My husband and I went there for our 30th Anniversary. Meal was wonderful. We sat out on porch overlooking water. Beautiful. They did ask me if we were there for a special occasion when I booked reservation. I mark ed yes to Anniversary. But evidently they don’t do anything for occasions. Not quite sure why they asked. I would still go back
Simon Pearce is a unique and romantic dining experience. The service is excellent, considerate and quiet. Ambiance is elegant and casual.
Not as good as it used to be. Cut of meat was ok. Husbands pasta was lackluster and the dessert special tasted ordinary - like a peanut/chocolate pie from a diner. The soup and bread, however, were still delicious.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance! Highly recommended!!
Simon Pearce is so good on so many levels. It is a special meal for a special occasion. I was unhappy with the hostess as I requested a specific room when I reserved the restaurant, arrived before anyone was seated in the entire space and said we were shopping for 20 mins but would be back and please remember my seating request, and she still refused to seat me where asked (a room, not a table). I find it strange. The drinks were outstanding, as well as the server, who couldn't have been more well trained in terms of temperament, timing and knowledge of the menu. The food was good, not great. The steak is tough and flavorless and I've ordered it 3 times this summer- I don't eat seafood so am limited in options. The asparagus appetizer is delicious but there is virtually no melon at all- just a garnish- so I think it should be called an asparagus dish, rather than asparagus with melon- misleading (but delicious). Overall, I would still bring special guests there, but feel like the restaurant could move to an outstanding overall review with some tweaks.

Is a nice start for a wonderful evening.
Food was perfectly prepared and promptly prepared.
Will do this again.
Excellent food with local flavours. Service is a tad rushed but still my favourite place in the Woodstock area.
Wonderful in all ways! I was hosting a friend’s retirement celebration, with two other close friends, and we had a thoroughly good time. Thank you, Simon Pearce Restaurant, for your consistency. I know of no one who has ever had a poor meal or poor service there!
Fantasia! Great experience. Food always excellent
We had a wonderful experience dining at Simon Pearce. The food was perfectly prepared and presented. Delicious meals and wonderful dessert. The wait staff was pleasant and very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend Simon Pearce to anyone.
We return to Simon Pearce Restaurant every year while in the area for a special birthday commemoration. It is outstanding in every respect. An early reservation merited a table overlooking the captivating falls and covered bridge.
As a journalist I first interviewed Simon in the early 80's when he bought the Mill, was designing and creating fine glassware and dreaming of the potential including the restaurant. Not a full decade later I returned to savor the fruits of that dream come true. And now, thirty five years since that initial visit, I returned for the first time in 18 years to see it continues to thrive with the finest food, atmosphere and pure joy. Sue Darling is a tremendous ambassador as a veteran server as are all we encountered. Whenever I return from Los Angeles to anywhere remotely in the area, Simon Pearce Restaurant remains on my must-do list.
Wonderful dinner! We got the best table in the house! Right overlooking the waterfall. It was amazing! A little noisy from the water, but worth it! The food and wait staff were exceptional.
The chef prepared a very good meal. I had the special which was swordfish and very good. The bartender also did an exceptional job (best part of the meal). All the cocktails we had were superb. I have been wanting to try this restaurant since moving to the area. Unfortunately, the service was very lackluster. Our waiter was very good at the beginning, but after she took our order she disappeared. She didn't return to the table until after our food had been brought out by another member of the team (a good 30-45 minutes from the time we placed the order). Other members of the waitstaff had to refill water, clear appetizer plates and ask if we wanted another cocktail after they observed us sitting there with no service. I would return for drinks, but I would not return again for a dining experience.
Beautiful venue and view. Food only so-so. Great cocktails and wine.
I've been eating at Simon Pearce for 20 years and it has never disappointed. It is my family's go-to restaurant for special occasions.
We had a wonderful experience at Simon Pearce!
A wonderful restaurant for discerning diners although this being Vermont there were lots of kids and tourists, all very informally dressed. I’d highly recommend the Horseradish-crusted cod. It was incredible.
This restaurant was recommended by the hotel I was staying with. It was gorgeous. All the glass pieces and the waterfall. Very beautiful very romantic and the food was phenomenal. My date has high standards for food and he was impressed. I would definitely return there when I'm in the area and would recommend as a place to experience great food.
Our original reservation was for seating on the terrace. Faced with unusually high temperatures that day, the restaurant graciously moved us to an inside table, but one with as good or better views of the river than we had on the terrace. We had guests who never had been to the restaurant, and they loved the entire experience. Our principal wait person, Vanessa, was outstanding. As is Simon Pearce's custom, however, several other person provided some aspect of taking care of us, whether filling water glasses, bringing extra bread, delivering our orders, etc. The net result is that we feel thoroughly and marvelously taken care of. As has been our experience in going to the restaurant for over 20 years, the food was terrific, a real joy to experience.
Simon Pearce never disappoints. My favorite Upper Valley Restaurant. Always tell people you must go.
Great food and service. Always a great experience!
We have enjoyed this restaurant many times...always a great experience! We love the food, love the scenery, wine list incredible, excellent designer drinks, and the waitstaff so pleasant and so eager to please. We would recommend this restaurant to all age groups ....incidently our son and daughterinlaw dines here, and always includes our young granddaughter...and they always comment how nice the waitstaff is to our young granddaughter! You will not be disappointed...and you get to use the beautiful glassware from Simon Pearce. Nice evening and lunch will not disappoint either! 5 Stars!
I have been to Simon Pearce Restaurant three times, each time bringing a favorite person with me to dine. The menu, service and location can't be beat.
We traveled for nearly six hours to once again experience the crispy duck, which my wife had many years ago and was ecstatic about. This time around (different chef) it was a disappointment. It came with two different sauces, both of which had a sweetness to them. I do not like sugar with my meat, so for me that was a bust. My wife now says she will probably not order duck again, as for her this was a let-down as well.
The restaurant is pricey as well.
Great experience! Food was delicious and the view was stunning!
We've been going to Simon Pearce a couple of times a year for at least the last 10 years. It's consistently first rate, it's our favorite restaurant in the Woodstock area. The food is always excellent and the view can't be beat, it's located in an 18th century mill that was water powered, the restaurant looks out over the mill dam.
Food was amazing. Got a table near window, could see the waterfall and covered bridge, which was also amazing. The problem was with the noise level... just too loud.
Also, while the food was great, I think it was over priced given the lack of fine dining ambiance.
Great service, excellent food, very fine atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Great food accompanied by a beautiful view. Great for romantic dinner.
Simon Pearce has been a favorite for lunch for years. We go out of our way to stop there on our way from N.Y. to Mass. Watching the glass being made is always a treat and last fall we bought a beautiful wedding gift.
My dining experience was pleasant and enjoyable but not outstanding. The atmosphere is what I would call elegant but casual. We were able to dine outside with a pretty view and while the food was delicious, the service I encountered was very average and the staff seemed a bit less than enthusiastic to be working there. This was my second visit to the restaurant and my experience was similar on both occasions. I would still recommend a visit to Simon Pearce and hats off to the chef!
The Vermont cheddar soup was outstanding! Everything was fresh and beautifully presented.
Really neat to see the glass blowing workshop downstairs before dinner.
This was the best meal i have ever eaten.
And i tried 2 things i never tasted before.
My husbands 2 inch thick maple pork chop was so tender all the way thru. If u have never been here put it on your bucket list
As always, Simon Pierce restaurant never disappoints!
The place is amazing, not busy, awesome views. Was worth the 40 minute ride from Sunapee. We will be back.
We drove up 2.5 hours specifically for this restaurant and then built a 36 hour micro vacation around the trip. The building and surroundings are beautiful as you can see with the dining room out over the water, the falls and the covered bridge right there. I'll start by saying the restaurant books reservations by "seating times" specifically on Saturday when we went 5:30pm and 7:45pm. You check in and then wait in line to be seated as you get there and at your reserved time, they started seating the line one party at a time until everyone with reservations are seated. We got to the building and didn't know this, so we shopped and watched the glass blowing downstairs for 30 minutes until it was close to 5:30 then had to wait in line to be seated. If you are back in the line, you might not get a seat along the windows.
My wife and I ordered great beers from a solid list of local micros which come in 12 or 18oz sizes. We ordered the cheese board appetizer which was very good. I ordered the Lamb Shoulder which when served was minuscule portion wise. It was room temperature - it seemed like it was cooked first, and sat waiting for my wife's to be cooked after because hers came out hot. I pushed aside the decorative greens on top of the bowl which were hiding the tiny piece of meat that was nestled in a very large bowl of flat noodles. The meat was fatty and not flavored very well and the knife they provide you with has no ability to cut with. Overall I was very disappointed considering the hype which got me to come all the way up here.
My wife ordered the short rib special, which was also pretty flavorless and she had trouble eating it because of the butter knife they gave her to cut with. The broccolini they served with it tho was something we'd never had and really enjoyed.
We shared the chocolate cake for dessert which came with a scoop of ice cream and that was excellent.
The service was some of the best we've ever experienced - our waiter was very professional.
We went to Simon Pearce’s wonderful restaurant for dinner on Friday night. Though we had other plans for lunch on Saturday, we cancelled those and returned to Simon Pearce for Saturday lunch! We loved the food! And the service (Sue on Friday and Gus on Saturday) was impeccable! And the views! Absolutely beautiful! What an incredible weekend: to eat delectable food on Simon Pearce dinnerware! To drink water and wine from gorgeous handcrafted glassware! To feel the weight and the beauty of the signature flatware! If we weren’t already huge fans of all the wonderful things the Pearce Family creates, the restaurant would have led us to dive deeper. But, as fans, we are more enchanted than ever, and more inspired than ever, by the Pearce “way of living”.
Delicious anniversary dinner. The duck was fabulous as was the grapefruit martini. Beautiful view and saw some glass blowing and did a little shopping all in the same trip.
