Seiya is grotesquely expensive, but we always thought of it as one of those "special occasion" places, because the food was extraordinary. Not anymore. Still unbelievably expensive [5 piece sashimi for $62 is just one example] but everything we had was just average. Had hamachi crudo, poke, fish tacos, ebi, and spicy tuna roll. The fish tacos are still a treat, but everything else was a disappointment. The ebi was the worst of the bunch.............chewy, tasteless. It was the only ngiri ordered, and the rice just fell apart. Won't be returning.

Seiya is one of the local gems in San Carlos; tucked in the middle of the pedestrian area (where cars are blocked). It's consistently impressive offerings from the Tacos (fried nori loaded with fish and house pico) to the excellent miso soup, to the exceptionally fresh Hon imported sushi, to the consistent robata grill makes this a regular in the rotation. Always a tasty way for a quick lunch, dinner out, or even to impress out of towners with casual yet scrumptious excellence.

It was a wonderful dinner. We were given a private room so we were delighted. service was great but slightly slow. Nevertheless the foods were very nice. Price is a little high but the quality made up for it. Will definitely return,

Went on a Saturday night and had a reservation. Not too crowded. There are two high top tables and three regular tables inside along with seats at the sushi bar. We took our time ordering so not rushed, but our servers were not very attentive as we had to ask to get more tea (those cups are small) once and they never came back again. We ordered sushi primarily and it was just okay. Had to ask for wasabi and ginger and it took at least 20 mins to arrive at the table. Perhaps we caught them on an off night but I can’t recommend a visit unfortunately.

Top notch quality food at a fair price...service was excellent...staff was cordial, polite and attentive...facility was spotless and the ambiance was intimate... I've already recommended to my colleagues... Will definitely return.
