Food was very good! Service excellent!! We ate outside and it was very comfortable! Only negative was the glasses of wine for very small for the price.
Jorge, our server, was outstanding. He was attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable.
We made a reservation and arrived at the location only to find they are closed. It was a waste of time.
Great food and wonderful service! Truly enjoyed the meal! Salmon was off the hook!
This was my first time at SHOR. Due to Covid restrictions I didn't realize that you had to order at a counter, and they only had one server. But I had a bowl of mixed grains and veggies with some salmon and my date had a Caesar salad with chicken. Both were great, and the server was very nice too. I'd definitely go there again.
Wonderful service and delicious food.
I know it’s a seafood restaurant but we ordered burgers fries and Mac and cheese. Absolutely delicious! The only negative is the ambiance. The restaurant and the hotel have seen better days and need a major renovation.
The restaurant itself is beautiful in decor and concept. Open air and lots of space. Chairs are comfortable and I really liked the color scheme. The food was exceptional. I took issue with some over cooked eggs a couple of times and portion size but overall it was good.
Definitely overpriced but you have to take into consideration the fact that it’s a hotel restaurant and it’s in Newport Beach. The staff was great with the exception of one instance where I arrived for Sunday brunch and it wasn’t offered to me.
Told that I had to order an individual plate as brunch was closing in 30 minutes. I wasn’t happy about that. But I never let that stop me from tipping well. Overall, I was pleased.
My date and I loved it. The food was delicious. I would definitely come back later on.
We decided on an early dinner and got to the restaurant on opening at 5:30PM. Because it was Valentine's Day we were informed there was a very limited menu plus a special three course Valentine's Day menu. Okay, fair enough. Nothing on the special menu appealed to us (Salmon. Kalbi short ribs, beet risotto) and the limited menu was not what we had in mind (burgers, some apps, pasta, sushi bowl, mac n cheese, and a few other things). We went to the restaurant to have a steak. No steaks on either menu and a very small offering of seafood (sushi bowl, fried calamari, shrimp cocktail). SEAFOOD GRILL IS IN THE NAME.
After a conversation or two with the the server, Jose, and the restaurant Manger, Roxanne, we were given the bar menu and able to order a 6 oz filet mignon. The steak was very nicely done with a rich, flavorful sauce (on the side) plus plenty of truffle salt and parsley fries. Banana bread pudding was very good - and plenty for two people, maybe ask for two scoops of ice cream. Drinks were good. A good sourdough bread loaf was delivered to the table after our appetizers (kind of odd), No salt and pepper at the tables. Price is fair for a resort.
The patio was relaxing and with the patio heaters, very comfortable.
Advice to management, either communicate early and clearly regarding menu restrictions or have a limited menu that better reflects what your guests may want in a dinner (steak, chicken, fish, pasta). Many guests in our area were a bit perplexed by the menu choices, and felt disappointed because on the website the dinner menu if far more extensive and interesting.
All in all if you are staying at the hotel - SHOR is a good choice. Their regular dinner menu had a lot of options for selecting a protein, sides, etc
Special thanks to Jose and Roxanne for their understanding and commitment to customer satisfaction. Special shout out to Craig, the bartender. Very knowledgable, pleasant and great customer service.
Reservation led to an empty venue. Service was awol. Only food available at the hotel bar instead
Hosting staff and service staff outstanding especially with a large party! Food was good too
It was a Christmas Day luncheon. We would have liked to have more selection ala brunch. The ambiance in the restaurant wasn’t conducive to Christmas. It was boring and “bland.” I’ve been to the restaurant at the Hyatt in Garden Grove and in the past, they’ve done a good job decorating their restaurant and. Serving brunch for Christmas.
Maybe all this is moot because you weren’t advertising for a Christmas brunch. Maybe next time, notify people via your website or Open Table that the restaurant is not celebrating a Christmas brunch. By the time we were notified by SHOR, it was too late to find another restaurant that could accommodate our party.

Excellent Management along with excellent staffing yields great customer service and satisfaction. A dedicated Staff out there trying to please the customers and willing to address any concerns, food allergies or desires you have to make sure you have an excellent experience. All you need to do is ask. As a matter of fact, the Food and Beverage Manager is frequently pro-active and right on the scene helping and observing to make sure everyone is happy and more than satisfied. Thank you.
Great day out for Thanksgiving lunch with lots of fun~something for everyone, plus mimosas! Live music while you got your food.
The server was nice and friendly but took too long to take our order. I had the chicken and it was overcooked and dry. My wife had the roasted vegetable entree, it was bland. We did enjoy the sour dough bread. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is uninspired. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We were looking for a special spot for our family to meet upon arrival at the Hyatt, and Shor exceeded our expectations. The food was fabulous, the ambience fantastic, and the service outstanding. We returned for several more meals and were never disappointed!
Food was great (Bolognase beef rib) and service was excellent
This is a go-to for me when I attend the Hyatt Concert Series. Very nice setting on the patio. The buffet is often very delicious and nice choices. The carving station is always good! The salads and charcuterie also very good. The chicken option wasn't very good, but I enjoyed the salmon!
The wait staff is what makes it nice. Bob and Kerri are exceptional at what they do and pay very close attention to their tables! A huge thank you to them for making my evening before the concert relaxing!
We had a great time, terrific food and wine, and the wait staff were excellent. They even took care of our kids with suggestions for meal choices and the mandatory crayons and coloring pages. We will be back!
The quality of the food is inferior. My ribeye was thin and fatter then normal
The wife chicken was dry as if it had come out of a microwave.
Prices was way above the quality and preparation.
The cost for 5 pieces of shrimp was extremely expensive...$18.00.
Rob is the best! We be back to enjoy his service. Food is always excellent.
The manger saved the day... if not for her this would have been no stars: Bad service. Drinks screwd up. Soup served with main course. Food not cooked as asked. Disaster. Manager took over and tried her best to make the bad situation better.
Great food and service. Peaceful ambiance.
Banquet quality food. Not prepared for a busy evening, food took 20min to serve.
I expected more coming from A Hyatt Resort...
I thought Shor was their fine dining outlet but more like a breakfast bar room at a “b” grade hotel.
Food was priced like Michelin but my chicken breast dinner didn’t beat Denny’s. VERY dry.
Overall a very disappointing dinner
The food was excellent, but the service was truly extraordinary
birthday for my friend
This place is gorgeous inside and out. We had brunch, lunch, and dinner here over our 3 day stay at the Hyatt resort in Newport. Brunch was the best value in our opinion. Amazing food and lots of options for adults and kids. The dinner menu is okay but lacks a signature dish. The servers are the best. They comped our dessert just for the hell of it one night. Kept our glasses full and were very attentive to our needs. Also gave us free shots of whiskey! lol It was a celebration weekend and everybody was....celebrating!
We ordered the short rib pasta bolognese and the dinner buffet but the food was not good. The pasta was way too salty and did not taste good. The buffet was just ok and dessert was very bad. We would not go back for the food.
Mothers day brunch was excellent very nice staff and great food 5 stars
Mother’s Day was a wonderful experience. We were married at the Newport Hyatt 25 years ago and it was a moving experience to show the kids where we performed our vows. The Mother’s Day brunch was delightful and the service was first class.
We were excited to try this 4star restaurant because all the reviews were good and it was a Hyatt . We walked in and it was empty , that should have told us right then that the place was subpar. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We ordered the ceviche for the appetizer and chicken for our main. The ceviche had NO flavor whatsoever . I mean it w whileas served in lightly salted water, no lime flavoring at all. I think they precooked the shrimp and just put it together with some tomato and avocado in a glass. My chicken was good and pretty moist while my partners was truly "dry airline chicken" . The sides were fine, cauliflower for me and broccoli for my date. I really don't think we will be returning. Maybe they are know for a great breakfast and NOT dinner,
Chose this restaurant as we are guests in the hotel. Our server, Rob was fantastic, made us feel welcome, was attentive and gave good menu suggestions. The food was yummy and the wine was fabulous. Thanks for a great meal, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great people and wonderful place! Will come back when we are in the area again.
Hotel restaurant; it was very quiet, probably because of a couple of weddings going on at the same time.
Service was very attentive and the food exceeded expectations. My steak was delicious, as were the accompaniments. My mother had a salad which was enormous.
Prices were reasonable.
The salmon and brussel sprouts were delicious but the service was not perfect. A dessert was not brought out after ordering until we asked about it.
I reserved a table for 10 people on a Saturday night at 7 pm for a family reunion. Most of us were staying in Hyatt as well. Some were relatives that live in Newport Coast. For convenience, I booked SHOR in the Hyatt where we were staying. The service was quick and wonderful. The 2 children had plenty of choices on the kid's menu. The 8 adults each chose their own entre. We ordered red and white bottled wine from the wine list. The table for 10 was set near the fireplace. There was another large party also set behind us. There was no disturbing noise level. There were a few couples also eating throughout. The ambiance was candle lit and relaxing. The orders ranged from mussels, mahi-mahi, pasta, short ribs of meat to salads. Everyone was happy with their order. The next day we also ate here for the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Cappuccinos, eggs, pancakes, bagels, lox, bacon, fresh fruit. The waitress was friendly and fast service. I would definitely stay here and eat here again!
