Truffle Parmesan Fries
All around fantastic!
Sat at the bar and was serviced by the bartender Jacob. Awesome drinks and food. Great service! Super fun and engaged staff. I had the oysters and truffle fries. :)
Very pleasant experience. The food was slightly over salted for our taste on both the salmon and vegetables with the halibut. The halibut was a bit dry. Both were steaming hot protein on warm but not hot grains & veggies. The carrot top pesto was fantastic.
Drinks were good and service was polite and attentive.
I have eaten at Shaker n Spear many times and while our most recent meal was good, it did not meet the quality that I had experienced on earlier occasions. Our appetizer was fabulous (burrata cheese with arugula and peaches), but our two main courses (salmon and halibut dishes) were nice, but not as delicious as I expected. The salmon was served with wheat berries and heirloom carrots and the wheat berries were very crunchy (a nice spicy lentil dish would have been better) and the carrots were so thin and in small number that I don't know why they were even included. They offered nothing to the dish. That all said, the service was impeccable.
All of the food lacked flavor. We were sat in what felt like the overflow of the restaurant. It felt like we were eating at a diner with $$$ prices vs. the pictures and the restaurant that is advertised. All five of us doing were unimpressed and disappointed. I would never recommend this place.
Crab cakes were more like large hushpuppies with a little crab.
Every single thing about this place was fantastic! We arrived early and had the fortune of experiencing lovely drinks at the bar. We enjoyed our appetizers there before we were seated. The dinners were wonderful and the staff went above and beyond.
Shaker & Spear was a wonderful place to celebrate my husband’s birthday! The food was excellent and we were both impressed with the cocktails and service. They were kind enough to bring out some champagne to pair with our dessert and we had a lovely time.
We were so impressed with the dining experience. The food was creative yet approachable. The service was friendly and efficient. The decor was whimsical and tasteful. We appreciated how flexible the staff was with changing our reservations due to flight delays. It was wonderful to see the food being prepared before our eyes and speaking with the chef himself. I definitely recommend this to anyone in Seattle and also visitors.
I have to say, when you book a table, well in advance and at 6:15 for you and 4 friends, and get sat in the “hotel bar” which is loud and not the vibe you came to this restaurant for, it’s disappointing. WHEN you make a comment that you would have liked to be sat in the actual restaurant and are ignored by the hostess, it becomes more rude than anything else. I can say the food is excellent, but I am paying 40+ bucks for a dish in a bar…manners. Probably will not return.
Great location, nice ambiance, wonderful service, food was a bit hit or miss. The burrata was delicious and well balanced, but the pas de choux octopus balls had a bit of a weird texture and flavor. Similarly the Alaska Halibut was PERFECT, but the scallops were just OK - could have used a heavier sear, more color, and flavor.
The sides seemed a little random. I'd rather have paid a little more for a more complete appetizer and main, than have to order some random sides that don't necessarily jive with with the main dishes.
All that said, if you're looking for a fun night out and a tasty meal, and budget is not a concern, this is a great place to spend an evening in downtown Seattle.
The food was amazing, had the Oaxaca specialty cocktail, wow party in your mouth! Scallops were so tender, Salmon perfectly cooked and crabcakes yummy. Even had the truffle fries, what a treat. Don't miss this amazing seafood dining spot.
Wait staff: Wonderful! Food: imaginative and high quality. Music was upbeat but could have been a bit quieter.
Great food, wonderful service - very attentive!
The food was amazing and our server, Sabrina was fabulous. She was attentive and knowledgable about the items on the menu. We were celebrating our anniversary and chose Shaker & Spear. So glad we did. Try the charred Octopus and the half of chicken dinner. When we are back in Seattle, we will definitely go there again.
About as perfect of an experience as you are going to find. The halibut was world class. The service was the best I’ve had perhaps forever. It was a memorable evening. Thank you!
Our server was incredible. Loved the crab cakes and halibut.
Great service, over salted food...like really over salted.
Great food, wonderful server Abigail. Was amazing with everything including recommendations. Would love to come again sometime!
A wonderful night start to finish! Yummy cocktails and fresh delicious entrees!
Had a 8:15 reservation on Friday evening 9/17, we weren’t able to be seated right away but we’re able to sit at the bar upstairs and have our drinks and appetizer transferred downstairs when our table was ready. The service was amazing and the host did a great job. The best I can say is that the staff was amazing and made my wife and I feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. It was our first real getaway since pre-COVID and they made a memorable evening for us.
We had the best server and the food was delicious. Great example of PNW dining for some of our out of town friends.
Service was fantastic and the food was delish! We will definitely be back!
Wonderful food & service. We had crab cakes, burrata/peaches/arugula, charred octopus, clams & Prosecco
Everything was outstanding!!
excellent safe environment for an intimate dinner!
This was a very nice and chill place to have a dinner with a few people and talk while eating. The service was top notch as well.
Excellent food and great service. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent food! The clams were probably the best I’ve ever had. Most of all, the service was beyond exceptional! Extra kudos to Nate and the general manager, Ryan!
The service was outstanding, from the hosts to the servers, everyone was wonderful. Our server paced our meal perfectly and she offered exquisite suggestions, making the dining experience. Cocktails were perfectly balanced, and the food was total mouth ecstasy. Each portion was small, with an ideal combination of flavors and textures, allowing us to experience several items and still leave completely satisfied with quantity. It’s the perfect place for sharing a food experience with friends or celebrating an anniversary, as we did. Expect to take your time, enjoy your company and relish excellent dining. Highly recommend!
Octopus and oysters were great. Brown butter seared halibut was top of the world
Great spot to eat on your last night in Seattle if you are just looking to relax. The service was impeccable and quite illuminating. The atmosphere of the open kitchen and bar created a nice balance with the conversation around.
Note: The guests around us provided their own recommendations and set us on the right path.
Though the salmon was slightly over cooked, the chicken schnitzel and mac and cheese were intoxicating. The menu evolves often so i could see myself coming here on our next stop through.
We had a reservation for 2 at 7:30 but we got there early so we were offered the bar if we wanted to be seated right away. We gladly accepted because we were starving. Nate was our server/bartender and he was awesome. We had the Clams in Miso broth and they were to die for. We also had the Burrata and peaches also amazing. The fries were great also and I had the Halibut which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the salmon which was slightly over cooked. Then we had the blueberry crisp for desert and it was the perfect end to our evening.
It was great! Service, food, ambiance were perfect.
The Spanish Style Gin + Tonic was delicate and refreshing. Loved it!
We had a late lunch, so for dinner we shared the Dungeness Crab Cakes (moist and delicious), the Greens salad (fresh and yummy), and the American Wagyu Burger (absolutely amazing...husband said 'criminal', haha).
We loved this restaurant, which was open to the kitchen. Entertaining to watch the chef and staff. We highly recommend dining here.
Great meal, really enjoyed ourselves!
Very much enjoyed the restaurant and was impressed by our server’s professionalism and warmth (she noticed my mother spoke Spanish and spoke to her about her food options in Spanish which made her feel welcome). Had a bit of mixed feelings about the food. All 3 of our appetizers were excellent, especially the clams. I’ve been thinking about that clam broth for days! The entrees, however, did not quite hit the mark. The lamb was actually a touch overcooked and the burger with the delicious bacon jam was very salty. Next time I think I may just order appetizers as they were complex in their flavoring and perfectly balanced.
We had booked this restaurant based on prior reviews. My girlfriend and I are from out of town and celebrating.
The service was impeccable throughout our dinner. The waitstaff was spot on and didn’t miss anything when it came to our comfort. This was the key to our positive experience.
A couple of gin and tonics followed by octopus for an appetizer which was exotic and yummy. Not something we routinely would eat.
I ordered a Australian Wagyu steak and my lady love ordered the lamb shank. Both were delightfully tender and flavorful. We shared our choices and my girlfriend insisted the lamb was the better choice. She may very well be correct. It was delicious.
We finished with a tart and ice cream for dessert
The meal for two was $200 tip included. Worth it.
Too noisy and very loud
Arianna was a fantastic and warm friendly enjoyable server with a great personality and attitude. Loved the Alaskan Halibut and truffle fries! Wife loved het chicken. Great salad, desert and Sangiovese wine! Thank you, excellent food, service and evening. ML
