Continental
After 15 wonderful years we will be closing our doors on August 13th. Our sister restaurants remain open, so please check out Balthazar, Minetta Tavern, Morandi, Cherche Midi or Lucky Strike

Schiller’s Liquor Bar is a casual neighborhood restaurant with a continental menu.

Dishes include rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes, steak and French fries, fresh fish of the day, a selection of pastas and sandwiches, and a market oyster bar. We offer a seasonal list of house cocktails created by our own bar staff. The wine list consists of 3 wines – CHEAP, DECENT & GOOD….CHEAP is the best! Schiller’s Liquor Bar is open daily for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night supper.

The owner is Keith McNally and the chef is Shane McBride, who is also the chef of Balthazar in SoHo

Very upset to learn that Schiller's is closing - their lease is up and with NYC landlords looking to gouge the restaurant owners, it's a shame that Schiller's fell victim to their greed.

I absolutely love the atmosphere and food. Staff is fabulous! I hate the chairs as they are the most uncomfortable things I've ever sat on. If it weren't for that i would have rated the experience as the best ever.

If Schiller's is a little less lively than it once was -- and it is -- the flip side is that you can get a table more easily. (They still jam you in pretty tight, though.) We had a burger, a steak, a charred cauliflower side and two big piles of fantastic fries. As with most McNally restaurants, it's worth going for the fries alone. About the cauliflower -- when I observed that it wasn't especially charred, they took it off the bill and comped dessert for our trouble. My god, it will be a true loss to NYC when the sticky toffee pudding is no longer available. Schiller's may be closing in a couple of months, but it's still totally worth a visit. Go!

Food was good, we had a good experience overall. However, service was not that good. The waiter was very annoying. He asked us about five times if we were ready to order. He was not careful when placing the dishes on the table, one dish accidentally fell on my back.

The service was terrible. I think every seat in the restaurant filled up at once and there were only two servers in the whole place. We sat without menus then the server only had one to bring us. Then it took him a long time to take our order. We ordered two sandwiches and once our order came they were served with dry AF salads instead of the usual fries. When we asked why they didn't come with fries he said, "I forgot to ask you and just assumed you would want salad." Fairly offensive and annoying because I really wanted those fries. He could of handled that situation a lot better.

A friend and I, who had spent a LOT of time at Schillers in the early 2000's, heard the news and went for dinner. While it was nice to be back for an evening, the service was nonexistent. I realize they're closing so it might be hard to keep a full staff, but they only had one waiter for what looked like the whole restaurant, which of course filled up. One of the things that had set Schillers apart back in the day was the great staff who made us want to keep coming back. It's a lot to ask one person to take on the whole seating area. At this rate I don't know how they'll keep the doors open till August.

Service was absolutely great. Everyone was so friendly, food and drinks came put fast, we explained we had not seen each other in decades and we did stay awhile but didnt frel rushed at all (for such a great place to let you hang out, we were surprised and really appreciated). We asked our server if she had a few seconds to take our pic, she said she couldn't right then but promised to return to do it asap, and almost immediately the hostess came over and said "I heard you wanted a picture taken!" It was pretry loud but we got used to it and didn't mind after awhile. Everything was great, definitely recommend.

James the waiter is a jewel! He has great back-stories and a wonderful sense of humor, and a spot on intuition. THANK YOU for bringing back the Key Lime Pie!! It was SO missed!! The crust could use a little more butter (just a little drier than normal). If that was my only complaint, that it was a good night!

Went to Schillers for a sunday breakfast before we hopped our plane back to Houston. We ate at a number of restaurants in the Lower East Side this weekend and I have to say, Schillers blew us away. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. Quite honestly, I am jealous nothing like this exists in Houston! We would be there all the time!

Even for a NYC restaurant, this place is pretty overpriced. $14 for a tiny margarita and $22 for chicken pot pie with an obviously frozen puff pastry crust kinda hurts. The vibe is cool and the deviled eggs are great, though.

The service here was horrible. The waiter had no idea what he was doing and took very long to get drinks, apps, our main meals. EVERYTHING. At one point the bartender came over to assist but it didn't help much. Food and drinks were good but the service really brought the whole experience down.

Your mussels were like little velvety pockets of pure culinary joy. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the sticky toffee pudding was dense and molasses-y. The cheap wine was phenomenal, and I always love a place that serves picklebacks with a healthy quantity of quality whiskey in the glass. Overall this place made for an excellent date. I loved the decor, and we will definitely be returning to sample some more of your culinary delights.
