SHU - Sushi House Unico - Bel Air
The Sushi is beyond great. They’re daily special menu contains types of fish I’ve never heard of and I’ve been around awhile….
It was my wife’s birthday and we always go there for a special Sushi Dinner. I would be remiss if I didn’t say it’s quite pricey though. However, well worth the experience once in awhile.
More expemsive than prior visits.
Service a bit dragging and no smiles.
Great vibe and delicious food. Also, amazing service.
Food is really good and unique compared to other sushi restaurants and they also offer Wagyu and truffles but the service is really slow since they are under staffed.
Omagase is not the typical cookie-cutter variety as some of the more famous places like, Asanebo, Note and Brothers. I've been doing omagase at Shu five weeks in a row, and I never got the same things since the chef picks the best and in season seafood for you.
Best food and service!
We went on a Saturday night so it was busy, the tables were full and are close so the noise level was high making it a little difficult for conversation with 4 people. But its a nice spot with complimentary valet parking. Good food and we enjoyed ourselves. Although there were a couple of older men sitting outside the restaurant on a bench smoking cigars and the smell was invading us while we were eating, not much anyone could do but I didn't enjoy that.
Incredible, everything was sooo good
Our salmon sashimi was AMAZING but not better than our server. Will be vaj!
Best Sushi in the city. The daily specials will blow you away, let alone the regular menu.
Soup could be more improved by adding green onions and more spices
Best food ever
Small inside space Very noisey
Melts in your mouth kind of sushi experience, great quality
My favorite restaurant. The food is fabulous and sushi is always fresh. The service is warm and inviting.
excellent quality, many unique dishes, nicely presented very busy and "don't leave home without it"
We were the 2nd party to arrive after opening. Was quiet. Food took long to come to the table but was very good.
The service was good but I believe we did not get 7 courses omakase menu.
I was asked if it is a special occasion and I requested a special desert for our anniversary. But it seemed the request did not go through.
After finally getting a reservation, we enjoyed our food and will go again.
SHU is the most consistent sushi bar I know.
Every time we go we are blown away by the quality of their fish. The chefs and serving staff are all excellent.
One of my favorite sushi spots….consistently great food! Love love love!!!!
Best sushi place in town, I’ve been going there for years and feel at home when I am there. The food is amazing, the service is top notch, and the personnel is outstanding. If I could give 10 star I would.
We go to Shu once a week! Food is extremely fresh and tasty and the service is great! Highly recommend this place. The best sushi in LA!
Great food as always! Good service.
Due to pandemic, it Feels the tables are too close for comfort, even though there exists a glass barrier separating the adjacent tables.
It Would have been even better if their landlord would have allowed them to use part of the outdoor area, similar to what it was several months ago!
Ultimately came away with an average sort of feeling here. The menu is lengthy and almost overwhelming, but they do have a lot of specialty items which is nice. The food was largely very good, but definitely costly compared to similar places. The place was busy, but there are plastic dividers everywhere giving it a cramped feel (perhaps not entirely their fault really). The service was good. By the time we left it was packed.
Still, almost $200 out the door for 2 people is pretty high - yes that includes tip and $60+ in alcohol, but still, you can find comparable meals with better atmosphere on the whole for less. I wouldn't rule out going back, but it certainly doesn't get put in the must-do category either. Good but just too pricy for a usual night out but probably not truly special enough for a special occasion either. Idk.
Had to wait almost 30 minutes for our 8:00 reservation
Bulmaro and Gabi are the best!
Very slow service, sushi was not up to par nor was the service. It’s definitely gone down hill.
best sushi in town. Great variety. So Fresh and So delicious. Great service too
I've been here a few times. Food is great, service is great.
Very Popular Neighborhood Gem
We've been coming here for many years, and always appreciate the high quality sushi, sashimi and other food (but we're primarily raw seafood consumers). Even when super busy, with the phone ringing nonstop, they are friendly, excellent in their recommendations for what to order, and the food is consistently fresh, tasty, and top notch.
Food was outstanding
Great Sushi make reservations. Only indoor seating, and the crowd Is lively.
This is an amazing restaurant the staff is amazing as well foods fantastic
Our waitress was unbelievable.
She could remember what we had a week ago, although it was our only time at Shu!
Always amazing! Great service, great food and great vibes!!
Our favorite Sushi spot! The food and the service is outstanding. Noriko is awesome. Everyone makes us feel special. Have yet to leave wishing something was done differently. Love this place!
Their 3 app specialities (noted on their listing note above: halibut/hirame carpaccio with sundried tomatoes & kobe beef sashimi & albacore tuna sashimi) & my requested Sunomono with 3 seafood app were VERY GOOD & memorable, but sadly pretty much everything else was NOT…kinda mediocre tasting, the final entree the Chicken Teriyaki barely eatable & they FORGOT to bring the included rice with it even.
