Wife’s birthday - great service and outstanding food

I always look forward to coming here whenever I get the opportunity. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is always outstanding. I get the Lord Stanley every single time and it seems to never disappoint! You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu!

The steak was perfectly cooked. Everything we ate was incredible. From the bread and butter to the max n cheese and even my cocktail. Can’t wait to go back!

For some reason after 3 attempts the kitchen just couldn’t get a steak to come out medium rare. That aside everything else was great especially the service. The bar manager, I believe his name was Neil, was beyond efficient. He more than tried to accommodate my steak loving wife but it just didn’t happen. Perhaps next time. Ps. Been there many times before and always 5*

Not the best place you can go for a steak.

Great service, good wine and drink menu, steaks and vegetables were superb. Nice ending with a birthday mousse and pumpkin creme brûlée.

First of all, when we sat down, the table was extremely wobbly to one side. We asked the host if we could be moved - he responded with “yeah if you want to wait” when we had reservations. Then he brought over something to put under the table leg to balance which was great, but he was visibly annoyed he walked away without saying anything. Sorry - were paying $300+ for dinner, not an ideal first impression.

Our table was outside within the main walkway - so we had people walking back and forth our entire meal. Some with masks, some without. We did not feel comfortable.

Our food came. Filet mignon barely warm. Our side dish of carrots, not cooked all the way through.

The level of service we are used to when visiting Selanne’s was lacking, as was the quality of food.

Best bone in ribeye I have ever had. Fantastic service. I just wish I could afford to go there more often.

The outdoor dining experience was quite good. The oysters, scrimp, and steak were all excellent. Our server, Athena, is terrific. A good wine list, priced as most upscale steak houses, but few bargains.

The food and the service were both excellent, but $36 for salmon, $52 for a serving of halibut and $13 for a side order of asparagus are a bit over the top for a place with TV's in the dining room and that advertises itself as casual dining...even for Laguna Beach

Went for our 2 year anniversary. The best steak & sides we’ve ever had. The 12 oz filet does NOT disappoint. Truly an amazing experience and new favorite restaurant.

Absolutely love dining here. Despite all the craziness with COVID, they rose to the top and made a special night even better. Each time I come there food is better and better and the experience is a must for all who love high end food.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Selanne Steak Tavern and it did not disappoint! Rafael was a fantastic server, and the food and drinks were amazing!

Outstanding food and cocktails. Due to COVID, outside seating was well distributed, but due to the nature of the street, sometimes uncomfortably loud (not the restaurants fault though). Would return for sure.

This is our one of many times having dinner at Selanne, but first during the pandemic. we made reservations 3 weeks in advance when it was still outside dining only. When we arrived, there were no tables available outside, which we preferred, and because recently OC has allowed 25% inside diners we only had an option for inside table. The hostess had a little attitude about that, but we did not want to wait for outside, it was already 830pm.
We were escorted upstairs, more intimate section with wine cellar, which was fine.
Our Waitress, was very attentive and helpful with menu, which is much smaller than it was before.
We ordered soups, some apps and few mains with sides. all were delicious and prepared with love. We brought our bottle of wine, corkage $25, but they have a nice wine list.
Overall, very pleasant dinner experience.

Our server, Dimitri, was wonderful and the food was even better! We had the Farmers Market Soup (Roasted Poblano)- that along with the complementary fresh bread were a delicious 1st course. My husband & I both had steaks. Both we cooked to perfection. We ordered the Mac and Cheese and the baby carrots for our sides - highly recommend both. We shared a pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert to complete our food coma.

Nigel was an amazing waiter and made the experience so enjoyable. Food and ambiance were beautiful

Overall experience was great!!! We will return again hopefully when we can eat Indoors.. due to COVID, we had to eat outside and it was a bit hot... the sun was in my husband’s eyes while we ate...

Met up with friends for long overdue get-together since covid has impacted our socializing. Everything was incredible and the table up top was overlooking PCH, in my opinion, the best table in the house. i usually order steak but this time I ordered the Mary’s chicken - which I’ll now be craving from this point on! Service, ambiance, food and friends. A much needed positive experience, Thank you Selanne!

Wonderful food, ambience and service. Excellent wine list, too. They've done a great job with covid-19 modifications by bringing all dining tables outside to give the feeling of dining in a beautiful garden under string lights. Definitely pricey, but well worth it for a special dinner.

It was our first time last Tuesday and we had a great time. The food was excellent and our server, Bonnie is the best.

Highly recommended and will definitely go back there again.

My absolute favorite restaurant. Even with a lunch menu, everything was impeccable and delicious as usual.

It was our Wedding Anniversary and we were staying at the Surf and Sand. I was actually told by a number of friend’s that Selanne’s was not worth the price. Half of our dozen oysters were awful. The server told us to get the mushrooms as a side instead of the carrots we wanted and neglected to tell us both of our entrees were covered with mushrooms. My husband’s entree was half raw and the other half med-rare. When he cleared our plates he should’ve apologized for recommending the mushrooms to us and taken it off our bill. The side of mushrooms were not touched. He also charged us for ourAnniversary dessert until I said something after purchasing a second dessert. We were not impressed with the food or the service, especially after we spent $445.00 for (2) guests. Next time we will eat at South of Nicks, or Glasspar where we always receive great service and enjoy amazing food for half the price. We will never be back.

Have been here several times and this is one of our favorites. This time, it was a notch below. Sitting outside by the street was not ideal and we though the food was not up to par. Would probably not go back until you are able to sit inside.

Yummy dinner tonight. Kind of tricky rating ambiance due to Covid. We were sat at a table that was on a down hill slope, making it a bit uncomfortable. I called to inform them that we were celebrating my daughters 16th birthday, however, no mention was made. Overall a pleasant experience.
