Definitely recommend. Food is delicious and the view of the Bay Bridge is amazing!
We’ve been to slanted door many times. A party of 6 went this past Thursday. The menu was explained well to us. We order 4 cocktails which never arrived despite asking the waiter half way through the meal. He admitted he forgot and would get them straight away. Still never arrived. We were told to order eg ribs and hot towels would be provided - once again never came. Finally 20 mins after finishing our meal and still no waiter with drinks or dessert menu we decided to ask for check. Again we got an apology for forgetting drinks. High end restaurants that provide so a poor experience would normally comp and entry or give a gesture of a discount on the bill. Honestly so disappointed by the whole experience
Se will not el repeat
My experience at the Slanted Door is always delightful, delicious and lovely.
the aperitive arrive perfect and where delicious, but the main course arrive 40 minute later and the meat was rare, when we order medium well, so we have to wait another 10 minutes. The watier was mising in action during all the time.
The food and service is always wonderful. Yes on the pricey side but nice for a special occasion and the cocktails are amazing!
Fantastic as always. Great service and the food is truly amazing and very innovative. We look forward to coming here every time we are in town.
There was nothing to complain about. Yelp reviews talk about slow service. We experienced great service. Drinks, appetizers and entrees arrived on time. The food was excellent. Cocktails were very good. Dessert was surprisingly good(we ordered churros).
It was crowded with tourists and loud but we would return again.
Outstanding lunch at one of our favorite places !
Awesome dinner! Thanks
Food was awesome, service was marginal. Our waiter was rude and impatient.
I had not been to The Slanted Door in about 5 years and the food is still outstanding! We enjoyed every course. The service was excellent and I appreciate that they did not rush us through our meal. They gave us plenty of time in between each course.
Delicious! Will come again when we’re in the city.
Shaking Beef was $42. Asked for Medium Rare it was cooked Medium Well. Ruined the flavor. Waitress was nowhere to be found to ask for a new dish. Last visit was FAR FAR superior. We had an excellent waiter and food. Would not recommend at this time.
Birthday lunch at USA top rated Vietnamese restaurant was disappointing
Service felt offhand and hurried
Food was just not very good at all
The expensive prawn dish was the worst. The prawns had a distinct bleach flavour
Overall there was little or no fresh lime/chilli/coriander flavour that we have grown to love in our favourite restaurant back home
An expensive uninspired lunch!
As always, the food was innovative and delicious. It was a cold night and, as we were seated by the window, I had to keep my coat on. The restaurant is very lively and loud--okay for two, maybe four at a table only. I was a little disappointed in the signature Shaking Beef--wonderful meat but not as interesting as the delicious hoba noodle dish, the ahi tartare and the green papaya salad that we also ordered.
The restaurant was freezing and they couldn’t turn off the air that was blowing in our heads. We had to move tables. They were super busy (which is normal for them) and it took awhile to get our waiter’s attention. Food is very good but all of us felt it wasn’t a great overall dining experience.
Food was fantastic. I always order the Slanted Door spring rolls and they never disappoint.
Great food, great service, especially the bar. The noise level is unbearable, even at 10p on a Wednesday night. Impossible to have a conversation.
Great service and great meal.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city, but absolutely hate the new credit card process that doesn't allow for a printed reciept - ugh... will need to take my business dinners elsewhere until this is fixed.
Food was lovely! Noisy and a bit crowded. I’m annoyed that 20% was calculated to include the tax and total so that instead of giving $70 they waitress got tipped $100. But they have great desserts and dishes.
Food amazing, service little confused, they changed the dishes , long delay to serve, but the food worths
The staff is incredibly ride and arrogant. I have historically been a big fan of this restaurant, but the host desk is so incredibly poorly mannered that i will not be back and i will share my experiences broadly.
Great food, outstanding service and killer views!
The luster is off of this one-time SF Vietnamese anchor. While it certainly bears no resemblance to it’s forefather years ago on Mission Street we experienced the following: attitude at the concierge, rubbery ribs, way too long to get main courses on the table, generally slow service.
When the mains arrived they were good.
The type font on the menu is so small it looks like an error and impossible to read in a dark restaurant.
I’ve been coming to Slanted Door nearly once a year for years...not sure I will go back.
The hosts are so unpleasant that it is hard to even want to get seated in this one time great restaurant. So past its prime. Terrible experience.
I had booked a table for 6 people. Upon arrival, I mentioned we were actually 7 people, as my brother wanted to join this family lunch. The receptionist didn't receive this very well, and told us that this means we need to get a fixed menu (instead of a la carte).
The lunch ended up being too much food, $100 per person, with a forced 20% gratuity, although we didn't even order alcoholic drinks! This was too pricey and unnecessary for my family. We simply wanted an easy-going lunch.
Had spicy squid , was good but over priced. Spring rolls were excellent
We were the first couple of people seated at 11:30. We didn’t get our first appetizer until an hour later and then had to rush to finish the last two dishes that came at 12:45, in order to get out at 1:00. The server at one point walked the other way when she saw my guest rise to ask about our order. No one asked us if the food was good. When the last dish arrived, which is listed as an appetizer, she said she would comp us for it. Small consideration... at one point a server was annoyed that I asked for more hot water for my tea.
When asked about poor service the excuse was that they were super busy. I’m a local, the restaurants is always busy.
I was embarrassed and beyond disappointed because I so highly recommended this restaurant to my out of town guest. Completely dissatisfied. And, nobody cared.
Slow service, rude staff, just OK food, big bill and stupid credit card machine. The worst restaurant experience i have had in a very long time.
Ate dinner here second time in ten days. Same great food, same great service, same fantastic view of the Bay Bridge from the booth. The whole fish Asian-style is my favorite entree and got to have the cotton candy confection plate as a reward. Recommend the Ghostwriter Pinot Noir from Santa Cruz to enjoy all the delectable flavors and senses provided.
I went to Slanted Door with my daughter to celebrate her special day. I requested a special desert and NO PEANUTS to any dishes we ordered. The very first dish brought to the table was Grapefruits and Jicama salad. After my daughter had a couple of mouth full, she detected peanuts in the salad because she begun having reactions to peanuts in her mouth. We could also visually detect finely chopped peanuts on a couple of sliced gratefruits. I told our waitress, and she said she would check it up in the kitchen. When she returned, she never gave us a clear answer to what had happened and instead she brought us a fresh salad and said it was on her. We found it a nice gesture, but no manager or kitchen chef came to explain the matter: Hush, hush, it was all pushed under the rug as if it didn't happen. My daughter's peanuts allergy is extremely sever and in the worst case, she could die from it before she gets to the emergency. Two remaining orders never arrived until we reminded of them to the waitress and meanwhile my daughter had to walk back to the car to feed the meter two times. To make our dining experience worse, the waitress forgot about the house treat (the special desert of cotton candy) to celebrate our memorable day. Both my daughter and I left the restaurant in disgust. What a day!
The food and service were excellent! We had an exceptional waitress as well. The downside is that the food is overpriced.
Not what it used to be.
Server forgot our appetizer and only brought main dishes, but not all 4 at the same time. Food was tasty but was cold when it got to our table.
The whole thing felt rushed.
The food was tasty; however, the service was very strange and not consistent.
it's not what it used to be but still a good standby. from beat up bathrooms to a drafty main dining room Slanted Door has lost some of its luster. that said, it's still fun, the location is beautiful and the food is pretty good. service is great.
I don’t think I or my guests have been more frozen on our life before during dinner. There was an article wind blowing through the corner of the dining room that no one would do anything about. It destroyed the entire meal for all of us. It is highly unlikely we will ever go back. The food might be nice, but just not worth it. This is a recurrent problem!!!
I've always loved the Slanted Door and we had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's birthday. They manage all the details beautifully. I can't say I was as blown away by the food as I was in the past, but it was all very well prepared.
Birthday meal was great food and service!!
