor patio, it’s absolutely breathtaking. Can’t wait to go back!
