Solace & The Moonlight Lounge
Brunch on Saturday: 10:30am - 3:30pm and Sunday 9:30am to 3pm;
Dinner: Monday - Tuesday: 4:00pm - 9:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 4:00pm - 11:00pm, Sunday: 3:00pm - 9:00pm
Food used to be so good. We would bring guests here from out of town because it was a consistent good place to bring them. It was horrible this last time. :(
ambiance is cool, service was excellent, food is awful.
Service was great... menu fair nothing too exciting flavors blah.. probably won’t return for a meal, but fun ambiance would return for drinks
Solace has become our go to spot for special occasions!
Solace and Moonlight Lounge never fails to impress! We've been here for dinner a few times, but this weekend we went for there brunch. They have a bunch of different items or you can order off their side menu. I opted for their cheese grits that came in a cute jar and egg whites. It was delicious! We'll definitely be back again for brunch and dinner, too!!!
Lovely setting. Yummy vegetarian main course. Phenomenal desserts. Good location. We walked to an event at the library afterwards. Great evening!
This is my second time at Moonlight and was disappointed that my experience is not consistent with my first time. We
ordered oysters, salad, and main dish (sea bass and pappardelle with lamb). They brought the salad first and completely forgot to bring the oysters. We had to remind our server because the main dishes arrived and the oysters were still missing. They served both together. The oysters were actually ready but they just didn’t bring them to the table. By the time we ate the main dishes, they were already cold.
Dessert also wasn’t as good as the first time. Ordered the bread pudding and coconut cake. Both of which were overly sweet.
Sat on patio--quiet table. Nice meal. Great service. fun!
Wonderful service and lots of delicious food choices.
The whole experience was great! The food, drinks and service were top notch! We just did heavy appetizers so we didn't get to experience dinner, but I'm sure it was great! The music was great and gave it a great feel. We will be back!
The brunch menu has some real winners... loved the salmon eggs Benedict, served on biscuits, with a delicious hollandaise type sauce. My daughter loved her smoked salmon toast, and my wife said her salmon salad was “perfect”. The Solace Bloody Mary was also a winner!
The bad news was that we were all very cold. The restaurant is very open, with an “indoor/ outdoor” feel, which is lovely on a warm day. But yesterday was chilly and very windy, and there was no escape from the elements. The ceiling fans were going full-blast on top of the wind, so it was pretty hard to stay warm.
We will mostly blame the weather, not the restaurant, and we’ll definitely be back.
We went for Sunday brunch for our anniversary. I had the bennies with squash and my husband had the fancy pants griddle cakes with cinnamon apple. Both were really good. We had a great view sitting out on the deck with the heaters . I would definitely go back for brunch.
We were seated 5 minutes before the end of Happy Hour. Our waitress made sure we could participate with a good glass of Tempranillo and a Chardonnay. The main entree of scallops was outstanding. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful.
Nice quiet table. 🙏 New menu! Pleasant surprise. Very good service. Delicious food 👍
Great place was on a date but have been here many of times..
I made a reservation for 8 for Sunday brunch. It was perfect for a large group! It was quiet enough that we could easily talk. This was my fourth visit and every time I have been it has been a good, mellow vibe
Great food, beverages, and service. Not many places serve beef tartare, and it was terrific. We were celebrating our 35th Anniversary with some friends and had a wonderful dinner. We can't wait to come back.
The food is consistently good. The service is good. Loud environment.
Band way too loud for a conversation so we are downstairs. The ambiance downstairs was ok but our server seemed less attentive. Still I’ll go back. I do enjoy this place quite a lot. I think in general live bands do a very poor job of taking into account the size and acoustics of the room they are playing in. Management should be in charge of assessing whether dinner conversation is possible and take charge of the situation if it isn’t. Don’t leave the band in charge of that. They like how they sound and will always be happy to play too loud. I was in a band. I know.
Solace is my favorite Mother’s Day place, so today I went with kids, even though the main consumer of their excellent oysters, my husband, was away. Daughter still enjoyed a couple of oysters (one was better than the other), and we ate from the brunch menu. My avocado toast was perfect, as was the salad. The teens both had the salmon toast, which was good but possibly over-toasted (too hard). There were also unexpected pine nuts on their food, which my daughter tries to avoid by association with her tree nut allergy. The kids had dessert, and I tasted some of the daughter’s caramel creme, which was amazing. Our server was very nice and efficient.
I like the outdoor ambiance, despite the train (be prepared for that). However, it would be nice if the succulents were not quite that covered in spider webs.
Date with my hubs was so nice. Our waitress Gina was awesome!!!
We love this spot. We brought our own wine which is a feature I really appreciate. But if you don't exercise that option, their wine list is great and they make some of the best cocktails anywhere. The real draw for us is the food. Just great all around.
Great place. Worth the drive from anywhere. Food is exceptional. Bring a good appetite!
Great food. Service is really good. Fast, friendly and genuinely nice people.
The meal was wonderful. I had the steak. It was grilled just the way I asked, medium rare. The small potatoes were very favorable as were the mushrooms. My friend had the Gem salad and raved at its taste. All in all I have been here before and will come again. Just delighted.
Our waitress was awesome, loved the live music. The food we soooo good. We had the mussels for an appetizer I had the Jadori citrus brined chicken, delicious! My husband had the jerk chicken wings and the beef tartar. We loved it all! We will definitely be back!
We think this is one of the best restaurants in San Diego
Dinner are all 10s
Solace is always one of those places where you can find a great spot in the restaurant to suit your needs whether for a loud group of vocal friends to a quiet outdoor table to conduct a bit of business. Outside table on the upstairs balcony was awesome!
Nice neighborhood go too spot with a nice Happy Hour. Good fish and all entrees well done.
Great food great ambiance.
Their brunch menu is rather limited and lacking. Also if you are going here for the outdoor patio, it is not stellar as you are overlooking the roof of a building :(
I don't think the quality is worth the $$.
This was my family’s first visit to this restaurant. We walked in individually. As a group of 5 including a baby, none of the adults were greeted. Until I walked up to the hostess stand did the two ladies look up and greet me. Once engaged, the hostesses were pleasant.
The server was lovely, great attitude. The food was decent, enjoyable. The Bloody Mary was pretty liquidity. My brother did care for it and the server took care of that.
On the way out, none of the hostesses engaged with any of us again, thanked us for coming or even a simple “Goodbye”.
We all found this very disappointing of this experience considering the first impression sets the tone for the visit.
Great place but server had attitude. Also took us 3 times to get a good table.
Always so delicious! Coconut cake is amazing! We’ve going to Solace for years and I’ve never been unhappy with anything!
We have gone there a couple of times now. From the outside it doesn't look like much. No view to write home about and you wonder if the food will be like most pubs, but there food is really well prepared. They have all kinds of unique liquors and specialty drinks, and some of the best meat and cheese trays. I think this is a great spot for any time of day.
Great food. My chicken was extremely tender and the best I have had in a long time. My wife wasn’t as thrilled with her pasta dish. The pork chop and burger were really good.
Maybe a few more dessert options would be great. Overall a great restaurant.
I've been to Solace many times and my experience this time was pretty much the same. It can get a little loud and there's not much privacy as the tables are quite close together. Our server was nice and very helpful, but once we'd ordered we didn't see her for a long time. The runner had to wander around until I waved him over, as I recognized the sea bass we'd both ordered. The food was quite good. Solace is in a convenient location and I enjoy it as a dependable option.
We always have a great dining experience at Solace. I recommend sitting upstairs.
brilliant. the waiter made the perfect food and wine recommendations and we had a great night
Overall ok experience and in line with the previous ones.
Not my first choice
Small portions, etc for the price
Jerica was very friendly and very helpful with the menu. It was are first there, every one that works there is friendly. We would definitely go back.
