Good food and good service. Only downfall is the menu is very limited due to covid. But great service and the food we had was delicious

Great customer service and they made sure to get us a seat by the window which we appreciated. Also, as a nurse I appreciated how amazing they were with keeping things disinfected and safe for everyone.

I thought the service was on the slow side. This was ok since we were having a family catch up, in no hurry. The only negative thing is I think they served us bread from the night before. It was on the stale side. Main entrees were very good.

First and foremost, I was just happy to see that Skates was open and allowing indoor dining. Definitely had to seize the opportunity. While the restaurant was clearly operating with a reduced staff, they did their best to go out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel special. For example, their kitchen was backed up, so they offered us a free cup of clam chowder while we waited for our other appetizers, which was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. After that, it was smooth sailing, as we received everything we ordered in a timely fashion. We ordered the oysters (which were fabulous), the prawn cocktail, the ahi tuna roll, and for dessert, an epic seasonal bread pudding that I am still salivating over. And of course, how could I forget to mention the incredible view of the Bay Bridge and the Bay? Skates is the perfect place for date night or a family get together, and I was very pleased with dinner here. I will definitely return! Thanks Skates!

Everyone from the hostess to the manager, the wait staff. The appetizer was great. The waiter brought me the wrong entree, but I liked it anyway.
The other guest ordered Cioppino which he liked, but was disappointed that the crab was soft-shell and not dungeness.

Went here for a date night. Due to COVID they were only serving a limited menu. Food was delicious and the menu had something for everyone. Lemon Drop was excellent. Save room for dessert because the Creme Brûlée is a must.

Ok food. Overpriced. Great bay views. $150 (including tip) is just too much for a mediocre dinner for two. 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, no dessert. Hardly any seafood in the seafood bucatini pasta, $33, only 3 large shrimp, and a tiny bit of crab. The seafood Cioppino was ok. Have had better.

Skates is our go-to restaurant for the celebration of family birthdays. It was such a pleasure to be welcomed back into the restaurant, given an excellent table, served by a very competent server, and provided an exceptional meal.

Thrilled that Skates is open for indoor dining; however, the menu is so abbreviated the pick'ins are slim. No steamed clams, no steamed mussels, mostly a lot of fried stuff. They ran out of calamari. The cioppino was still on the menu and still good. Hopefully they will expand the menu when economically feasible.

Our waiter wasn’t as attentive as he could have been. We had to ask for things we needed instead of him keeping an eye on our table. The manger also gave our free appetizer away to another table so then there was that. Besides that the food was amazing, salmon perfectly cooked and the cherry sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks were great too, my cucumber smash was delicious and my boyfriend enjoyed his lemon drop. Overall great food and okay service.

Food good as always. We sat in the bar area and I noted that the physical space is starting to look shabby. Walls could use a coat of paint. I changed chairs as the seat of the one at my table was really stained by some unknown past liquid.

Skates has been on the Berkeley Marina for 36 years, so they obviously do something right! It's a wonderful venue for special occasions, the view is spectacular. We lunched on a Saturday in March, having made reservations for a party of 6 a week in advance. The place was jammed with people, and we ended up waiting 40 minutes beyond our reservation time, in order to secure a window table. It was worth the wait as a rainy Saturday turned into glorious blue skies by the time lunch was served. The crab/artichoke appetizer w/fresh baked bread sticks was the biggest hit. Also enjoyed the crab roll sandwich, the ahi tuna, and eggs benedict. The restaurant, being super-crowded, was noisy, and the service slow, though the waiter tried very hard to be attentive. We'll return again, but try to avoid the weekends.

When I arrived early the staff wanted to sit me on the bar area, but I was there for a leisurely lunch with a dear friend. I asserted myself and was quickly seated at a window table in the restaurant. Our server was Ebony and she did her best to please.
The seafood Louis is light on the salmon and prawns but is very large with lots of green lettuce hard boiled eggs asparagus four or five small stalks!

Service very good and ambiance is hard to beat. The almost 5%living wage tag that they tack on you bill is very grating as the the prices are very high.Berkeley reataurants for the most part do this.I will continue to patronize this place but, maybe not as much.

I’ve been to Skates many times and it is usually a good experience. Our server, whose name I did not catch, made a regular Sunday brunch a joyous occasion. She was attentive, charming and anticipatory. The absolute best service we’ve ever had. Kudos to her and to Skates - keep her please!

My husband and I went for a date night dinner. There were a lot of big parties there and it was pretty loud inside. A lot louder than I’ve noticed in the past. The food was good and even though they ran out of the dessert we ordered, we were offered something else. We will definitely return!

Food a bit pricey for value. Don’t mind spending money for good food but 35 for three shrimp, noodles and a sprinkle of crab meat. NEVER Again
