We had not visited the Sardine Factory in many years as there are so many wonderful dinning establishments in the Monterey area. This visit will enhance our decision to go more often. The service was impeccable. Antonio pointed us in the right direction for the prawn appetizer, the escargot, the lobster tails, and the abalone medallions. Accompany the food with cocktails before hand and a beautiful bottle of Nickel and Nickel Chardonnay and your evening is as good as it gets!
Outstanding and award winning wine list. You could spend a few hours just reviewing the wine list.
Sardine Factory is the best restaurant on the peninsula! We highly recommend it... it’s delicious and elegant!
Late Online reservation but was seated on arrival, mix of elegant and casual along with nice ambiance. Comfortable and special place to be for the evening! Now let’s talk food.. the famous abalone chowder was thin, tasteless and overpriced. The prime rib was sold out early, the special shrimp and fillet was decent and under value. The scampi rigatoni was awful too salty and imbalance of simple ingredients. The waiter did not seem concerned it was not edible. The subpar bread does not belong in a fine restaurant. The house wine was good but waiter made no engagement on its origin. The dagger of the night is paying 10 dollars for a pellegrino and 8 for an espresso. I will not return after that.
Dear FrankM, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience at The Sardine Factory. I am sorry that the meal and service fell short of your expectations. I will pass your comments on to the Chef, Management and Owners. We appreciate your patronage and hope you will consider allowing us to serve you again in the future.
Fantastic restaurant, food was great, drinks were great. The guy singing live music was Fantastic and extremely talented
First of all, the Sardine Factory is spectacular. My husband and I went for our anniversary and it was delicious. We absolutely loved it. I personally thought the servers may be a bit uptight but honestly, that was not the case at all. We were welcomed right away and waited maybe five minutes tops to get our table. The sommelier was very knowledgeable. We are from the Mendocino and Napa Valley wine region and he guided us to some amazing wines from Europe. Their cocktails are also very well made. We will definitely be back. Miguel and Mauro gave us extraordinary service. They were very attentive to our needs and made our experience at the Sardine Factory even more enjoyable. The only thing I would say that would be great for improvement is dessert. It was not up to par with everything that is outstanding in this restaurant. However, we are willing to give the dessert another try next time. See you soon!
Der Mrsq52, We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit and thank you for your review. We appreciate you patronage and look forward to serving you again!
Excellent service from the initial greeting to our server Marissa and the rest of the staff. Food is always great and will look forward to our next visit.
Our wait staff was excellent. Knowledgeable but did not hurry our dining experience.
Abalone as good as I remember having here more than 40 years ago.
Mauro was terrific
The meal and service with Marissa was excellent. Flavorful food - Parmesan Calamari steak, sand dabs, ahi tuna and filet mignon dishes were wonderfully prepared. Best meal of our trip.
Wonderful experience. Very friendly staff. Drinks and apps were delicious. Entire staff was 5 star. Thank you for a special Monterey experience.
We had a uch a lovely time! Very fun rooms and decor and the food was just delicious. Will love to return one day.
As usual the service is top notch
Great service the food was awesome and the ambiance and atmosphere was beautiful. The waiters provided exceptional service and made our anniversary special although we dined with a toddler they were very accommodating and we left satisfied! Five stars under the prettiest dome. I ordered the crusted steak calamari and my husband had the rib eye entree
Dear Sflalus, Thank you for choosing The Sardine Factory to celebrate your special occasion. We are delighted you enjoyed your delicious food, great service and memorable atmosphere. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you again!
I loved my visit to the Sardine Factory. The food is rich and heavy, but I expected this and so was not disappointed. It’s kind of a throwback to another time. I appreciated the wonderful service. Would return again when visiting Monterey.
For the ambience, professionalism, experience and large food portions the $$ price tag is worth it! Prime rib au jus is delicious!
Amazing ambience, delicious drinks and food. We had the mushrooms, the abalone chowder, the vinegar tomato salad, the surf n turf, and the Italian trio for desert. Great wait staff too! Pretty pricey but well worth it! The wine list is huge (biggest I’ve seen) but we didn’t partake. We will be back!
EXCELLENT. The abalone medallions are incredible.
Service was amazing. Good was fair. Would be AMAZING, if they didn’t OVER SALT the food/sauce.
The food and atmosphere was superb. Our food was delicious and the music in the bar after dinner was great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and would definitely go back!!!
part of a three day celebration of my husband’s birthday (today is his actual birthday) we decided on dinner at the Sardine Factory.
We had dinner in the atrium and there was a beautiful ambiance. We had a great and attentive server Mauro assisted by Miguel.
My husband ordered a dirty martini along with a dozen oysters to start. I ordered a cup of the abalone chowder and a glass of sparkling wine to start. The martini did need to be a little dirtier; but the waiter fixed it up right away. The abalone chowder was fabulous.
My husband’s entree was grilled abalone over mushroom risotto accompanied by fresh asparagus. It was delicious as well as yummy looking. I ordered the lobster ravioli. It did not disappoint! There were delicious hot sourdough rolls and crisp bread sticks to enhance the meal.
At the end of the meal and to celebrate my husband’s birthday, the waiter brought a complimentary piece of Sachertorte. What a perfect ending!
