Skyloft Ratings and Reviews
Took my wife for Valentines last minute. Thank goodness for Open Table! Sat inside where the band plays. Filet, Lobster, Gumbo, Salad and WINE. Enjoyed a romantic glass of wine on the rooftop view of Laguna Main Beach. After dinner the band came out and we didn't even have to move. Great management. We will go back. Don
It was a great time for our first time.
We were both celebrating our birthdays.
The reggae band and the live band were both fantastic.
We both felt very safe there dancing !
Lots of security all around us ! Love that!
Staff were very friendly and we even made some friends. Next time we would like to eat on the deck but it was too cold that night but we definitely will come back in the summer!
We had a great time! Arrived for a 630pm dinner reservation and enjoyed the reggae band that was performing. I had the stuffed avocado, very nice. My husband had the jambalaya, it was very tasty. My brother had the full rack of ribs and said it was delicious. We then stayed on for the evening performer, and R&B band, again very good. We drank and danced and really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be back!
First time visiting this restaurant and our group was celebrating an anniversary. We had reservations and we were seated within a couple of minutes after arriving. After we were seated, it took a very long time for a server to greet us and take any drink orders. The restaurant was not crowded, but it seemed a little unorganized. A server eventually came to our table and asked if we had been helped. When I said no, she was obviously frustrated and said she would find our server. She did take our drink order, then there was another very long delay in receiving our drinks. Sometime later another server came to our table and said he would be taking care of us. Besides the sloooow start, everything else was fantastic. Great tasting food and the entertainment was fun and lively. Plenty of room for seating with a nice sized dance floor.
Well, Laguna Beach is a victim of it's own success. People with loud toys violate the purpose of the beach. It doesn't make sense for people who want the ocean sound waves to permeate the air, while dining at a nice place, but instead a roar of a Harley or wrongly tuned engine groans.
We went for brunch and loved the view and the food was excellent. Especially the corn muffins. I think they were the best I’ve ever had in my life.. It’s unfortunate the service wasn’t up to snuff. It was almost like there wasn’t a manager on duty making sure everything went well. We waited forever for our server, then he disappeared after delivering our drink order. Another waitress appeared and she said she was taking over.. she was hardly ever there and we sat for long periods of time without service. Then she came over and said a third server was taking her place and he basically brought us our check. I don’t think they ever cleared our dirty plates. It was ridiculous. And the roof deck was half empty too. However, I will still go back because the food and view were great.
Arrived and wAs told reservations are not for upstairs deck. I’m not a local, so maybe that’s silly but I had no clue and there was no info online stating that you couldn’t make reservations for top deck. Was treated very rudely by staff and would never go back.
Went for dinner with friends. Sat down at 7:30. Waiter (Nick) was training a new staff member. He rarely checked back with us after getting our first cocktail order, which arrived and was wrong. No offer of water for the table (standard expectation). We ordered appetizers which took awhile but the food was very good. Around 8:45 we overheard a waitress say they were out of ribs so we asked flagged down the trainee and he said he would check. He didn't return until 10 minutes later with our waiter. So at 9pm our server came back to take our order. At that point they were out of dish 3 of us planned to order (ribs). So two of us ordered dinner, the other three decided not to order. It's pretty standard that if a restaurant is running low on a dish to let the customers know ahead of time.
It was extremely poor service all night. I'd like to say this was isolated but I saw a lot of staff standing around. And at the start of the evening, even the hostesses were all chatting at the counter and when I came up for my reservation it was like I was interrupting them.
It's a shame because the location is great, it's nice inside, and the little bit of food I did try was very good. But the poor service really ruined what was to suppose to be a nice night out with friends.
It was an outstanding experience overall. The open air lounge style restaurant with a view of the Pacific coupled with a coconut/blueberry mojito created an unforgettable souvenir. The food quality was superb but each one in our group of 14 received his plate at different times. So we ended up having dinner one by one instead of sharing the mral experience.
Hanging out with family and we went to Skyloft to please the group. Food was decent! We’d come again with friends but probably wouldn’t choose to come just on our own. Beware! Called Skyloft because it’s on the second floor. They have an elevator but it was broken while we were here which caused problems for my father who has mobility issues. Server was phenomenal - attentive and open to dislikes of food. They offered a quick replacement for the corn bread (had a finish not appreciated by our table) for fries which were delish!
It was an early dinner so we could enjoy our food and friends before the Reggae group started at 5pm. Everything was great and the service and the music was terrific, got a few dances in and will most definitely be back!
We will, however, NOT BOOK using Open Table EVER AGAIN, ANYWHERE. They just cheated me out of $25 (2,500 points) through their points redemption change imposed last month. This had nothing to do with the restaurant, they tried to accommodate us, but OPEN TABLE declined the fake MasterCard they issued. Open Table had been a good resource for identifying restaurants around the country for me, but I will actually avoid restaurants that book through Open Table unless they retrieve the $25 balance due me.
Made a reservation but actually ended up getting a table on the rooftop. Great view and drinks were poured well. A little pricey on the menu but the portions were large and I didn’t feel the pain in the wallet due to this.
Recommend the turkey and smoked bacon sandwich or the brisket sandwich
We did not know what to expect from the restaurant. My wife and I were just looking for a new place to go on a date. We were surprised by the taste and quality of the food. Rarely do you find restaurant gumbo with okra but their gumbo had okra and tons of flavor. We choose the sampler platter. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. The brisket could be cut with a fork and the chicken highly seasoned. A choice of meat sauces increased the variety of flavors. COle slaw and potato salad were also included.
The waitress was attentive, pleasant and responsive. I am sorry I can't remember her name but she was reassigned to the restaurant and front reservation desk for Saturday evening. She continuously smiled and offered help with navigating the drink and dinner menus.
We made a reservation through OpenTable, knowing it only reserved tables inside the main dining room - but decided to arrive early and see about the rooftop seating availablity (1st come, 1st serve). We spoke to the host and he personally walked us up to the roof, talked to the waitresses and finagled the "best seat in the house" in the front north/west corner of the rooftop eating area.
The waitress (Dena) was phenomenal. She knows her beers and cocktails (we overheard her talking to other tables), but we stuck to wine. She did not rush us, in fact encouraged us to take our time (we were there celebrating our first wedding anniversary). We ordered each aspect of our meal individually and ended up staying past sunset - wonderful views, temperature was temperate, except for the cesar salad (not enough flavor) we loved our food (brussel sprouts, filet, salmon, chocolate decadence) and had an overall fantastic and memorable dinner together to celebrate US.
To top off our evening and the wonderful staff we encountered - the host who found us a nice table on the roof came back to check to make sure we were having a great time - very personable (and remembered our names from the original reservation I made). Loved it!
The food was every bit as described...excellent. I had the beef biscuit sliders, which melted in your mouth. My husband had the ribs, also outshanding. They have a wonderful outdoor dining space on their roof. They don't take reservations for the roof top...first come first served. Obviously, this isn't the case. We arrived early hoping to snag an outdoor seat. Unfortunately, half the deck was reserved for a large party.....on the other half of the deck there were open tables....also being reserved....hmmm. How disappointing. The main floor dining had a live band playing. There was no way to be able to sit and have any conversation, and enjoy the wonderful meal. The band was earsplitingly loud. The waitstaff was knowledgeable, and attentive.
