Soif Wine Bar Restaurant
Soif offers over 40 wines by the glass from small, artisanal producers, as well as some 400 selections by the bottle from our wine shop, available to diners for $20 over retail price.
We find our delight in discovering distinctive, expressive wines, sourcing and preparing delicious, wholesome food, and then putting it all together so when guests walk in the door, night after night, there is something here for them that is authentic – that satisfies their thirst for the soulful, the delicious, and the well made.
It was great to have my birthday dinner at Soif! Loved the food as well as the service. Spot on.
It’s become our weekend date night regular spot. Love the food and the people💗
Always excellent! My friend and I shared shellfish soup, Caesar salad, a delectable salmon entree, topped off with a fabulous crepe dessert! Plenty of food for two!!!
Nick is an amazing server, we enjoyed everything!!
The staff was welcoming and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. The wine suggestions were spot on.
A nice place to meet with a delicious salad and glass of wine.
Fresh ingredients and great wine pairing. The service team seemed confused and made multiple mistakes (not checking us in and serving the wrong plate)
Wow. What a fantastic dinner! Varied menu with lots of fun, creative and beautiful dishes! Everything we ordered was spot on. Excited to come back soon!
Interesting and tasty food. Good mixed drinks.
Exceptional for Santa Cruz.
Prices are a bit high IMO... especially for Santa Cruz
Dede At the wine bar gave us excellent service our server Nate was professional and STEVEN was extremely personable we loved the experience and the food was fantastic
Came for the new menu, everything was fantastic. Duck was perfectly cooked. Ravioli was tender and the liquid it was placed in was delicious. Excellent wine pairings and great service. Would absolutely recommend.
Every dish was lovely. My friend and I shared a fabulous Caesar salad and delectable soup, a perfectly cooked salmon dish, and the best chocolate tart ever! Kudos!!! Plus, they've made the portions a bit bigger, which I appreciate.
We have dined at Soif numerous times and it is always consistently good. The menu is small but thoughtful. Service is friendly and efficient. Excellent wine choices and deserts.
Seafood chowder not flavorful, potatoes grainy, shortrib raviolli disappointing, pasta tough, fruit medley uninteresting. Best items were duck and olive oil cake. Bill was $180 for 2.
Another excellent meal from new chef at Soif
Our dinner last night was excellent. Soif continues to be the best restaurant in Santa Cruz. The option to buy wine in their shop for corkage is a superb deal. We had a terrific experience in every respect, right down to the cheese plate at the end.
I love Soif. I love to sit in the banquets where the wine bar is. Right by the window, and I love to watch the people walk by. Love to listen to the music on Monday night. The staff is so friendly, and the food is very good. I still miss the delicious delicious bread which used to be served for free before the meal. Now there is popcorn and although it’s flavored and it’s kind of fun the bread was so amazing.I understand there just isn’t enough of it. If you have never been to Soif please check it out. You’ll love it.
Food was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection. Great attention paid to accompaniments. Most of us at the table can be critical of restaurant food and all of us agreed there was nothing to be critical about.
Nate, our waiter, was incredibly attentive with a wonderfully pleasant personality.
I decided to celebrate my "big" birthday at Soif ~ I couldn't have made a better choice. The food was outstanding, the service was unbelievable, and the vibes in the restaurant with energy, laughter, and music was life-giving. I will be back!
Always a wonderful evening for us. The craft cocktails change regularly and are exceptional. The service is the best in Santa Cruz. From wine selection to course selection they are helpful, knowledgeable and experienced. You will never feel rush and will always feel well attended to. The food is delicious and the servings are appropriately sized for a long evening. Love this place.
The cocktails were excellent, the olive appetizer was huge, and my miso black cod dish was delicious. My husband ordered the burger & fries - burger was good, but the fries were under done and limp/soggy. We still ate them all anyways because they tasted good, they just needed a bit longer in the fryer. We ordered the olive oil cake for dessert and found it a tad dry but tasty.
Outstanding service-The waitress offered to let us customize our own wine flight-cheese tray to start was amazing-dinner and dessert was OK
Dining @ Soif was the perfect experience in every way. From the greeting at the podium all the way through dessert, Soif itself & the Soif staff created a comfortable and excellent dining experience.
Always a pleasure - delicious food, friendly service and an innovative wine list make this our go-to restaurant in Santa Cruz.
We had a bottle of wine and the cheese platter. It was a nice selection of cheese, and a good value. Great jazz combo on Mondays.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner date at Soif. The food was excellent-I had an amazing miso glazed cod dish (possibly the best fish dish I’ve ever had!) and my husband had a ravioli dish that he thought was good but lacked enough salt and seasonings in general but he didn’t dislike it. Our waitress was very friendly but not very attentive to our needs. She passed by our table almost every time we obviously needed to move on to the next course and waited too long to check on us. Other than that, we enjoyed our time at Soif. The ambiance is great and it is surely one of the better restaurants in Santa Cruz!
Our experience last night, as previous visits, was outstanding. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and the overall experience was excellent. I'm a sustainable fisheries advocate and a stickler for high quality seafood; and I ordered the miso-blackcod--a local fish, sustainably managed. It was also beautifully prepared -- fresh, moist, flavorful. Of course, there were many non-seafood items on the menu; and the only one of us who did not choose the blackcod happily savored the rib-eye. Together, it was a highly successful dinner. We'll be back for another!
We seldom remember to make reservations and head into town looking for a good place. We almost always end up here because we can get a couple seats at the bar and order from the regular dinner menu. We love the food here and the service is great and the manager has fab hair... and there are some primo mustaches to view as well! 😂. But seriously, the food here is creative and always memorable.
the waiter was great. the food was creative and very good. The servings were relatively small which was fine for us. it wasn’t busy yet so still quiet. Also the cocktails were creative and delicious
Definitly a wine bar but with great food. The waiter knew a lot about the wines we were deciding between and we chose 3 by the glass wines to taste with dinner. They were all wine club selections and all were delicious. We paired a pinot (young and crisp, very flavorful) and a Chenin blanc with our olives and a salad appertiser course. My wife enjoyed the pinot so much she stayed with it through our lamb and pork ragu pappardelli main (split). I chose a deep rich Cabernet to pair with the main and through our dessert (English toffee pudding). Everything was excellent. You could easily see that this was a locals hangout but they welcomed us as travellers too. Highly recommended by us. Reasonable cost for a very nice dining experience. High ceilings and wood floors but not overly loud. We would definitely go here again.
The menu differed quite radically from that on their website for the previous few days. The choice for those on a fodmap diet was very limited.
The service started badly when the first waiter had no idea what components were in each dish.
The second waiter almost retrieved the situation as he took pains to find out but fresh lemons are no replacement for preserved lemons ...they taste quite different.
A good waiter knows everything which goes into every dish on each day's menu.Regards
Given this restaurant comes out as one of the top three in Santa Cruz search we were disappointed. It was no better than normally at some neighbourhood tap bars.
Not impressed with our main server who told us they couldn't make plain pasta for our kids. The other server managed to get us plain pasta. Clearly our server hadn't tried very hard to help us also they made three mistakes in our order. food was good but not worth the money.
Not what it was...the food was over cooked and the servers not as well-versed in wines as they used to be.
We love going to Soif. Always accommodating and the food is always delicious and filling. Everyone who works there is wonderful too! Perfect place for a date night or large party gatherings.
Delicious, inspired food using fresh, local, high quality ingredients in a fun atmosphere. What' not to like?
We were visiting Santa Cruz for the first time, and finding a place like that just adds to the experience. Great wine collection and a creative menu (Clams with chorizo is a weird and great combination). I will definitely recommend.
My scallops were delicious, albeit it was a skimpy portion (3 scallops). For $34, I feel I should have gotten at least four. My friend had the duck, and it was more generously portioned. The environment is nice and the service is very good.
We had the Valentine's fixed menu, and enjoyed every bit of it!
We are fortunate to live locally and dine here pretty regularly. Soif has a deep wine selection and carefully hand-crafted cocktails. The menu is simple, but every dish is delectable. The service is always fantastic and the management very accommodating and courteous. One of the highlights of downtown Santa Cruz dining.
we love Soif: the wines are terrific and reasonably priced and the food is always very good. valentine's dinners are often less pleasant than usual as restaurants attempt to pack in as many people as possible and stretch their kitchens as well as their space. in contrast Soif was its usual pleasant self with a bit of specialness to the menu. and the now expanded space makes for a quieter ambiance which we much appreciated
