A restaurant in an absolutely beautiful.old building, the Martha Hotel. It's reaply more restaurant than grill, so if you make dinner reservations, bring something a step up from jeans to wear. The restaurant suggests business casual. The interior of the restaurant has panneled wood and traditional furniture, all very Old Virginia. There's a good looking small bar area too. We were seated by a fireplace. The food was ok, not great, My husband's Shepherd's Pie with sweet potato topping was just a weird taste combo with the sweet potatoes being too sweet for a savory dish, but the lamb was good in it and plentiful. My Cornish Game hen with wild rice was the smallest Cornish game hen I've ever seen. It needed a quick marinade in something acidic before grilling. The wild rice side didn't contain much wild rice and had little flavor. It was like banquet dinner food. Our wine was good and the baked goods were exceptional. The cheese biscuits & the apple cake with vanilla ice cream were real treats & perfect examples of their types. Our waitress was sweet but very overworked. We ordered about 15 minutes after we sat down and got our dinner 45 minutes after being seated. She did bring us our wine & bread so we were ok with the very leasurly pace. It was as a busy Saturday night. I wonder if the teaspoon has gone extinct? We were brought larger dinner spoons with our dessert. (This seems to happen at most restaurants now.) I questioned the waitress and she said they have five types of spoons, but she was in a hurry, thus the larger spoons. Why aren't they stocking the different spoons in wait stations & teaching the servers to use them? This is a great place for dinner if you don't set your food expectations too high because of the beautiful old hotel it's in. Arrive early & have a drink on the big porch or walk around & look at the beautiful public rooms. Then order the safest thing on the menu & some yummy apple cake for dessert.

Service was excellent as always. Aviance was good except it was so dark I could not see to cut my food. Very nice quite atmosphere. The food was very flavorful but my steak was a little tough and the vegetables were a little on the overdone side in my opinion. I would definitely recommend coming here.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Martha for my birthday. We had breakfast twice and dinner once there. Breakfast was plated each morning and full of variety. Dinner was from the menu--Shrimp Tempura for my husband and Cauliflower Au Gratin for me. The food was delicious! Our servers were very attentive. We recommend Sisters! We will go again.

Loved our dinner at Sisters. We are in the bar which was very cozy and quiet. We loved our server - she was funny, knowledgeable and engaging. The food was high quality, portioned well and interesting. If you are looking for a quiet evening this is the perfect place.

We enjoyed our dinner at Martha’s on a Thursday evening. Our last visit had been on a Friday evening with a very noisy wedding party at the bar which diminished our enjoyment significantly. This time there was no wedding party, and it was a very good experience.

Our server was excellent! She was vivacious, engaging and checked on us enough, but not too much! Our dinner was good. The potatoes were delicious, as was the reduction on the NY Strip. However, there was a good amount gristle on the steak. The flavor was good. Thank you!

Not much is open on Sunday, so we made reservations here. Service was awesome, valet service exceptional. Seemed a bit stuffy inside but it is a historic building and it’s difficult to get temperatures right. I had the halibut and it was great, the cup of pumpkin soup, not so great. The halibut was flavorful, topped with strawberries and feta and perfectly seasoned. Soup was bland and the bread basket was a joke. I actually thought it was a plate of big croutons! Overall good experience but if not a Sunday, with limited options, I would probably pass next time.

We were a group of six and were seated in a private, outdoor patio section. The setting was perfect, our server was outstanding, and the food was very good but a bit pricey. Fortunately, we were staying at The Martha Washington and had $25 in gift card credits per couple towards our dinners. This made the price a bit more reasonable. Overall, it was a lovely dinner.

Sisters always offers an exceptional dining experience, and we have been dining here for years. From the service to the ambiance to the cuisine and wine list, we are consistently impressed. The servers are extremely friendly and very accommodating, without fail. Each time we have dined here, the entree menu has been different, which is so refreshing. The chef demonstrates creativity and expertise in pairing proteins with sides that perfectly complement. The halibut was easily one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. Hopefully, this is one entree that will remain on the menu because it is that amazing. The charcuterie board is second to none. Looking forward to dining at Sisters again.

Nice, upscale restaurant with good food. While the service was satisfactory, we were a bit annoyed that the folks at the table next to us arrived about 20 minutes after we did and were served their meals well before us. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal and we would go back.

We celebrated our 40th Anniversary at the Martha with a special dinner at Sisters. We both had the rack of lamb, which was cooked to perfection! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Finally, the desserts were amazing. The Mexican chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was indescribably delicious!

The meal was very good; both my ribeye steak chmichurri and my wife's rack of lamb were/ tasty and he ribeye was much larger than I had expected. Service was excellent. The major negative factor was a loud wedding party at the bar that was only separated from the dining are by a partition and not a wall. The restaurant is recommended, but only on nights without a wedding party in residence

Sisters is a great place to eat before attending a play at Barter Theater. My complaint is the steaks were overcooked, and only of mediocre quality.

My wife and i ate there for dinner on May21. Food was great, service was very professional, but dining room was way too cold! i was practically shivering by the time the bill was settled. Even the hallway leading to the DR was several degrees warmer. Also the lights are a bit too dim for our taste. This is true even at breakfast, when there is the benefit of full daylight. Otherwise, a very nice experience.

We were excited to take both of our mothers to Sister’s for Mother’s Day brunch. It was okay but not as good as their regular dinner menu. The brunch menu was extremely limited and not very exciting. My mother got the chicken biscuit. It was a nice size but came with “spicy marmalade” which she asked for on the side because she can’t eat anything spicy. I asked if there was anything else she could have on the biscuit but all they had was a little packaged jelly. Not what I would expect at a nice restaurant. I had the frittata which was very dry and flavorless. My mother in law had the salmon and said it was okay. Overall, the dining room is lovely but could use a little more ambiance (maybe some music), and the food is mediocre - disappointing since we thought we were taking them somewhere special.
