Great food, service and view. Facilities dated.
We will go back.
Really disappointed. The food was served to me cold, the bread is ok but not really good, my wife’s dish was ok but had far too much butter. The views are nice but the restaurant needs a renovation. The service was just ok.
Seabass is amazing, even if you love steak you should order that! It was perfectly crisp skin flavored just right with salt and pepper and some lemons - all deboned and skin side served up. The cauliflower purée sounded meh on the menu, it tasted divine and the mushrooms were perfect. I would skip the scallops - they did not meet our bar, nothing wrong, just did not enjoy the Brussels hash with sweet potato. The steak bites were a great trial, will go back and try the oysters and prime rib bites next time along with calamari. Now desert was perfect - bananas foster and chocolate lava cake. Next time we will add creme brûlée and see how that fairs too!
Both seafood and meat are prepared beautifully. Everything is so tasty! The Caesar Salad, and Calamari with jalapeños (accompanied by two delicious dips) are both worth a try.
A Birthday celebration with a small group of friends/co-workers. The service was friendly and extremely attentive to our requests and orders. The view of the sunset was enjoyable and the wind block did it’s job; keeping us free from wind and allowing us to view. The space heaters were enough. The food was excellent. I had the sea bass, not dry and the sauce was unique in taste, delectable. They brought out a tasty dessert for the celebrated person. I will reserve at Sea Venture on open table again.
My wife ordered an appetizer as her entree - the steak bits that come with a mustard sauce - because she enjoys them so. However, her "appetizer" meal came at least 10, maybe 15 minutes after the rest of us had been served. The waiter said it was because there are different chefs that prepare appetizers versus the regular entrees. Certainly, this isn't the first time members of a dinner party have ordered appetizers as meals along with others who order from the entrees. I'm guessing the failure wasn't all on the chefs, either. We'll go back because we enjoy the food and view, but they really need this review to get the waiters and chefs together to figure out what happened and make sure they communicate better next time so it doesn't happen again.
A "go-to" place for special occasions or a casual bite
The Easter brunch food that we ordered was just not good. We got the avocado toast, chicken and waffles, and chocolate-caramel tart, prix fixe. It was not flavorful nor in the least special. This was the first time I had chicken and waffles, and boy, what a disappointment. Those two large, poorly flavored slabs of chicken with the bone removed was kind of gross. I left most of it. The dessert, although the flavor was ok, was cut in half! It looked cheap. A smaller, full tart would have been way more appealing. The jelly beans on top did not help.
I walked out of there paying over $140 for two people with two identical dinners and two mimosas and nothing more. There were too many patrons on the deck, and there should have been better temperature control. A huge disappointment. I've been there a couple of times before, and it was better. Overall, the building looked shabby. I think they're seriously hurting for money. I wish I could say something different, but I won't be going back. I am a local.
Sat on the patio overlooking the ocean! Crab cakes were AMAZING!
I was worried that outside dining in pismo would be too cold and windy, because that’s how pismo is. The outdoor glass walls and heaters kept the patio nice and cozy, and kept the evening great. The food was top notch, probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The couples steak and lobster was perfect, I highly recommend it. Dessert was amazing, and there wasn’t much of a wait for our orders to be served. The sunset was perfect, and although the restaurant didn’t have any control over that, it just topped off an amazing evening. If you’re looking for a great date location, excellent food and nice atmosphere, this is the place. If there is one hit on the evening, it is the pomegranate Margarita. I recommend you find a better drink lol.
This is not a place I would return to or recommend.
Nice location and the server was very professional. But the food was not good. The only tasty thing we had was the beet salad. The Rockafeller Oysters were super fishy and not appetizing looking on top of some fake colored blue salt. I didn't even finish them. The pork loin was BEYOND dry. It was uneatable and I did not eat it. The sprouts were good but the potatoes average, at best. Nice location but the food not worth it at all. Felt like a waste of $100. Also, we stood at the door for almost 10 min without anyone greeting us. I had to ask a waiter for help to find the host to seat us. Pretty unacceptable for a restaurant that tries to be fine dining. Many waiters and the bartender saw us standing by the door but didn't even bother to greet us and say someone will be with us in a minute. This is not a place I would return to or recommend.
I was sorry to hear that our food and service were not up to our standards and appreciate the feedback. We hope you will give us the opportunity to make it up to you.
Athena was great! Food yummy. Awesome sunset view.
I don't think I have ever had a waiter actually read me a menu before, which he did. He then he stated if the party of eight (as he pointed to a table) shows up that we would probably not see much of him. What the heck? The bus staff spilled water and his response was "we can't be perfect everyday", I think an apology may have been better suited. It appears there is a severe lack of management of the employees as it seems the poor service is acceptable. The food was mediocre at best, the only saving grace was they couldn't screw up the sunset!
Missed having fabulous food they did not skip a beat presentation and food was wonderful
Wonderful food, a bit cold inside, waiter kept forgetting what we said, and we were waiting a long time to order desert. But excellent food, nice people. Very loud people at large groups of tables of like 10 people
The food was absolutely amazing and will now be a staple to visit everytime were in town. Atmosphere is quiet and perfect.
Jim and Thomas are amazing hosts. Catered to our every whim over dinner for 2 nights. And we’re charming and polite at all times. Thanks for a very memorable experience!
I do not recommend booking a Monday night dinner.
The service staff is 2nd string and slow.
Kyle was a great friendly server. Food was wonderful. View was breath taking.
Very nice choice for romantic dinner. Food is very good and reasonably priced. View on balcony is terrific and the service was first rate. I would highly recommend and will eat here again.
Excellent service!!! Will definitely return 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Excellent food and service, among the best in Pismo Beach. We had Australian Sea Bass, which was incomparable!
Great Caesar salad, steamers and scallops! We had reservations for outdoor dining, but it was raining, so they accommodated us indoors with an ocean view and the glass slider was open to get fresh hair! Very nice!
Very good food except the mashed potatoes were watery and pale. The steak was excellent and the chicken not over cooked like so many places do. Excellent desserts. Cheesecake and creme Brûlée will go there again.
Great service and absolutely wonderful meal! We had a party of 6 with 2 kids and we each got a different entree and everything was so perfectly cooked and just wonderful. Always a treat and you can't beat the view!
The food and service was great. Everything about the experience, exceeded our expectations.
The food was excellent. I had the Seaventure, which was several different types of fish and shellfish with rice and tomato fume. I would definitely order it again. Also there was a beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean.
We made reservations 3 days ahead of the date so that we could go & enjoy a meal INDOORS & watch the sunset. We are locals & when dining reopened up to indoor seating once again, we were looking forward to a meal indoors & NOT in take out containers. When we arrived the hostess tried to seat us out on patio. We politely asked to be seated indoors, which she accommodated. She sat us at one of the very few indoor tables right next to the THREE wide open windows. It was funny because the outdoor dining area had tables less than 6 feet apart under heaters, but he indoor dining had just a few functioning tables well over 6 feet apart...... It was FREEZING in the restaurant! The wind was whipping around as a storm was coming in soon. Since we were elated to dine indoors, we had dressed for INDOOR dining! We asked for the windows to be closed & were told "we can't" by the server. I asked if they were broken? Nope.... we can't because "of the virus". Huh??? We asked to speak to the manage who confirmed that "we have to leave the windows open because of the 'virus'". Now.....There is no stipulation in the regulations for keeping windows open for indoor dining, this is a made up rule by who knows who at this specific restaurant. We left & found a restaurant that graciously welcomed us to dine INDOORS & there wasn't a single window open?!!! These establishments that put up fences around the already ludicrous regulations need to go out of business & allow businesses that want to serve customers & make money take their place. We will NEVER be going back here again because of this incident. We ended up spending close to $200 on the dinner we did find, inside a warm & cozy establishment with friendly service.... That's $$ Sea Venture could've had.... but NOPE, they chose to make up silly rules that have ZERO scientific backing.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us and attempt to follow the guidance we have received from the same powers which closed us down in the first place. I understand your frustration and we could have handled your request differently. We were simply following the recommendation to keep our guests and employees safe. This will require some modifications as we move forward, but again, it was not just made up we’re just trying to do the best we can under these unprecedented times.
It was our first time visiting the restaurant. The food, ambiance and staff were all amazing! We will definitely be back. 👍🏼
The Sea Venture is my favourite special occasion place in my area on the central coast. I took my family there 03/06/21 for my parent’s 73rd wedding anniversary — that definitely called for the perfect place to celebrate such a milestone! The food was delicious (my mom, my dad, and I had the salmon with creamed spinach; my sister had the sea bass — which she proclaimed was the best she has ever eaten). Our server Zack was personable, prompt, attentive, and a total joy to be around.
In addition to the lovely dining room, great service, and delightful food, the view from the Sea Venture alone is worth the visit. Plan your visit at sunset hour for a spectacular way to end your day!
Ordered 3 entrees, The ribeye, seabass and pork tenderloin. The ribeye was the perfect medium rare I ordered. Seabass was delicious and not overcooked. Pork tenderloin was a tad dry. Sea scallops appetizer was perfectly seared. Bananas Foster we excellent with a big hunk of banana bread. Free corkage on one bottle of wine.
Food, service, view, staff all over the top!!I took my husband and a friend when my husband joined me in final relation from Las Vegas to Santa Maria and we all were treated so very special!
Although the view of the ocean was nice, the food was awful! We ordered the Couples Filet and Lobster. My husband ordered medium and got well done, I ordered medium well and got well done on the outside and rare inside. The filet was tough too, had a hard time cutting it with my knife. The broccolini was overcooked and the lobster was fair. The best part was the mashed potatoes and bread.
I was sorry to hear that you meal was a disappointment and would like to invite you back as our guests. We appreciate the feedback from our guests as that is how we improve as a restaurant.
The food was beyond delicious and the wait staff were very attentive. We ate on the rooftop patio and all tables had a great view of the ocean. The Oysters Rockefeller was very fresh and scrumptious. You defiantly should try this restaurant.
Sea Venture is when my husband and I choose to stay for our Anniversary!
The rooms are clean and comfy!
The spa relaxing and we love the food at the restaurant!
This year we dinned outside and I loved it. Added a special touch.
great experience. love the Steak and Lobster for two. Great drinks
The steak nachos were delicious 😋. Service was great and the view was even better
My husband and I went in for cocktails and appetizers. We got our table right away, the waiter was very attentive, and the calamari was delicious!
Great place to have an anniversary supper watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
It was a great meal and Zach our server was excellent. We will be back soon!
