Amazing food! We shared lots of small plates for the variety and had plenty to eat. Try the cigars with blue cheese fondue and the grilled shrimp. Guacamole and chips great. Only negative was the noise level. Until people left it was hard to carry on a conversation. I’m going back!
My wife and I had a great time here. The staff were friendly and professional, the food was fantastic, the drinks were great and the decor is a lot of fun. Not sure what more you could ask for of a restaurant.
Amazing people working there, very friendly and service was amazing. The food was delicious and the cocktails were refreshing. Will definitely go back, and I wish I had stopped in years ago.
Our first visit and didn’t know what to expect. The food was amazing. The beggars purse and lime poached shrimp— sumptuous! Our service was friendly , informative and attentive. We will definitely be back and will bring friends. A great new find!
The food was beyond what we expected. The atmosphere and service are top notch. We will definitely return.
Everything was amazing!!! All of my friends commented how they would be back.
The outdoor patio was amazing! Perfect place for a romantic date or special occassion
Loved the experimental process that offers visual and cultural creativity as a defining value. Highly relaxed, fun, and extremely tasty. Great place to go eat and enjoy good friend(s).
Good food, a little spicy. Great service. Ate in the bar area to take advantage of happy hour specials.
Very average food quality. Poor service. Out of two quality berr choices, possibly more.
My group and I had a great time. We were able to share a lot of dishes and everything came out delicious. The service was excellent, and we would highly recommend Sanctuaria to anyone.
I just hope this was a case of the wrong night. I think the owner was in the house with a group and he got all the attention. Probably all the sangria too because after waiting 35 minutes for our drink they came to tell us they were all out of sangria. Other than one extremely nice server the whole experience was near depressing.
The restaurant has a funky, interesting feel and decor, and the food is really good. The price is high compared to the food (guacamole and chips need not be expensive). The server was very unfamiliar with the menu items and the drinks, particularly the drinks the restaurant claims are unique. The prices for the unique drinks is incredibly high.
Food was mediocre and slow service. Nice patio for a drink. Would not return.
Band was too loud. Pricey for such little plates. They were out of the one thing we ordered off menu!
I was in town for a conference and stopped in with a colleague for happy hour after hearing that this place was on the list of America’s Beat Bourbon Bars and the St. Louis Magazine’s Best Restaurant list. It completely lived up to both designations! The food was excellent and a great value. We were waited on by the mixologist, who was incredibly helpful in guiding our choice of drinks and brought out 2 bourbons local to Missouri when we asked for something unique. I highly recommend!
I decided to go to Sanctuaria to celebrate my graduation. The food was amazing. We sat out on the patio and I couldn't have asked for better weather. Our waiter was just amazing. I'm grateful that Sanctuaria gave me such a great experience to add to an already amazing day.
Absolutely love Sanctuaria. I’ve been a couple times now and just absolutely love the vibe and the service/food/cocktails couldn’t be better.
Always great for a casual dinner. We always order tapas and it is delivered quickly and tastes great. Service is timely and helpful with navigating the menu and making suggestions.
Service was great, but the food and cleanliness in the bathrooms were not.:(
With a total of 7 people in our party that had never been here before, the wait staff for our table was phenomenal. They were very attentive, and were ready to answer any questions we had. All the food I tried during the meal was delicious, but a few that stood out are the Beggars Purse and the Frita Sliders. Only a few of us ordered cocktails, but they were all phenomenal. I had the The Bends and The Blonde Ambition. The atmosphere here is just astounding. This may not be a place I go to weekly or month, but definitely is on a list of places for special occasions.
The food tasted good, but the portions were absurdly small. For example, we ordered the tostones for $10 and it was a plate with 5 small plantain chips on it, like these were maybe 2" in diameter or less. I ordered the $28 lamb lollipops/chops and it was two small, very fatty lamb chops served on a bed of a handful of sweet potato cubes. AND the lamb was plated on a small palm sized tapas plate so very difficult to eat; bizarre presentation of a food item listed under main courses and not under the tapas list. The patio is exotic and interesting looking, but it's right beside a busy street so there was a lot of traffic noise.
The food tasted delicious however the amount you received for the price was absolutely ridiculous. The prices were the same as what a regular entree would be at a normal restaurant, not a tapas restaurant. The service was decent and it’s a cool atmosphere. I just would not recommend or return because of the value.
If you go to Sanctuaria, you must try the Wicked Good Shrimp. The sauce is amazing!
Food was awesome!! Queso was delicious!!
Drinks were very creative!
The drinks were very small for the $12 price. The menu needs more tapas under $10.
Very good and unique place.
Highly recommend trying.
Jeanie is the greatest! Amazing atmosphere, killer house cocktails, BEST food, and the service is next level. Everyone should go
The food was excellent. Everyone enjoy their meals and we all ate something different. The only complaint was that they sat us in the back of the restaurant near a door where all of the employees were leaving to smoke. It was freezing that night and so we would have enjoyed the meal more had there not been so much cold air blowing through the restaurant. I am sure that there's a much better Ambiance when the weather is warmer.
I'd heard their reputation for excellent, unique craft cocktails, and I wasn't disappointed. The bartender was clearly enthusiastic about his craft, and brought our drinks out to our table himself. The drink "God Save the Queen" was a particularly delightful surprise. I didn't try the food, but I will certainly go back for the drinks!
Food was delicious, service was excellent!
The overall vibe of Sanctuaria was very intimate and relaxing. The bartenders were super helpful and accommodating. The food and drink quality was wonderful. I will definitely be back!
Made reservations two days in advance. Arrived on time and table wasn't ready. Ten minutes later the hostess seated us right next to the restroom. There were several other tables, so when I asked to be re-seated, she told me they had a 10-top coming in...basically "tough luck".
Shocked at her response since there were many 4-top tables uncleaned and clearly open, I asked my wife if she'd like to leave. She was engaged in a conversation with the folks seated at the adjacent 4-top table (also right next to the restroom) who had complained about the same thing except they had a reservation for six, only four made it, so they gave up their 6-top nowhere near the restroom only to regret it. The manager was rude to them...they were livid.
We should have just left.
It took 2 requests to get a second menu., 2 more to get water. Then the waitress arrived and asked if we had made up our minds...like this was a cheap diner with a wall-menu or something. We asked for the renowned drink menu -- one of the main reasons we made a reservation -- only to learn from her that "nobody ever looks in there" and that she couldn't recommend a single drink. My wife got the drink the waitress said "is the most popular"...which turned out to be $22 and not good.
We ordered three small plates as appetizers. The first was hot on top, cold on the bottom...didn't take Albert Einstein to figure it out. The others were just OK. Ordered the Meatloaf (which was great) and the Jambalaya off the main plates menu. The latter consisted of four meatball-sized fried balls – for $18!. Asked if that was the small plates version and got the stare. What a ripoff!
Desserts arrived. Churros weighed 4 ounces each. Fried too cold – grease sponges. Was offered a dessert off the Valentine's Day menu from two days prior – was dry, tasted like it had been sitting out the whole time.
Oh, the 10-top never showed up. All but one of the other tables were still empty when we left 90 minutes later.
It was our first time at Sanctuaria, the food was very good, honestly I think I had the best chicken fajitas ever! The margarita was perfect! But the service was very slow and the waitress was weird!? But there was a lot of people saturday night and it is not surprising if it took some time to get the drinks and the food! But I do recommand to try this restaurant and we will go again I am sure!
This is the second time I have been to Sanctuaria and it is now one of my favorites in St Louis. It is a fun atmosphere with great food. I think it is better to go with friends or other couples as it allows you to try more of the menu. Go, you won't be disappointed.
My reservation was at 7:15. We did show up early to our reservation and was promptly accomodated. Food was delicious, drinks were too but service lacked. Not because our waitress was bad, but because she had too many tables.
Best tapas in town , had a great time and drinks were amazing
The reason I took my wife here for Valentine’s Day was bc we have been here before, and loved the menu.
When we went for Valentine’s Day, we only had 3 entree options, and no options from their normal Tapad menu (this is supposed to be a tapas restaurant?). We got the “dinner for 2” for $135, and I have to say - the food was not impressive or cheap. We were definitely disappointed. Lesson learned - moving forward, I will always verify what menu will be offered prior making dinner reservations on special days/holidays at any restaurant.
All of that said, the staff there is always great and friendly. Good atmosphere. As long as the old menu comes back, we will too.
Always good food and prompt service
Great food & atmosphere would return. Service on excellent
Evan was great and moved quickly with our order. He also made great suggestions. Seating was crowded and we were placed next to a large group. Hostess would not move us to another table further away that was available.
