I'm really gonna miss this place. So many wonderful memories there.
So glad to have stopped in one last time before it closes this month.
Solid downtown spot - will be missed!
Very upset to learn that Schiller's is closing - their lease is up and with NYC landlords looking to gouge the restaurant owners, it's a shame that Schiller's fell victim to their greed.
I absolutely love the atmosphere and food. Staff is fabulous! I hate the chairs as they are the most uncomfortable things I've ever sat on. If it weren't for that i would have rated the experience as the best ever.
If Schiller's is a little less lively than it once was -- and it is -- the flip side is that you can get a table more easily. (They still jam you in pretty tight, though.) We had a burger, a steak, a charred cauliflower side and two big piles of fantastic fries. As with most McNally restaurants, it's worth going for the fries alone. About the cauliflower -- when I observed that it wasn't especially charred, they took it off the bill and comped dessert for our trouble. My god, it will be a true loss to NYC when the sticky toffee pudding is no longer available. Schiller's may be closing in a couple of months, but it's still totally worth a visit. Go!
Food was good, we had a good experience overall. However, service was not that good. The waiter was very annoying. He asked us about five times if we were ready to order. He was not careful when placing the dishes on the table, one dish accidentally fell on my back.
The service was terrible. I think every seat in the restaurant filled up at once and there were only two servers in the whole place. We sat without menus then the server only had one to bring us. Then it took him a long time to take our order. We ordered two sandwiches and once our order came they were served with dry AF salads instead of the usual fries. When we asked why they didn't come with fries he said, "I forgot to ask you and just assumed you would want salad." Fairly offensive and annoying because I really wanted those fries. He could of handled that situation a lot better.
It was my birthday so a few friends and I gathered at the bar. Our bartender was absolutely amazing!
I love Schillers !!! I heard you light close? Please don't!!!
We had a great experience! The cocktails were delicious and our waiter was very friendly. All of the food was excellent.
Really liked the interior of the place. Industrial but modern. The food was nothing special but good. Great place for bar seating. Very casual were I would go for an AW.
Solid spot. Cant go wrong. Not too loud. Thumbs up.
A friend and I, who had spent a LOT of time at Schillers in the early 2000's, heard the news and went for dinner. While it was nice to be back for an evening, the service was nonexistent. I realize they're closing so it might be hard to keep a full staff, but they only had one waiter for what looked like the whole restaurant, which of course filled up. One of the things that had set Schillers apart back in the day was the great staff who made us want to keep coming back. It's a lot to ask one person to take on the whole seating area. At this rate I don't know how they'll keep the doors open till August.
Brilliant as ever. So gutted to hear they are closing...
This is a french bistro hiding in New York City. Ever reliable for classics: salmon, steak frites, moule frites--and must have desserts.
Handcrafted cocktails are better than average and the wine selection superb...
Such a babe of a place. I'm so sad it's closing, because it's genuinely a fun place, with great food and cocktails. Get there before august.
Good atmosphere as always but the menu needs freshening up
Food was great. Staff were welcoming.
This has to be one of the better places for brunch. Their eggs benedict with salmon is delicious. I hate the uncomfortable chairs, but worth it for the food.
Food was fantastic. Staff wonderful. Very cool place.
This place has become a classic and I love coming here for the overall ambience. Foodwise expect french bistro style with some small twists.
Service was absolutely great. Everyone was so friendly, food and drinks came put fast, we explained we had not seen each other in decades and we did stay awhile but didnt frel rushed at all (for such a great place to let you hang out, we were surprised and really appreciated). We asked our server if she had a few seconds to take our pic, she said she couldn't right then but promised to return to do it asap, and almost immediately the hostess came over and said "I heard you wanted a picture taken!"
It was pretry loud but we got used to it and didn't mind after awhile.
Everything was great, definitely recommend.
I thought the food was tasty and found the service very friendly. I would definitely return.
Schiller's delivered great food, great service and a great feeling as always. Been there on a date, with work and brought a whole lot of Swedish visitors to Schillers and we are always pleased.
Hostess was very kind and welcoming. She also provided donuts for our anniversary. My only regret was that I didn't tip more.
Amazing place with amazing food. Will come back for sure.
James the waiter is a jewel! He has great back-stories and a wonderful sense of humor, and a spot on intuition. THANK YOU for bringing back the Key Lime Pie!! It was SO missed!! The crust could use a little more butter (just a little drier than normal). If that was my only complaint, that it was a good night!
Yet to disappoint for lunch, brunch or evening food/drinks with the squeeze.
Having a decent bottle of Prosecco for $49 doesn't hurt either!
Went to Schillers for a sunday breakfast before we hopped our plane back to Houston. We ate at a number of restaurants in the Lower East Side this weekend and I have to say, Schillers blew us away. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. Quite honestly, I am jealous nothing like this exists in Houston! We would be there all the time!
Order Steak frites medium rare had sent back steak was barely warm, herb butter on top was frozen and steak wasn't cook MR. sent back still not cooked right and was very chewy. Service was great and ordered Reuben Sandwich special which was delicious
This place is great for a that "not a dive, but not too classy" occasion.
Good Food , loved the Nachos ! Waitress was amazing !
Came to Schiller for a late dinner and feel in love with the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Even for a NYC restaurant, this place is pretty overpriced. $14 for a tiny margarita and $22 for chicken pot pie with an obviously frozen puff pastry crust kinda hurts. The vibe is cool and the deviled eggs are great, though.
The garlic shrimp appetizer is my absolute favorite meal in NYC, and I never miss going to Schiller's on a visit to the city. I also love the bathroom, the fun decor, and how kid-friendly the place is.
The service here was horrible. The waiter had no idea what he was doing and took very long to get drinks, apps, our main meals. EVERYTHING. At one point the bartender came over to assist but it didn't help much. Food and drinks were good but the service really brought the whole experience down.
The food was fantastic, with the exception of the PotPie. Otherwise everything was spot-on, albeit pricey.
Really cool atmosphere and great food. Service was very fast, maybe even a bit too fast but we were going to a concert so it was ok
The Avocado toast and Sangria was delicious! We were there for brunch on Saturday and was pretty quiet but may have been there before the rush.
Worst. Meal. Ever.
Your mussels were like little velvety pockets of pure culinary joy. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the sticky toffee pudding was dense and molasses-y. The cheap wine was phenomenal, and I always love a place that serves picklebacks with a healthy quantity of quality whiskey in the glass.
Overall this place made for an excellent date. I loved the decor, and we will definitely be returning to sample some more of your culinary delights.
