Food and service was good, but music was too loud in the restaurant area...I felt I had to shout when having a conversation.
We were ignored and eventually left without ordering.
Arrived and taken to our table, not left with a menu and no drinks order taken.
We were then ignored by waiting staff who weren’t particularly busy judging by the number of staff hanging around.
We eventually left and went elsewhere.
Clearly they weren’t affected by the pandemic.
As various Trip Advisor and Google reviews say, terrible service, best avoided
Food was delicious, for a simple burger, nicest I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, despite it not being busy on a Friday night, they had loads of staff but no consistency in them serving specific tables, therefore, we were never checked again once we got our food for more drinks or dessert menu without us having to prompt. Asked for recommendations for the dessert and to explain some of it, the server was very poor in knowing what or how to sell it so we didn't order anything. Server didn't even know what sweetener was either and just a general sense of confusion with all the staff. Venue is really nice, and food good, but considering times are tough, and people need jobs, appreciate that they may have lots of new staff, but they need to get the basics right in training good waiting staff, it was frustrating to see so many missed opportunities this restaurant is lacking in, when all they need is to invest in more efficient customer service training. The staff should also understand and know the menu being offered. The male waiter literally couldn't describe anything properly of what was on the dessert menu, and this just made us disinterested. Restrooms were bit scruffy too, considering again the number of staff on that night and the lack of capacity. Sloppy standards, and has potential to be great.
We sat outside, it was busy so the noise level was quite high as there were many people walking along the canal.
The waitress came quite quickly but didn’t get the drinks order exactly right but changed it when asked.
The food was hot when it was served - my roast pork was delicious as was the veggie option.
The accompanying vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were nicely presented. All round enjoyable meal.
Food amazing, service was good but there is almost no light, you cannot see the food…
Absolutely amazing, the food and drinks was great.
Great staff and beautiful setting
Nice atmosphere but really average food seriously overpriced. Catch of the day sea bream was full of bones, not great for a seafood restaurant. Definitely will not be going back.
Great food and service, good atmosphere, would recommend!
Fantastic food attentive helpful staff. Highly recommend
Smith's has a very nice location by the canal near Paddington station. Nice for a drink, not so exciting when it comes to meals.
It was a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make recommendations. You guys definitely know how to offer a 100% unforgettable experience to a customer. Congratulations!
Great food and service. Very pricey. Octopus was £23 and cones with no carbs on the plate. I should have checked - or been asked - if we needed something on the side.
Wine is pricey. Seafood over cooked. Beef carpaccio is worth a try
All over fairly good but music too loud and became irritating.
Food was good, service was TERRIBLE!
No one know nothing about the menu.. we change waiters like 4 times in 10 minutes because of we asked something about menu. The manager was only on the phone. Just a colombian waiter was all night with us. Of course, he have to learn more but was so kindly, friendly and attentive.
No Sauvignon blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand as a glass which is silly, poussin breast was dry, had to ask for two lots of gravy (which was delicious), better to do spatchcock and serve it halved, maintains more moisture? Salman and crab Starter was good but lacked crab. My friend’s steak was great. Go for the steaks and meat.
The food was horrendous! I ordered the lam cutlets, it had a terrible odour and it was grey when I cut into it, I already knew it was awful but tried it, I could barely swallow it. My fiancé got the fillet steak, it was raw cold, no peppercorn sauce accompanied as described on the menus. The whole thing was a disaster! This is the first time I have ever had to send food back, having said this the service was nice.
I think we were served by Craig ( Lovely young man with Red hair) he was brilliant and made our visit very enjoyable. The food was divine.
Been to Smith's Bar not quite good enough to tempt me back.
Will definitely be back!lovely food, drinks a perfect service
Very enjoyable canalside brunch with friendly service.
Perfect for exploring Little Venice and catching a train from Paddington.
Delicious food and a great range of options
Menue is limited but what they do is good quality. We ended up just ordering selection of starters, bread and salad and glad we did as we had an enjoyable lunch
Great location, amazing food and great staff!!!!!!
Waiters take good care of you! Absolutely fantastic food, lovely drinks, lovely setting.
Mediocre quality food at obscenely high prices
The menu looked delicious, but unfortunately none of the food lived up to its descriptions. The tuna tartare was grey and a very small portion, the beef carpaccio consisted of dry slabs of meat doused with far too much mayonnaise. The lamb cutlets were very small portions and over-cooked (even when ordered as medium-rare) and the side of roast potatoes looked and tasted as though they had come from the freezer and warmed up in the microwave. We would have been far more forgiving of all this if the bill hadn’t come to over £160 for 3 people, with no desserts ordered and only 1 person drinking.
We found the food up to standard, but service was slow. At the end of our stay, we were advised that our waiter was training, which we completely understand and did not complain about him. However, with service so slow and basic things forgotten (waiting 15 mins for bill, and having to ask again for it which was met with surprise as though we hadn’t already asked), we would suggest maybe a trainee shadows for a little longer before going solo?
The restaurant was not busy but we found the experience was spoilt by staff seeming uninformed and slow service.
We had two young children with us, asked to order a children’s menu option which we’d seen on the app and this was met with confusion. We also found that we were charged more for the children’s meals than the set kids menu on the website.
Amazing experience, exceptional food!!! Perfect location with breathtaking view.
Had a lovely meal, great location, staff were lovely.
The wine menu wasn’t very good but otherwise a good lunch
Food was great, good service and great location :)
Waited 30+ mins for food, was cold when it arrived . Booked for my partner’s birthday. Table wasn’t even ready. He actually had to go to the bar to get his own drink as the waiters totally forgot about us. Ended up leaving early.
New discovery, lovely location in Paddington basin
We were warmly welcomed and had a choice of seating. The menu choices were good and the dishes were good. The service, however, was really chaotic although each person we spoke to were polite and helpful but it didn’t translate into efficiency.
I thought the chairs outside were too low for the table when eating.
The service was lovely with a great view (gorgeous waiter , don’t know his name). Thank you for amazing service and lovely food.
Service was really poor. It took ages to get anyone’s attention and several times when we finally did, we were told they couldn’t take our order and they’d get some one else and the someone else didn’t appear either. We had to get up and explicitly ask staff to take our order twice. The female waitress appeared new as it was a slow tedious process for to her to understand what we were ordering. A shame as they food was lovely but wouldn’t come back because of the service.
We went for the 3 course promo lunch and it’s great value for money! The staff and atmosphere was great. Perfect spot for a canal side lunch.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food was of a very high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
really great experience thank you
we will return in future
Overall the service was great! Made extra special for my friend celebrating their birthday! Will definitely come back!
