Simpsons Tavern is Londons oldest Chophouse. Located amongst the charming alleyways at the centre of the City financial district. Built way back in 1757, the tavern retains much of its olde worlde charm and original features, especially in its thoroughly British menu featuring Devilled Kidneys to start, followed by great Steaks from the Grill Menu or Steak & kidney pie and, most vital of all, some good old-school spotted dick and custard. Naturally, it is almost always filled with City workers during the week fuelling their stomachs and mind for another round of money-making.

This was typical of old fashioned City restaurants relying on its reputation rather than providing acceptable quality food and service at a good price. Will not recommend it.

Simpson’s Tavern is a must visit when in London. Serving traditional English fare in the atmosphere of an old tavern makes this a stop we make every time we are around these parts. The staff is great and very helpful.
