Sapori Ristorante - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
The worst service I’ve ever had. Waited 20 minutes to be greeted by our waiter- no water, nothing. He acknowledged the busy night and then provided brusque impersonal service. While the food was very good we won’t go back. Very overpriced for a mediocre experience. Disappointed in the experience.
Sappori is one of my ' go to ' places in Newport Beach. It's off the schedule of the jet set which makes it nice, as you can have a wonderful meal, with amazing service, yet don't feel rushed or as if your waiter is auditioning for a part on a TV series. It never fails, nor fails to exceed your expectations.
There were 8 of us at a nice round table. We were seated right away and the food was good. The service was very slow. Once we received our food, no one ever came back to the table to see if everything was okay, to see if anyone wanted anything else. Everyone was sitting there with empty glasses, and no one even asked if anyone wanted another drink, glass of wine, etc. We had to flag down our server to get another glass of wine. Also, my meal was not very hot. I got the impression it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while before bringing it to the table.
The food is the star as it should be at a restaurant... the service is a little slow and very common for a Newport Beach restaurant. I think every single restaurant in NPB feels like they don't need the customers... it's a weird thing that is very noticeable in San Francisco and NPB. Would I go back? Yes! I would just lower my timely expectations. Not a big deal.
Very disappointed in both food quality and value. We ordered seafood dishes and they were both very dry. I also felt they overpriced. Almost $40 for a pacific swordfish that was average at best.
I've dined here before but was quite disappointed on this visit.
Romantic seating on the patio with fireplace/candles and trees lined with white lights. Loved it! Service, food, and ambiance are all worth the trip. Veal Saltimboca and Pasta Bolognese were both great choices. Would highly recommend for a quiet romantic dinner or just a relaxing place to visit with friends. When in the area will be sure to stop in again..
Sapori never disappoints! It is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. The eggplant appetizer is filled with aromatic goat cheese and perfectly grilled. We usually also order the calamari and bruschetta. We enjoyed the house pasta and a pizza. The bread is Ana big. Be careful not to fill up it! The wines by the glass are reasonable. We love the outdoor patio and Pino is our favorite server. It's delicious food served on a beautiful setting. Relax and enjoy your time there !
We dined at this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We had requested a quiet table but found one does not exist in this energetic restaurant. Large tables of diners were quite loud and the acoustics in the restaurant seemed to magnify the volume. The servers were quick and friendly and obviously very busy. Our seats near the kitchen were bumped into most of the evening.
My husband chose the lamb chop special and said it was "just okay." The sauce on my Parpardelle alla Bolognese was delicious but the large pasta ribbons were over-cooked and fell apart when trying to lift it with my fork.
The wine list selection is large enough but wines that we normally purchase at Costco for $16 were sold here for $57. We opted to bring our own favorite Italian wine; we even shared a taste with our server. We were STUNNED by the $25 corkage fee on our bill at the end of the evening! We expect this amount at a fine dining steakhouse or in Vegas but not from a strip mall restaurant. The free birthday dessert was a kind treat but we probably will not return.
I am very sorry to say that the food here was very disappointing, and for the quality exceptionally overpriced. Frankly the 3 pasta dishes our party had were no better than what you could get from supermarket pasta and sauces. I cannot recommend this restaurant.
