What a fun evening! We went to Skyloft after the play at the Laguna Playhouse. We had reservations downstairs, but they had room for us on the roof so we moved there. Good beer - two local IPA's on tap, great service (Thanks, Mike and Kristen!) and some really interesting food. Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, Avocado Toast, Jambalaya were all great. Wonderful night view, conversationally quiet - great place to hang out. Then, on the way down, we stopped at the bar to listen to the band - and they were pretty darned good! Hung out a while longer. Great evening, will go back for sure.
This was a reservation for my friend’s birthday, and I was very disappointed with the service. We were basically treated as a walk-in party. I will think twice before making a group reservation here again since they just weren’t very accommodating at all.
We approached the hostess to be seated at our scheduled time slot. She was very unfriendly and EVEN LESS helpful. She told us to go upstairs to see if there was a table UP THERE. When we returned to the hostess desk she sat us in the loudest room at bar stools. We asked to be seated in the main dining room and was told we only had until 9:00 for use of that table. The room was FREEZING. The menu adequate and food minimal. Hardly any decent choices for vegetarians. WILL NEVER GO BACK.
The host were very polite . The bar tenders were attentive . The food took a little bit longer than normal . There was only one item that was not available the gumbo, which is what our guest wanted to order . The view was amazing and it made the wait for food fine. The band was a interesting .
Our waiters were great, although we were not sure why they switched waiters on us halfway through the dining. We saw him working at other tables after. The food was great, although it was more on the pricey side. We loved the jambalaya. We loved the live music and great views of the ocean.
We had issues with the hostess, however. We had a large group and she was not accomodating to us, eventhough we made reservations for two groups of 6 and 8 people prior. We wanted to sit in the same area, but she moved one of our group to another small private room. I feel that she must have not like small children (we had 4 in our group) or was annoyed by us, since she gave us a little attitude about sitting in the same area. Her reasons was that there was not enough space for our two groups to be in one area. However, two hours passed and the tables around us in both areas were empty. We were disapointed that she did not accomodate to us for whatever reasons.
We would like to give this place a chance again, but the hostess left a sour feeling with us. Hope this review helps with improving the services and dining experiences for others.
Out-of-towner looking for an outdoor space for dinner with vegetarian fare. I made a reservation for 9:30 on the rooftop deck and when we arrived they said the Skyloft closed at 10. I would make the latest reservation available for 9:00pm in order to be able to enjoy a quick bite. With the option of only a 30-minute window for dinner, we ended up eating in the main restaurant, which had a band and lacked ambiance. Our server went on break before we receive our meal and the server who was supposed to be subbing either wasn't made aware of us or was slacking. We had to inquire about our food and after waiting 15 minutes for drinks, we went to the bar to retrieve them ourselves. The vegetarian tamale was amazing.
Had a great time, sat on the rooftop which has a beautiful view. Only problem is that they took the umbrellas down 2 hours before sunset so half our party spent the most of our meal looking into a blazing sun. When we asked them to put the umbrella back they said it was restaurant policy to take the umbrellas down that early. Wish they had waited til sunset to put down the umbrella so we could have enjoyed our meal like most restaurants do. You can still see the sunset with the umbrellas up, but it would have made for a better experience.
Prompt service is a normal at the Skyloft. You cannot go wrong with their menu. The brisket sandwich is juicy, well-balanced, and flavorful. The stuffed avocado is to die for. Even the Mac and cheese is incredible. Eat here! *Also, their mixed drinks are refreshing and mixed perfectly.
Love this place. Food and ambiance great. Always a lovely experience.
Had family visiting and had a great night out in Laguna
Good food selection. They were very accommodating for dairy/gluten free requirements. The service was excellent. We were pretty bummed that we had made a reservation and assumed we would get the roof top patio but would have to wait half and hour to get one of those tables and then miss the sunset- which was the whole point of going there and making a 7:30 reservation.
Terrible bar food. No view of the water. An overworked waiter. Bad live music. It was not a good scene.
Skyloft is my go-to spot in Laguna Beach! You definitely don't have to sacrifice the quality of your food for the view, which I feel like happens a lot for oceanfront restaurants. And you cannot beat the prices. They have the best happy hour, super affordable and pretty extensive menu to choose from. I've had almost everything on the happy hour menu and a handful of items from the breakfast/lunch/dinner menus and literally have not been disappointed once. All around 10/10 :)
A nice and fun place to go and chill We were with our daughter and son in law and we were just there to have a nice relaxing evening.
The host and the view were amazing, we had a great table. The wait staff and the food have always been sub-par, and it hasn't improved still. Go for the view and a drink - not to eat.
My new favorite place to eat in laguna. Go give this place a try. Excellent place!
Music was great, but super loud. Ambience was very noisy - even at 6 pm. Food was good. Service was slow - and they weren’t super busy. Would still come back. Rated good.
My friend brought me in for Lunch. She has been there before and recommended we go.
I had the Kale salad and rib lunch. Very delicious! She had chicken wraps and Brussel Sprouts.
I tasted the Brussel sprouts and loved them! The Beer selection is good. Out server was very nice and informative. The servers have additional information on the beer/drinks. Just ask.
He really made our day. The view was great. I faced the hills of Laguna, and found that nice to watch as well as the beach view. We were at the top floor. Highly recomend.
Food quality was pretty mediocre and choices not that innovative or creative. Drinks were good. Service was adequate.
Excellent food, and our server Matt was a gem. We'd like to go back for the rooftop dining experience when the weather is better.
We live in Laguna Beach and this was the worst meal we have ever had in town. We ordered the fish and chips, breaded fish sticks were incredibly dry and tasteless. The dinner was served in a very small basket which made it impossible to cut. I guess it was meant to eat with your fingers, but the “fish” had been deep fried and was hot. We should have sent the food back, but the restaurant was very busy. We have eaten at Skyloft several times in the past, and have had good food. I hope this doesn’t meant a decline in quality!
Skyloft is advertised as waterfront dinning but we were disappointed to find that only about two tables were anywhere near a view of the water, neither were the tables that we were seated at.
I got the tri-tip pot pie, which was very tasty, with my standby cosmo. We ate downstairs, but wish we had arrived a little earlier and dined upstairs at sunset. The upstairs could use an alternate to the blinding floodlights reflecting from behind the balcony glass. My friend ordered the s’mores bread pudding for dessert, which was perhaps good in concept, but not great in execution. Would have been better if it was a moist bread pudding instead.
Rooftop always wonderful ambiance from ocean surf to a very “cozy” feeling of surrounding hills and homes. Good day or night. Albondigas soup , perfectly spiced. Fresh corn chowder, surprising tender and light calamari - again lightly spiced ( not hot, just savory!), Also try the rolling lettuce shrimp appetizer - fresh and really delicious. Great combo of view and good food with portions large enough to split so you can taste several things. Enjoy and explore!
Amazing views good food and friendly staff.
Great spot! The food was very good. The rooftop view fantastic!
Happy hour here is great with specials on drinks and food. Great view from the roof too.
Great food and great service as usual, very loud atmosphere. I could not hear across my own table. Given a Saturday night, it was expected, but regardless, the excessive noise detracted from my overall experience
surfed during the day, had a great experience with family in the afternoon at Skyloft! perfect for every occasion, will be returning soon!
Worse experience in dining and service ever experienced. First were stuck in their elevator then only to experience really slow and agonizing service.
Way too noisy but great bar to watch the game!
The view is the highlight. Drinks are $$. A cosmo is $15!
First time at the restaurant. Had a drink on the roof top which was great. Nice ambiance and great service. Went down to the restaurant for dinner. Got our table and no service for at least 10 minutes. My wife and I finally moved to the bar where we sat and got great service. I thought the food was Ok. I will give it another chance. They had a female singer who was really good. I am not negative (except for the service) and will try the food one more time.
6 of us had various $12 lunch combos. I had 1/2 brisket sandwich and criss cross chips. There was very little meat on it. The chips were good but I didn’t like the sandwich. The Rotary Club was there and it was noisy.
I probably won’t go back.
The waitress was excellent and attentive. The hostess seating when we got there did not seem to enjoy working there, They had a band playing as well as music coming on the overhead speakers. It was hard to have a pleasant Mother's Day dinner. I would not go back,
We had a large party so we couldn't wait for a table upstairs on the roof. We were in a fairly plain, non-descript room inside but the service was great and the food was outstanding. With a smaller group, we'd definitely wait for an outside space next time, but the inside room was fine for our group (4 teens/pre-teens). The cornbread is excellent and the ice cream thing on the corn crepe was ridiculously tasty. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Pricey, but worth it.
Experience was fine... it was what we were looking for. Unfortunately, they overbooked. We did not receive the table we had reserved.
This was an Incredible experience, everyone was great, high professional and courteous staff
Loved Myra Washington. The food was excellent as well!
Service was very slow. Other than that everything else was good
