Italian
For over 20 years Siena has been Austin’s premier destination for authentic Tuscan cuisine. Locally owned and operated Siena's owners wanted to share their love of Tuscany with Austin diners. Utilizing the talents of long time veteran of the Austin food scene, Chef Harvey Harris, Siena's goal is to transport the dinner from the hills of North Austin to the rolling hills of Toscana. Chef Harvey received his Master's Chef in Italian cuisine while attending culinary school in Piedmonte Italy, but his heart is in Tuscany where he lived and worked. All food at Siena is prepared to order, pasta is made fresh daily as well as all stocks and sauces. Our food is complemented by an award-wining wine cellar and served in rustic, elegant surroundings of thick stone walls and tall wood-beamed ceilings. Whether visiting for a light lunch, happy hour, special event, or a romantic evening, experience the welcoming charm of Tuscany close to home.

Delightful luncheon, great food and outstanding service. Special desserts for two birthdays were nicely done - cake for one and berry cup for the other.

This is my go-to for business lunches. It's quicker than you'd expect for great full-service Italian fare, but you don't feel rushed. Wide range of choices, the specials keep it fresh, and the bang for the buck is outstanding. Good service and the ambiance is terrific.

The homemade pasta dishes, soups, salads and steak were delicious. We have been celebrating special occasions at Siena since it first opened and love the ambiance, wines and food always. I believe it has been 20 years of exquisite dining experiences. Also love the appetizers!

The atmosphere of Siena is its signature and appealing feature. The castle like construction creates a medieval if not romantic setting. Add on the Christmas season decorations and you have an outstanding backdrop for an enjoyable meal. The food was prepared in its customary outstanding way. The meat entrees were very tender and tasteful. Also recommend the calamari appetizer which we usually add to our meal. The only part of the dining not up to par was the less than attentive server. Although we requested to see the dessert menu, we decided to take a pass after waiting too long for the waiter to return to our table.

Awesome place with great service and excellent quality of food! Our server made us feel right at home and while he was very attentive, we didn't feel like it was intrusive on our romantic evening! Perfect!

I love going to Siena. It's a mainstay of Austin and kinda a best-kept secret. Going this weekend with girlfriends was extra special with all of the Christmas decor! Bonus!

Our most recent trip here revealed a restaurant that seems a bit "tired." The staff was unenthusiastic, the food somewhat average, and the surroundings in need of a refresh. The best thing is the extensive wine list. We've been solid fans in the past, dating from our first date there in 2006. However, this latest visit simply was not up to our standards for high-end, fine dining. Is it just that Austin is spread so thin, there isn't enough culinary talent to support the growth of so many eateries? Are all the servers bored grad students or musicians trying to make a buck, until they can make it big? And if I say this once, I'll say it hundreds of times: Austin restaurants put way TOO MUCH SALT on food. For gosh sakes, let us taste the food and not the salt. Because of sentimentality, we will try Siena again sometime to see if improvements are made. We'd hate to cross this one off our favorites list.

First, the food was way too salty and the meat and pasta were dried because it obviously was rewarmed in a microwave. Very disappointing!

The tagliatelle bolognese is the best Bolognese we’ve ever had. It’s delicate, gourmet and so tasty. We ordered it last time also. Very romantic and beautifully decorated in Tuscan style. A top Austin restaurant for sure. The baked Brie with fig preserves and toasted almonds with toastier was perfect. Obviously a great chef here. Definitely recommend.

My only complaint about Sienna and we have been here many times was that after dinner my friend went to her car and found her window bashed in and her computer in her car was stolen. In contacting the manager she heard that this has happened many times before. I would think that one episode would be enough to see what steps need to be taken to improve the parking area with cameras, lights or surveillance.

we wanted very much to like SIENA this past weekend after a disappointing restaurant week dinner months ago. some things were great, such as the service, ambiance and easy parking. but in the end, it comes down to the food. last time, it was mushy, over-cooked and cold. this time, too much salt. when we noticed it in the meatball appetizer, we asked our server to make sure the entrees were not over-salted. but the otherwise very good short ribs entree was over the top salty. the trout with beurre blanc was spared the over-salting, although still had a heavy hand of it, and was very good. nice size portion, too. two desserts (mousse and gelato) were fine, not extraordinary. we could try a third time, but...

It was very crowded so food not as good as usual. The very large pork chop was undercooked and had an off flavor. The usual paparelle rage tasted warmed over. Usually, the food is quite fresh and good.

I've always enjoyed Siena and will continue to do so in the future! On this visit I was somewhat shocked by the price of two rather moderate cocktails at the bar...$11.50 for a Dewars Scotch and $14 for a dirty Tito's Martini, both way overpriced in my opinion! On our next visit we'll pass on having cocktails. As a former partner in a very successful bar & restaraunt in Houston, I'm well aware of when too much is too much...

Siena was outstanding! This was a two-birthday celebration with our son and his family. Siena's staff was great in working with the 3 young boys. Our food was delicious, and the service was terrific as well. We highly recommend Siena for special celebrations!

We've lived in ATX for over 30 years and Sienna is still one of our favorite restaurants. Our food, service, and the atmosphere were all perfect. My husband doesn't like truffles in any shape or form and there are a lot of dishes with truffles on the menu; but he really enjoyed the trout!. Bon Appetit!

It was the absolute worst food I’ve ever eaten at Siena! My husband had the Osso buco — the chef’s special. It was overcooked and the polenta tasted like it had been sitting in a pot drying out all day. My friend and I both had pasta dishes—she had the bolognese and I had the mafalde Wagu. Both pastas were dry and tasteless. The meat in both dishes tasted liked they have been cooked all day and dried out. if that was the chef’s best dishes—I won’t bother going back! It’s too bad, because every other visit there was a good experience with great food!!

Excellent meal at a reasonable price and surrounded by a wonderful ambiance. The fresh Mussels and Texas wild boar ragu with bruschetta were superb as appetizers and the mixed grill (Misto) and the seafood in marinara (Cacciucca) were also fabulous. We finished with tiramisu and porto. Always a great wine list and the bar provided us with Grey Goose martinis that started our evening off on the right foot.

It was a busy evening at Siena -- for a cold, rainy Veterans Day Monday. The main dining room was as glorious as ever. The food and wine were excellent. The waiter (new to us) started off by asking if there were any veterans at the table. We replied that there weren't, but that my wife's father had been a veteran. The waiter commented that "people in those days didn't have a choice". I didn't blast him, as I should have, for making unwanted and unwelcome assumptions about my late father-in-law. It happens that he was a trained aviator and commissioned officer in the Army Air Corps before the outbreak of World War II -- a volunteer, in other words, as were millions of other Americans in that war and later ones (even when the draft was in effect). In any event, the waiter's comment was ill-considered, but it was a passing comment and didn't spoil the evening. Nevertheless, the management of Siena needs to coach waiters about such things. (Silence is golden.) Siena's kitchen needs no coaching; it produces superb fare -- on the traditional side (which is fine by us), but superb nonetheless. For one example, it is a challenge to cook scallops so that they aren't tough but also not slick inside. The challenge was met by the cook who prepared the scallops in my delicious entree.
