Soby’s New South Cuisine is an eclectic blend of contemporary continental cuisine infused with traditional Southern ingredients, transforming old favorites into something fresh and new. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Greenville, in a renovated cotton mill built in the 1800s.     Sob’s fried chicken with hot honey is truly the best in South Carolina and Main street was lovely on this Saturday night. Everything else was reliably delicious as well - braised short ribs, appetizers and for dessert their spectacular banana pie. Impressive wine list, excellent advice by sommelier and great, friendly and efficient service. The one thing I wish they would get a handle on is the frequently disappointing temperature of their dishes. Maybe the way from the kitchen is too long, maybe the dishes stand too long after being plated - the macaroni cheese for two of our three main courses came out less than lukewarm and so did one of the chicken parts. Our server very quickly remedied that, thank you again!

    Everything was perfect however the service was the best part!! Keri (our server) went above and beyond to make everything wonderful. She knew the menu and paired the best wine. Checked on us throughout and was delightful!

    We had reserved a booth a week or so ahead of time, but due to folks staying longer than expected or assignment error we’re not able to be accommodated. The restaurants’s concern for patron satisfaction resulted in an apology and a complimentary appetizer. Pretty classy. My wife had a simple Caesar Salad especially after the appetizer. I had the quail; though I’d try something different. I had forgotten that eating quail is like eating a parakeet. This bird was stuffed with an abundance of a tasty grit-like stuffing, which amounted to 90% of the volume. One has to be a fancier of such or adventurous. We will definitely return to this classy establishment

    Our food was excellent. Fried green tomato appetizer was a perfect beginning to the meal. Salmon was cooked to perfection and the crab cakes never disappoint. Pleasantly surprised there was chocolate creme brulee for dessert. Derek provided excellent service. Couldn’t have been happier with our Soby’s experience.

    Food was excellent our wait staff was rude when taking our order and not attentive. My assessment was he working too many tables. I really like Soby’s and Will chalk it up as a bad day for the wait staff. It’s one of Greenvilles top restaurants and one of my favorites. Will be back.

    We went there for brunch before a matinee at the Peace Center. We enjoyed a very tasty Soby’s Bloody Mary. It was spicy without being too hot. The crab cakes weee luscious with lots of crab, not duller. Shrimp and grits were very good but not spicy enough for me. The fried chicken was superb!! It was golden brown and crunchy with moist and tender meat inside. Service was excellent. Our server was attentive without being intrusive.

    This was not my first time at Toby's and it will not be my last. It is always consistent and the food is wonderful. There is something for everyone and they are very accommodating. Highly recommend.

    The food was delicious, as always. However, the server was terrible - she seemed very uninterested in waiting on us after she couldn’t upsell us to a higher priced entry or alcoholic beverage. When my husband said he couldn’t eat the stuffing because of the gluten, she had no solution except to charge us an additional $5 for more potatoes. What a shame she ruined our experience. We have been here many times and not sure if we will return.

    I understand it was Thanksgiving, but if you are going to be open dazzle for a Holiday. No Stout that was on the menu, food was good, but I left hungry, I ate the short ribs, my wife Thanksgiving plate. She had a tablespoon of cranberry sauce and equal amount of corn. So too many places for n Greenville to return.

    This was just a very average thanksgiving meal. We ordered the turkey dinner. The turkey was good; two pieces of white meat with gravy. The gravy was ordinary tasting; nothing special. The stuffing was edible but had weird spicing and was portioned out onto the plate with an ice cream scoop. The presentation of a lump of stuffing was disappointing for a highly rated restaurant. String beans were ok. The corn "mush" was not very good. This meal came across as a busy restaurant serving a large group institutional style. I would not recommend Soby's for a thanksgiving meal.

    We had Thanksgiving Lunch at Soby's. The service was excellent. I had the beef short rib served with grits and carrots. It was excellent. My spouse had the Thanksgiving turkey dinner with dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and green beans. The sliced turkey breast was good, but the dressing was too salty.

    The advertisement said Thanksgiving Buffet so we were thinking it would be like last year. Unfortunately it was not. The meal was only fair and it was not worth the money. We were very disappointed.

    We had a delightful dinner at Soby’s, upstairs, overlooking the kitchen. We had only eaten upstairs once before during a Food Tour. We enjoyed it so much, we’ll likely request it again. Our server, Heather, was delightful and the wine steward, Kate, steered us towards a California Pinot Noir that we loved. We always enjoy dining at Soby’s.
