   This restaurant is one of my goto when visitors come. Lots of parking and the view is always amazing! I think the seafood and the cocktails are great, too. Definitely a place I would go to take my mind off the stressful things that I had to endure so I can stare at the waves and enjoy the scenery.

   Our server did the best she could. She was so very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious! My husband’s linguine was not as tasty as he would have liked. My daughter’s burger should have been medium well but was well done! The server graciously went above and beyond to make all good. It took us almost an hour to get our main entree! My entire dinner party felt that they were understaffed! If they hire more servers, maybe the rating would be 4 stars!

   Another good lunch this afternoon at Skate's. Service was solid. Food was good. I started with the lobster bisque, as usual. Then, I had the Wagyu sirloin (pictured). My mother in law had the fish and chips (pictured as well). My wife had the thyme herb chicken. The scenic view was a bit obscured today from some cloud cover and marine layer.

   This is one of our favorite places to go when we are in the area for the spectacular views and overall ambience. However, this time we found the restaurant to have gone downhill in a few categories. The floors and bathrooms were very dirty, neither had been checked or cleaned throughout the afternoon/evening, and the ladies bathroom was pretty disgusting. Our server was lovely and attentive but one of our appetizers did not come out until after all of our other items and the quality of the food was not on par with what we remember. Management could do a much better job with more attention paid to cleanliness and quality. Not sure if we will come back for dinner again or stick to just a cocktail for the view.

   Beautiful views of the Bay including San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge and Oakland. Delicious entrees and desserts! We were seated 30+ minutes after our reservation. Busy due to graduation dinners. Having a table with great views made up for the longer than expected wait.

    It took 3 hours to finish a meal from start to finish. Did not get menu for 60 minutes. Unable to get water to table until asked three times. Order not taken until we called the manager. Due to the time delays, expensive Lobster meal arrived cold and wet since it was not delivered promptly and probably sat in the kitchen way too long after preparation. Had to get manager to get the bill and took 20 minutes to get bill paid and had to go to register to finalize since server never returned with my credit card. Caused me to give a very minor tip which I hardly ever will do. Server was totally unable to handle her customers in any reasonable manner. Asked for a small piece of cake and candle for my wife's birthday which was listed on my open table reservation requests. Never happened. Bad experience. This is out of character for this restaurant from prior experiences. Sid Landman

    Such a lovely setting and ambience. Food was delicious. The service was lacklustre. I never like it when I have to wave down the wait person….. numerous times. Refill, dessert and check.

    It was Mother's Day and it was busy. It took us an hour to get our appetizers, and we were there a total of two hours to complete our meal. Service was slow, but again I'll attribute that to them being so busy. She was friendly and helpful. Food portions were small in our opinion but very good. We would recommend.

    Been to Skates many times and typically everything is very good to excellent. This time, however, despite good food the service was horrible. After sitting for 30 minutes I had to find someone to ask if he could locate whoever was serving our table. Even after she was found she was incredibly slow to get our drinks. A different server ended up bringing us water and bread. Getting our servers attention was virtually impossible the entire time.

    We were seated and waited more than 45 minutes and not a single person acknowledged we were even there. Nothing! Admittedly, it was graduation weekend at Cal and busy, but still. We just walked out. At age 60 that has NEVER happened to me. Sad.

    It’s a nice venue, that’s about it. Super loud, hard to hold a conversation. Kitchen staff constantly dropping things next to our table. The whole experience seems catered around the wonderful views, which we requested a window table but despite our efforts it was not honored when there were tables opening up for us. We would have gladly waited for a table to open up instead of being sat at the next available table. When one was available 2 minutes after being sat and we asked to move to it, also denied. Mind you there was no line or anyone waiting at the door. Drinks seem basic and slightly over priced for what it is. Food seemed rushed and overall was severely over salted. I would like to return to try a window seat and different food options, but it’s hard to try when there is no guarantee you will ever get seated in the place you request. Proper restaurant management can make sure at least a certain limit of requests are honored each night, but to simply tell EVERYONE that reserves a table, “you may not get the table you want” seems lazy. This venue has tons of potential.

    Despite the combination of Mother's Day weekend and Graduation Day, the staff were cheerful, the food served promptly and (as usual) delicious. Don't miss the grilled BBQ shrimp with grits - New Orleans style.

    We came on a Saturday when the dining room is especially lively, and asked to sit at a booth so we could watch the diners enjoying themselves. As always our cocktails were especially well made, and our seafood fresh and perfectly prepared. Our waitress (Alicia?) was especially warm and attentive.

    Outstanding location right on the SF Bay with a clear view of San Francisco & the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s my experience that view locations like these usually don’t have outstanding food but Skates’ kitchen exceeded our expectations. Every dish was creative and tasted excellent! Our server was experienced and friendly. Good wine and desert selection as well. Our 5:30pm reservation allowed us perfect seating for an amazing sunset!

    Went for my birthday lunch. Server never brought the clam chowder I ordered. Fish & chips were overly breaded but the tartar sauce was good. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. My husband had the open failed crab sandwich and he enjoyed it as well.

    Great lunch yesterday afternoon. Skies were clear enough for us to see to the Golden Gate and the city. Scenic window table, providing panoramic views and a relaxing atmosphere. Food was good, well executed. I started with the lobster bisque, my wife the arugula and berry salad. Their garlic butter topped focaccia bread was yummy. I had the wagyu sirloin, my wife the thyme chicken, and her mother the fish and chips (she substituted rice for the fries). We finished with the chocolate molten cake. Everything was delicious!     Went at midday for special occasion, Cousins 76th birthday. Hostess could not have been nicer, great table and good server. Menu has been redone since I was there last year, added some new dishes, prices have gone up. No better place for a great meal with a great view and great people.

    The food was terrible but the view was beautiful and the service was friendly and fast. Shrimp was rubbery and flavorless, ahi tuna was over cooked and questionable looking, rice didn’t taste good, crab sandwich was a mess and unappetizing, and calamari was dry and flavor wasn’t that good.
