Below average food and poor service. Dining room was empty. One of our guests couldn't get an alcoholic beverage-except for beer or wine- because no bartender was on duty.
Food was very good
We love the 2/$40 Friday night special. Server Bryan is excellent and the food is very tasty.
I enjoyed the brunch but for the money should have had someone cooking waffles because they were cold and taste better after being just cold hopefully next time this will be changed
A group of us went to dinner at the Sanctuary, we were referred by our good friend. We were greeted by a young man who let us make changes to our seats as more people arrived then we had expected. Our server was Ben, who was very professional and gave us recommendations on food. Food was great and wine fantastic!!
This is the second time that we have met at the restaurant and both times now, we have enjoyed both food and the service. The staff was friendly, the surroundings beautiful and classic, and the food was wonderful.
I have to say we were very surprised on this visit. The service was not a 5 star like the last time we came here and the food was mediocre. My companion had the chicken and pasta as did one of our guests the last time we went. This time, thumbs down. The sauce was watery and had no flavor. I ordered deviled eggs, and a ricotta dish from the dinner menu. I returned the ricotta dish as it was not prepared correctly. Deviled eggs were like I can make at home, even though mine are better.
Our server was not attentive. I would request a different server if we return again.
No way this buffet was worth $46 per person! Ham, eggs, etc. fool me once. Service was outstanding deserts were poor
It was decent lunch food--just slow service.
Great place to have dinner. Host is very professional, manager is very nice and attentive, good food. Moreover, excellent service, ask for Brian. Definitely recommend it.
We ate everything we ordered just not the biggest fan of the menu...Will we come back yes but more so for the bar....Wine was great and the bare was beautiful! !
The food was really good. My wife and I went there for breakfast. We arrived 15 minutes before breakfast and it, so the noise wasn't as loud since people are leaving. But overall, the server was friendly, service was fast, and we enjoy ourselves.
A wonderful breakfast bar with eggs, waffles, sausage, and fruit.
The food was good and ambiance is nice. Our server seemed to not want to be there as he was not friendly or helpful (didn't go out of his way to anticipate our needs) he answered questions and that's it.
There is no doubt that this restaurant is in a hotel as there is little separation being wide open to the lobby. I did not expect that. As we dined it was incredibly noisy with hotel traffic, children running around, and pool goers in their suits. This volume made conversation difficult. The food was good, not great, but definitely not what you would expect for the price. Our server was attentive and nice, but overlooked lipstick marks on our wine glasses. I am glad we finally tried Sanctuary, but definitely will not return.
Unfortunately, there is little good I can say about our business dinner at Sanctuary. The drinks we ordered never arrived. Not late, just never. Our dinner took over 2 hours to arrive, and was at best mediocre when it did. The "seared scallops" that came battered and rubbery should be avoided.
Our entrees were steak and frites , and crispy chicken with asparagus. Dessert was bread pudding w/vanilla ice cream. All were excellent.
I was planning a birthday dinner for my husband. We have family in the Warren/Niles area, Chagrin Falls and we are from Lakewood. We were looking for a restaurant in between and this fit the bill. First, they gave me no issues booking for a party of 16. I booked on open table and then did call to confirm. The manager, Debbie, assured me that they have the reservations, asked our preferred seating and said we would have a great time. She was correct! Our sever was AWESOME, the food was spectacular and the restaurant is really lovely. Not a typical place for the lobby of a hotel. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend Sanctuary! Thank you for a great experience!!!
Ordered shrimp and grits - reminded me of airline food. Companion ate truffle mac and cheese - she was hungry but looked unappetizing and I didn't ask to try it. Thank goodness I received 1000 points because I would not go there again ----even if McDonalds went bankrupt!
Food was ok. Not really worth the price. Service was very slow and not that friendly. Probably wouldn't suggest it to anyone or go back. The place looks really nice though. Just nothing impressive.
Delicious food across all items! Friendly attentive service made us feel welcome.
The food was ok but the service made up for that. It was a pretty cold night and I was grateful to the service staff for putting me and my wife in warm area. The food was ok, but a bit greasy.
Having recently read in our local newspaper that Sanctuary was one our areas top suburban dining spots to try I booked a reservation for dinner on Saturday Jan 1. I knew that service on a holiday could be ifee but I assumed that a restaurant located in a hotel would at least make an effort at providing hotel guests and others a fair level of service. Sanctuary proved me wrong. When we arrived promptly for our reservation at the host stand the person manning the position walked away without acknowledging us. We noticed that aside from a table of about 8 or 10 the dining room was empty. Several minutes later another staff member greeted us and escorted us to a table. At least we assumed it was our table as he threw down a cocktail menu/wine list on to a table and kept walking without any indication that this was where he wanted us to sit. My guest and I decided to move to another table not far from where we had been left. The same staff member returned with dinner menus and preceded to inform us that he was very busy and we would need to be patient. My guest and I looked at each other and within a few seconds we decided to leave the restaurant and try our luck elsewhere.
Hey Sanctuary, in an area with lots of competition for customers you truly only had one chance to make a good first impression.
I was looking for something for my husband and I for Christmas night and stumbled on this little restaurant in the Double Tree hotel. Great food, attentive weiters. Will be back.
Overpriced!!!!! Way overpriced !
Great food as always!
Had a private room for our dinner party and it was perfect. Took a bit longer to get our drinks than it seemed it should have, but everything came out correct and delicious. The servers were very courteous of our gift exchange and waited to bring checks until we had finished. Even though we stayed very late, we never felt rushed to leave. Great place for large groups or intimate dinners.
My dad went to Sanctuary on Thanksgiving. We went there last year, and I have to say there was a very big difference in the way the food was prepared last year to this year. Last year was fantastic. This year it was mediocre at best. I had the crab cake appetizer, and they were soggy and made with canned crab. I know the difference between fresh and canned. I had the scallops with chowder risotto as my entree. The scallops were carmelized only on one side, and the "risotto" was rice boiled in some kind of stock with some potatoes thrown in. The chef should call it chowder rice. My dad had the turkey dinner and it was ok, but last year it was excellent. On the plus side, the service was excellent and all of the staff was friendly, welcoming and professional. I will definitely give Santuary another chance. based on the service and the great meal we had last year, I would recommend it, but if Sanctuary wants a consistent check in the fit for foodies box, then they need to prepare food that is deserving of that.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere. We had the Thanksgiving buffet . We all enjoyed the sumptuous holiday fare. The turkey, dressing, and greens were a savory delight.
We weren't too hungry so we opted for the appetizers. I had the tomato basil soup, which was very good, and my friend had the clam chowder, which was the better choice.
Then we each had the chorizo flatbread. It was delicious. The crust was thicker than normal flatbreads so it was rather filling. We were very pleased with our meal.
We arrived 10 minutes early for a noon reservation and were asked to wait until the Wine Bar/Restaurant opened. No problem. We returned at noon and were graciously seated and made to feel very welcome by a very attentive server.
We were then told that the Bartender was running late and that we could not order wine with our luncheon. Disappointed, we ordered food and were told a few minutes later that the Bar was now open.
Truth be told, the FOOD IS THE STAR! A wonderful Chopped Cobb Salad, Superb Tomato and Basil Bisque, and a small Caesar Salad and Turkey Wrap were all fresh, tasted great, and presented pleasantly.
After the Bar Glitch, everything else went well and "all's well that ends well".
We'll be back to see if the food and friendly service are the same on the second go around.
A friend and I were in the area and Sanctuary came up as something nearby when I searched OpenTable for availabilities. The host was very friendly and the server was not too prompt, but was also quite nice. The server assistant, on the other hand, was a bit too present for my liking. The deviled eggs and vegetable pot stickers (small portions) were fantastic and I loved the Gnocchi entree. My guest ordered the braised beef, and while he loved the incredibly tender dish, I thought it came off a bit too much like Thanksgiving meal. Dessert menu looked tempting but we decided we'd try something on a return trip, although we haven't decided if we'll return again. A note on the ambience- the restaurant decor and lighting wasn't up to par with the price of the menu. The room was simply too bright, but the bar side of the place looked cozier.
We were given the royal treatment. The food was prepared to our satisfaction.
The place I pricy but good food is worth it.
The Friday night special was tasty and the presentation was lovely. Brian, the server, was friendly and pleasant. We love the DRIFTWOOD properties.
We had a party of 14 ladies out for dinner at Sanctuary. The food was not on the level of it's price point. We sampled each other's dishes as we tried several different items on the menu and the running comment was the lack of flavor. To me the presentation was very nice. The food was plated in a manner that made you excited to try it. After the first bite is was quite obvious that it looked way better than it tasted. Oh well. The staff was great. From the host to the servers, they were excellent. I will be hesitant to try the food again as my entree was $25 and that is a lot to experiment with.
Great value. Try the 2-for-40 dinner special, and be sure to chat with Michael.
Forget my servers name but she was great. Very attentive and easy to talk to. I enjoyed a nice, quiet, and enjoyable solo lunch. The lunchbox option was perfect -one serving each of soup, salad, and a sandwich.
Our server was great, food was great, similar menu to Hodges. Nice decor in restaurant but is located in a hotel lobby. It was almost empty, one other couple at a table, some patrons at the bar. Had I known it was in a hotel lobby, would not have made a reservation. Reservation was definitely not needed!
Excellent restaurant. The food was terrific with a nice selection and very good service.
Dinner was excellent, and the service was extraordinary!
