Designed by Philadelphia’s Sparks Design and Urban Space Development, Sampan offers seating for up to 120 guests in a warm, comfortable setting. The restaurant features reclaimed timber, distressed metals and a rustic, natural aesthetic anchored by a custom-crafted, color washed painting that illuminates the room and lends a soft, glowing ambiance to the cozy space.

It was bad! What you can get in Chinatown for less and made better, was overpriced and made me sick. Service was mediocre and not anything special. The servers there are lazy and don’t deserve the tips.

The food was great but everyone’s food was misplaced all over the table, 5 different food runners were just dropping food wherever they cook without checking to see who ordered it. People who had no been there before were not sure what the food was and if it was what they had ordered or not.

My experience at Sampan is usually excellent. My only criticism for this visit is that my kimchi fried rice was a little cold. I love my food hot especially when there’s a poached egg involved.

Let's start at the beginning...the hostess greeted us with a smile and seated us immediately. The server came around quickly and made a few suggestions when we told him it was our first time at Sampan. The drinks were solid great flavor and a good amount of alcohol. The appetizers were some of the best tacos I have ever had. None of the rest of the tasting menu disappointed either. Needless to say we will be back.

Food and ambiance was exactly what it’s always been and how I like it to be at Sampan. Waiter was good and attentive, but never acknowledged the special occasion noted in the reservation, which was a little disappointing, bc they have at least mentioned it before and tried to make it feel a little extra special.

I have been to Sampan a ton and every time it was awesome but for some reason this time the food was off. I had the tuna rice crackers and the tuna was very fishy and tasted like it was sitting around for a little time. I will definitely go back as it is my favorite restaurant just this one time it was not consistent.

We had a dinner for a group of 9 right after the Flower Show. I never expect much for large group dinners, but our server, Matt, made everything flow and provided excellent service for our evening. We opted for the tasting menu and everything was delicious. We will be back!

This was a positive dining experience all around. The interior of the restaurant is dramatically lit and welcoming. Chic and trendy. The tables are very close together, which means you will be friendly with the people next to you. Very friendly and knowledgeable server. We selected the tasting menu for $45 a person. It was a great choice! We feasted on the soup dumplings, pork bao, wagyu beef satay, crab wonton taco, seared duck breast, Chilean sea bass , & the pork and mushroom lo mein. We had 2 desserts, a mango/vanilla and a chocolate/raspberry soft serve. Very delicious. We also had the featured sushi Dessert.

Trendy oriental food joint with a goofy wooden backed, poorly constructed menu that’s hard to read. The cheesesteak bao was weak. The noodle dishes were pedestrian. The swordfish satay was outstanding.

Awesome food and great service. I loved how the waiters gave you a little rundown of every dish and the best way to enjoy it as it came out. I dined with a girlfriend, and we shared the general tso soup dumplings, crispy rock shrimp, Vietnamese spring rolls, short rib, and Kimchee fried rice. Everything was excellent, although I would skip the rice the next time. That was enough food for the two of us with lots of rice to take home. I will definitely be back next time I’m in town!

We loved this place! The bartender was super and makes great drinks. Our server was terrific, very friendly and efficient. And the food was tremendous. We had the tasting menu since there were so many delicious choices, and it was well worth it! Can't wait to go back!

The BEST!!! Sampans food is out of this world...get the fried rice and definitely the scallops. It’s set up a little different where you share most foods and they come out as they are ready - so don’t expect to order an app then entree for yourself. Drinks are yummy but as expected $$$.
