👏JUST 👏 GO 👏 HERE
Food SUPER AMAZING, this is my second time here and it’s still just as fresh and tasty. Drinks, I think, were perfect not too bitter not too sweat. Also the food comes out so quickly they definitely have a routine down in that kitchen
We loved the food but the noise level was unbearable. I think we need to go back at lunchtime or not during restaurant week
Best deal for restaurant week, hands down! My friend and I each got 5 dishes (one from each category on the menu) plus 4 adorable ice cream cones for dessert. My favorite plate on the menu is the Rock shrimp, but the Chili Prawns could give the shrimp a run for its money!
Amazing food and even better service. They ran a little late on getting us seated which was fine it was a busy night and we were a party of 6. After we were seated they brought out complimentary appetizers for the wait that were incredible and unexpected, we really appreciated that. Our waiter was so nice and knowledgeable, he even helped one of our friends learn how to use chopsticks when he saw us struggling. Haven’t had genuine service like that in a very long time. 10/10 would recommend this place for any occasion, it was a great experience.
Great small place, trendy without being obnoxious and really great food! We went for restaurant week and they had fantastic choices. Wish there were better dessert options but it’s understandable for the price. The servers were extremely professional and knowledgeable about the menu and very kind. We had to wait 15 mins past our reservation time so that was a bit annoying and not a great start to the evening but it was packed with large parties so we figured that was why. Once we were seated we had a great time! Definitely would come back, maybe on a less busy day. Side note: the kimchi rice was insanely delicious!
The food was amazing. The restaurant week deal could have been better, but the food was good. Our server was very dry, and seemed unhappy.
Loved The pad Thai, the soup dumplings , the Rock shrimp ...it was all amazing I highly recommend trying this restaurant
It’s a really nice restaurant! The food there is amazing, but the background music is a bit too loud for me. Also there’s a piece of plastic in my food. After I told the waitress the manager came specifically to apologize. The service is really nice.
Food and service were great. The venue is a bit noisy.
Went for center city restaurant week and the food was amazing. The “flowing kitchen” concept was different, but didn’t detract from the experience. The music was louder than me and my girlfriend would have liked, but we were able to have a conversation without a strain. Overall we had a great time and would def return. The chili prawns and xo fried rice were out of this world.
Food and service was spectacular. Kitchen was little backed up and slow but our waiter more than made up for it. Very cool ambiance except that the restroom was deplorable filthy
This was our first time. The food was very good but was confused on the charge. We didn't know we were SHARING A TASTING per table yet charged $35 each. Now we know. Parking is a bit tricky. Reserve AFTER 5PM in order to get special parking rates at EZ Park, Park Corporation or LAZ Parking
It was long due visit and I am glad I could get the reservation. The food was good however, I was disappointed that the menu did not have lot of choices for people who eat veg. or chicken in meat option. Since its an always a crowded places, we had to wait for more than 15 minutes for our table to get ready even when we had a reservation. The service was impressive. I recommend this place for great cocktails and dinner with friends but would give it a second thought for date nights or romantic celebrations.
Hostesses are horrible. Servers were amazing. Food is incredible.
Our server and food were absolutely wonderful. I’d consider my girlfriend and I regulars. Whenever we have a problem this establishment never seems to have a problem fixing it quickly. I love coming here, it’s always a lot of fun for happy hour. Recommend the Crab Rangoon and the wings; to die for!
The food and drinks where incredible. The ceviche is a must
We loved our waitress Brooke, who, when things got a little slow and antsy, took charge and gave us the best service each of us has ever had by providing quick and easy service, detailed descriptions of the menu and frequent check-ins. Fantastic time had by all.
There were 4 of us who dined on 9/7/19, for my brother in law’s birthday. My husband and I have been to Sampan many times, but my brother in law and his girlfriend had never been. Being that my husband and I have always loved Sampan, we thought it’d be great to celebrate at one of our favorite places.
My husband and I thought the food was just okay. My brother in law and his girlfriend thought otherwise, but it was also their first time. We’ve always thought the food was phenomenal, up until last night. It lacked the great flavors that we had always experienced in the past. The chicken bao bun had no flavor at all, despite that it was dipped in what I believe was some sort of chili sauce. My husband said the duck wasn’t as good as he remembered in the past, and the short rib lo mein was definitely different than the last time we were there about a year or so ago. It also lacked flavor, and the short rib was much fattier. We also ordered one of the Scorpion bowls. It’s an alcoholic drink in a fish bowl, and it’s $32 for one (which is meant to be shared). For $32 we got something that tasted like watered down tea or something. You’d think it’d be worth the $32 you spent on ONE drink.
Everything else (the service, ambience, the quality time spent) was great, we were just really disappointed in the dining experience. It’s a shame because the vibe is a really good vibe, but I probably won’t be returning any time soon. I’d def try Double Knot though - haven’t been there yet!
Great food and great service!
Great food! Always love to dine here. We use Sampan's Vegetarian Menu and it has ample selection. Usually need to order most the items on the menu, but always good! Edamame Dumplings, Tofu Tacos and Fried Rice are the favorites. Suggest not ordering from their drink list, just get a standard drink - they use a lot of syrups and it becomes over sweet and too much flavor.
Sampan was a great find and we will head back again in the future. The tasting menu provides a great sampling of the overall cuisine and is all delicious.
Had a party of five, four people arrived but they still refused to seat us until the last guest is there. They gave our table away.
Great food! Great service! Definitely on my list of favorite food spots in Philly.
Fantastic food, fantastic service - hands down top restaurant in Philadelphia.
Hands down one of the best places to grub in Philly. I come here once a month for work and it’s always one of my go-to’s. Location is great for a post shopping meal that’s really high quality. Pro tip: the Brussel sprouts are perfection and the tasting menu is worth every penny.
Food was amazing! Staff was attentive and genuinely nice.
Awesome place! Dinner was excellent service excellent! Highly recommend .
Delicious food, awesome service. Can’t ask for more
Amazing ambience. Chefs tasting menu is such great value and let us try so many different dishes.
food was amazing and service was too!
Some dishes were great others so-so. Cocktails a bit overpriced and weak. Overall, good place.
Christine was our server, this was our first time here (my daughter and I). She explained the menu to us and how the open kitchen works. Food was fresh, hot and delicious! There was also a female server who, when my daughter asked about using the restroom, took her to show her exactly where is was. EVERYONE here was so friendly, we will be back! We came to see Hamilton, this is a great place to get a bite to eat before a show at the Forrest Theater. Christine is fabulous, thank you!
Great service. Good food. Great atmosphere. Thanks
We had the tasting menu and each dish was better then the one before! Our server, Daniel, kept us on track to get to the theater on time. Will definitely be back
It was the greatest food I've ever tasted especially the Peking Duck Fried Rice was delicous and made my anniversary one to remember forever
Sampan is my favorite restaurant in the city. I brought my parents here and did the chef’s tasting (which I recommend for all first timers) and they loved every single thing. Service was outstanding as always.
Food was excellent and service was very good. Drinks were pricy and so was the food but for good reason both were excellent. A bit noisy it was difficult talking sometimes but I would definitely go back.
We have been in this restaurant few times and we loved it! This past visit was not the same at all .
everything tasted completely different .
The edamame dumplings tasted very sour , the tuna rice crackers was stale and the other items were not tasteful at all. We ever asked if they changed the chef.
Disappointed by size of entrees; chicken sandwich was bland. Everything else was nothing short of perfect.
