Banchan was not great variety. Nothing was spicy enough -I am Korean so I know how things should be spiced. There should be different spice levels offered for stews.

Try the scallops, rice cakes, and dry aged steak! The non alcoholic drinks are art in and of themselves too, if you're looking for a break from drinking.

This restaurant was fantastic! The A5 Wagyu, Ribeye cap, Cacio e Pepe, Seared Scallops, Double Smash Burger, 8oz Wagyu Hangar, and Mango Bingsu was delicious! Aime was our server and she was delightful and made the birthday celebration memorable! Already referred this to our friends and family.

We were treated like VIP’s from the moment we were seated to when we left, despite being underdressed because of the heat. Jose, my server was excellent in all aspects of fine dining. He had an expansive knowledge of the menu, very personable, and nailed the small details such as walking and showing us to the restroom. The food was also amazing, and their mango desert is my new favorite.

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The entire team — from the warm and welcoming security guard and host to our incredible server Ian and every attentive bartender, server, and support staff in between — made us feel so special and truly taken care of. This was our first time at Perilla, and the experience was unforgettable. The menu can be a little intimidating if you’re unfamiliar with Korean cuisine, but don’t let that stop you — every single dish was absolutely delectable. We shared several small plates between the four of us, including the Korean Steak Tartare, dumplings, Kimchi fried rice, short rib, and the Picanha (a must-try!), along with a few sides. Every bite was bursting with flavor, thoughtfully plated, and perfectly balanced. The staff made us feel right at home and genuinely excited we were trying Perilla for the first time — it felt like a celebration. The attention to detail and the way they guided us through the meal made the whole evening feel elevated but still warm and approachable. To top it all off, we indulged in dessert and the tarte was out of this world. It was the perfect finish to an already perfect meal. We were hosting a couple visiting from North Carolina, and they were absolutely blown away — we all agreed we’d come back in a heartbeat. This was the kind of unique, thoughtful, and delicious experience that you just can’t get everywhere, and it’s exactly why Chicago’s food scene is so special. Perilla is a gem — and if you’re even thinking about trying it, do yourself a favor and go. You’ll be treated like family, fed like royalty, and leave already planning your next visit.

Nice and beautiful interior design. The dinnerware was very chic. I can’t give five stars because it took a long time for the staff to take our order and the food also took long to come out; for reference our reservation was at 7:15 pm but the main dishes came out at 8:30pm. Then, when my long-awaited wagyu steak hanger came out, it was cold :(. For an appetizer, we got the steak tartare - beautiful presentation, a little spicy which I expected from Korean food taste. Duck breast was delicious, but only 3 oz so half a breast, I guess.

Great steakhouse with a unique selections. Everything is dialed in to perfection. Wish they had a few more gluten free options, as they mentioned a few things we ordered were, but then when they delivered them to the table, they mentioned they weren’t, so that was a bit of a bummer. Otherwise, solid experience and beautiful design.
