We met another couple there to sample the Tapas and cocktails. Loved the eclectic decor and casual atmosphere. The service was fantastic. The food was very tasty and served piping hot as it was brought out as each dish was completed. A few of the Tapas options seemed a little high priced for the serving you received, but others were quite reasonable. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.
We ate outside in a beautiful night. Food was very different. Very tasty! Service was very good. A fun place to go. A bit on the pricey side. We only ordered from he small tapas side because anything more was above $22 bucks!
The food and service was very good. My only complaint it the noise level. It was a Saturday evening and the noise level was so high my guests and I could not talk.
We had a wonderful time here! The cocktails were different and delicious, the food was amazing, and the environment soooo interesting. We highly recommend dining on the patio!
We had a fun time during our first visit and would like to return again to try some of the tapas
Sanctuaria was fantastic. I took my girlfriend for a Saturday night date, and we had a great time! The food was delicious, and we enjoyed sharing the small plates. I had heard the plates were small, so we actually overcompensated by ordering 2 small plates,
Queso, and an entree. We ended up with more food than we could handle! Drinks were pricey but also delicious - the smoked pineapple margarita was very good but very strong, worth the money.
We chose to eat at an outside table, which was perfect. The weather was nice and the environment was lovely, so it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall, we had a great time and will certainly go back. It was a bit pricey, but well worth the money!
Nice place and good food
A really fun setting- a bit Goth, and a dash of steam punk. Very good Mexican food, terrific waiters. A fun spot for gathering.
My wife, son and I visited Sanctuaria on a Saturday evening during Father’s Day weekend. While it was very warm, the shaded outdoor seating was comfortable. The outside decor has an eclectic mix of sculptures and is much larger than we realized. Only minor complaint was a table and chairs that were placed on an area that was not level ground.
The service was excellent throughout the evening with no less than 5 or 6 people assisting with food and drink delivery as we worked our way through the tapas and cocktail menus.
The food was very tasty, well-prepared, well-presented and served promptly. Our favorites were the rellenos, chimichurri steak with potatoes, and blue cheese “cigars”. The drinks were also excellent and perfect for a warm summer evening - just the right combination of flavors and presentation.
Amazing food; service is not great—seems to be inexperienced abs poorly managed. Our waiter was super friendly and knew the menu really well, but he was inattentive in several other ways (tried to sell us a menu item we’d already ordered and had already been delivered to the table, entrees were delivered with 10-15 minute delay between individual orders without warning/heads-up). We also were bothered at least 3 times by staff asking if an entree or drink belonged to us—it seemed no one knew where food was supposed to be delivered to. Pretty annoying. Also asked a group of staff where the bathroom was and no one had a quick answer.
When in town we always visit Sanctuaria, it's got the best vibe, interesting people and there's something for everyone.
Excellent service,friendly staff
the restaurant was closed for food even though we had a reservation
they should reconcile their hours with open table
we were looking forward to it and were very disappointed
The restaurant apparently failed to report that we had kept our OpenTable reservation. That has been addressed, but should be a small note of caution.
The food was outstanding and the service was quite good. The decor was funky and modern, but particularly noisy as is common in modern restaurants. Prices were slightly higher than I thought they should be, but overall not horrible - $115 for 3 people with alcohol and dessert.
I hope to return to this restaurant if/when I’m back in St Louis - there are a lot of great temptations on the menu. I certainly recommend it to others!
Our server just never came around. The food was wonderful and creative.
While looking for good food while visiting St. Louis, we found this place. Creative cocktails; attentive, quick service; funky decor; and absolutely delicious tapas. Next time we're in St. Louis, we'll go back to this restaurant.
Awesome, wonderful and very different restaurant than I usually go to. Great choice and everything was perfect. Great patio, service and food. Can’t wait to go back.
Amazing food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend!
As always we loved the food and drinks. One of our favorite places
We were seated by a large noisy group and the other tables were correspondingly loud. Fortunately the large group exited and the other loud tables did as well and the atmosphere was much more pleasant. Food was terrific- best corn bread I may have ever had -- being from the South I have eaten it all my life. Service was sufficient and friendly. Ambiance was playful and welcoming
The restaurant now has a 3 part menu: a tapas section, a section from a now-defunct Mexican restaurant and a new food-to-table section. Despite this, remarkably, there's only one salad or vegetable choice, and that an entree salad. One of us ordered from the tapas section, the other from the farm to table. Food came out in a disjointed manner, so the entree was finished before the dinner salad was delivered. The braised rabbit entree had a heavy vinegary finish which was unpleasant. Service was great and so were the plantain chips. Overall, though, a very uneven experience which won't tempt us to go back.
It’s not what your think right off the bat. It’s hard to find the front for the first time. Then later you are in for a big surprise. The tapas plate are totally amazing. We were offered the guacamole and oh my god, I’m from So Cal. And it’s right there with East LA.....Unbelievable!! The other dishes we had were also extremely flavorful. The use of the Spanish chorizo with the regular meat is outrageous. And with a good choice of reds OMG, I was lovin it. Highly recommend!!!
Had a nice evening, Love the giant drinks list to order from, small plates were excellent as well
Small plates and service were excellent. Good neighborhood hangout. Fabulous cocktails.
Good drinks, food and service. The only thing I ask is to wipe off the menus each night. Our first impression just after sitting down wasn’t that great because of sticky menus. After that, all was good.
Wr had 6 small tapas plates. Highly recommend the Bacon wrapped dates, Vaca Frita with Chimichurri and Beggars’ Purse. Unfortunately serves was poor, our waiter Ben rarely checked on us and got a few things wrong on our order.
We tried 5-6 different tapas and enjoyed them all. Best perhaps were the stuffed peppers and the sliders. Beverages were unique and tasty - accommodated our requested adjustments with no problems. Very personable and knowledgeable server. Would go again.
We went for a birthday. There were 8 of us. There was also another table with about 12 and all the other tables were packed. We had a blast, it is loud, but I came for a fun night not dinner with grandma. We pretty much had all the tapas and most of the entrees and they were all great. The specialty drinks were terrific. The only thing I would change, but it would be logistically tough is the bathroom situation. Other than that we had a great time and will for sure go back to sit outside when the weather is right.
This is a delectable tapas restaurant. All the menus items are delicious, some have a slight south of the boarder influence. Whether you choose from appetizers or mains, we enjoyed the items, sometimes ordering a repeat. Only thing it is not very private for conversations. The tables are VERY close together. Was our first time there, The outdoor seating looks fab! Will try it in warmer weather - hope they have some live music!
Our waiter was absolutely awesome. The food and drinks were outstanding! The interior decorating itself may be one of the coolest places in St. Louis. Love this place!
Waiter was great and food delicious!
I love coming to Sanctuaria for the great food, the super dark and romantic vibe, and the fun and friendly service. Try the journeyman cocktail, the fried plantain chips and the stuffed dates.
Ended up here by luck of the draw and was surprised by everything throughout the evening. Food was great with a lot of variety. The drink menu was vast with great twists on the classics and the house drinks were fantastic. However the one drawback, even at 8:30 the place was crazy loud. The tables were not oversized by any means yet to hold a conversation everyone felt like we were shouting. All being said, I will return many times I'm sure.
Cool location. Food was all pretty good, especially the poultry plate.
The restaurant itself was really dark and really loud, which isn’t normally a problem, but it was especially dark in Sanctuaaria.
I’d likely go back there with a larger group and split a few plates.
First time there, was super dope. Food was great, I could’ve easily ordered the entire menu everything was that good. Really nice ambiance. Will be back.
Great ambience and drinks! Service was ok with a few misses. Food though not spectacular, was good!
We've eaten at Sanctuaria several times, now. Their brunch is very original. Dinner the other night was creative and delicious. Ylena, our waitress was excellent.
Just a great, unique restaurant. If you want a change of pace and great food and service, a great place to go. The Autumn Old Fashioned was an A++++.
The food is delicious, and the wine and beer list extensive. They also have a few, but excellent, single malts. The wait staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
The food was wonderful had 4 different tapas plus the stuffed. Mushrooms and quesadilla. The mushrooms where stuffed with venison and an herb stuffing like mixture. The quesadilla was stuffed with goat cheese and duck the goat cheese was a little string or too much of it took away the flavor of of the duck confit. All 4 of the tapas where wonderful., don’t remember there names..
