Great food and services, first time there and we will be back. I had the salmon and it was excellent, and rest of table had red meat and loved everything they had. Good drinks and cheese crips as well!
My Delmonico Steak was cooked to perfection. Best steak I have had in quite a while.
The service was abysmal. They kept blaming a big party that came in but the restaurant was only half full. It took forever for everything - order, drinks, appetizers, dinner - even to get water. The staff was half apologetic but never offered to accommodate us in any way. The food was very good but with that service we would never go back. It was a Saturday night - if you aren't prepared for unexpected crowds then you never will be.
We selected Sam and Harry's as a Valentines treat for us. We live in Schaumburg, so we know all the chains and what they have to offer. We tried this place as something different we don't usually choose. Overall, the hotel and restaurant felt as if we were swept away on a vacation. There was a girls dance competition going on, but just made the atmosphere more lively. The restaurant had patrons but was not overly busy. We were greeted in a friendly manner and seated quickly. Our server was good and knowledgeable of the menu. Pretty much our positive review stops there. The food wasn't bad. In fact, they had an oyster appetizer special that was very good. The rest of the food was above average. Normally, I would recommend. However, with a full bottle of wine and two desserts, we walked out with a tab at $300 with tip. For that, there are far better places to dine in Schaumburg. If you want an app and a drink or two in a nice atmosphere for a date or small group, I would recommend. But a hard pass on dinner just due to price compared to product there keeping in mind other fine dining options in Schaumburg or O'Hare area.
We went on Valentine's Day and both my wife and I were disappointed. First, our waitress was great. No complaints with her. Second, the special dessert they had was a brownie with ice cream and a pastry on top. My wife couldn't stop raving about it - even though the brownie, IMO, was really dense and hard. Third, my wife doesn't like oysters, and the restaurant was kind enough to substitute a shrimp course instead. Unfortunately, those were the only good things in our opinion. We sat so close to the people next to us, I could have reached over and eaten off their plates. They sat us next to the kitchen which is next to the door to the outside deck. Easily the worst table location in the restaurant even though there were many open tables in much better areas (we had reservations, so it wasn't like we were walk ins). The butter and bread was just fair. So many top notch restaurants are elevating their bread and butter, so it's disappointing when you get a butter so ordinary. The lobster bisque was oily. I'm not sure how they made it, but we've had lobster bisque a hundred times before, and this by far the worst tasting. My wife thought her medium rare steak was overcooked and not tasty. I felt mine was cooked properly and was very good. Finally, the atmosphere and ambiance in the restaurant is just OK. Not sure why so many people rate it so high. They did the best they could with it being connected to a hotel / convention center, but it's not 5 star. Overall, while the wait staff was excellent, whomever allowed us to substitute off a non substitution menu was very accommodating, there were way too many negatives and we won't be returning.
Very loud and need more veggie side options or salads. Service was great
Awesome experience. Would go back in a heartbeat
Excellent food and service. Accommodated our guests with food allergies!
Went during restaurant week. Our soups ( lobster, butternut squash) were good. Salad (blackened baby carrots) was so-so. Main entrees were good (steak and pork chop). Dessert was also good. The three courses were good but not unforgettable. Good thing it was restaurant week. I can’t justify paying that much for the soup and salad during regular days.
We went for restaurant week and found the food to be ok, but nothing special.
My husband and I shared a delicious lunch in the quiet, cozy dining room. We were very pleased with the Restaurant Week lunch. The food was presented very well. The skirt steak came with delicious roasted beets and potatoes and sauces. Our waitress was very good. We would recommend this restaurant and plan on coming back again ourselves.
Very disappointed with the experience overall. The service was a disaster ....it took 45 minutes from being seated to get our drinks and it went on from there. The staff looked like a mixed up bunch of hotel guests, none were in any kind of uniform clothing and we kept having different people at our table. The food was tasty, but they just weren’t hitting the high-end billing they are giving themselves with their pricing. For the price, service should be tremendously better, food should all be hot (it was not) and amazing. We will not be returning.
We went on a Saturday during Chicago's Restaurant week. We had to ask for the Restaurant's week menu as they did not offered it, and they only had one. Later on they brought more. We felt like they didn't care about us because we were not ordering from the regular menu. The service was very, very slow. We had to wait a long time between courses. When we asked for a drink menu, we were told they don't have one as they carry a full bar. I like martinis so I would have like to see a drink menu. We have been there several times in the past and always had good service, not sure if we are going back.
It’s a lovely restaurant in a hotel, but unfortunately, the food was just average hotel quality. The salmon was so salty that I couldn’t finish it. It was on a bed of quinoa that didn’t really pair well with the salmon.
Brunch was wonderful. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Good breakfast and meat selections. Good for celebrations or Sunday brunch.
I clicked the open table button that indicated we were celebrating an anniversary. At the end of dinner a beautiful key lime and fruit dessert appeared along with a great card signed by all of the Sam and Harry's team . Wonderful night and meal. Thank you
Absolutely amazing! We made a reservation for a going away party, and the staff made sure that every single request was met!
The staff signed a personalized card because they knew we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday. What an amazing touch!! The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly! Our server was professional and knowledgeable. We’ll be back
My friend and I had a lovely lunch, celebrating our birthdays. Our server, Christina, was the best server I have ever had, anywhere, period!!!!!. She was attentive, and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. She mad our lunch extrra special.
ALL that you asked me to evaluate was Fabulous ... 5 stars for every thing.
I was disappointed. We have been to Sam and Harry's about 10 times and several times on New Years Eve and this is the first time we have been disappointed with our meal.
We arrived on time for our 8 pm reservation and there were 8 groups waiting in line to talk to the hostess to be seated. Both hostesses would leave the podium to look at the tables to see what was a available. It was 20 minutes before we could even check in with the hostess.
Service continues to be slow. We didn't order until 8:45. Our first course didn't arrive until 9 pm. We both ordered the fixed price 6 course meal thinking it would be easier and quicker.
Butternut squash soup and crab cakes were excellent. I didn't like the salad, but that was probably a matter of taste and not the quality of the salad.
My Wife had a filet which was very good. I had the lamb chop which was small and undercooked. It was supposed to be medium and was rare to medium rare.
I didn't like the dessert which was a gelatin in a champagne glass.
I think the problem was that they were not ready for a full house.
We went here because a friend gave a gift certificate that expired in 12/30. We went on 12/30 at 630p. Because of the day before NYE no one was dinning. One other table was eating. And one other came later. So the ambiance wasn’t there. The place was beautiful though. The service was spectacular. Being so empty you’d think they over serve but they showed up only at the perfect times. The food was delicious and well prepared. A little pricey for the portions received. It was a quiet dinner, but we are glad we went.
The atmosphere is amazing, food is delicious. Staff wonderful
Not a very good experience for a Christmas dinner. Not enough servers.
My small family and I certainly appreciated the staff working on Christmas Day to accommodate us so that we could get together for a meal. The food was good, however, we would have liked the opportunity to be able to choose from both the lunch and dinner menus, especially since it was a special occasion holiday and not just a regular lunch during the week. Because we went at 1 o'clock in the afternoon we only were able to select from the lunch menu. Also, adding a cocktail list in addition to the wine list would be helpful. Either way, we had a nice time...thank you!
We were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. Ambiance, service and food was as good as any high end fine dining in chicago. The noise level was perfect for conversation and we felt very comfortable just having a drink after dinner and talking. A really great experience
Best steaks!!!! We could have used more octupus in that octopus appetizer. Our server was outstanding.
Convenient location for breakfast
Wonderful service and excellent food
The entire experience was absolutely phenomenal. Chef Drew came out at least 3 times to our table to check on us and make sure we had absolutely everything. The staff even greeted us with Veuve Croquet at the start of the meal. Experience was one for a lifetime. Now- the food! We cannot say anymore- it was beyond fine dining and every taste was too good to be true. We had our wedding at the venue and celebrating our anniversary here: Chef surprised us with an entire 6” wedding cake just like our wedding day! We were blown away!!!! Thank you to the entire Renaissance staff for making this such an over the top, unforgettable, special, surprise experience for us!!!
It’s a beautiful restaurant! Food was good we enjoyed
One of the few hotel restaurants I don’t mind going to. The hotel looks nice and the location of the restaurants fits well within the overall atmosphere of the location. Everyone enjoyed their selection of entrees and the service was impeccable
The food, service and ambiance were perfect. We’ll be back.
Limited buffet, but it was good.
Service was great, food was just okay and the drinks were very weak. Overall time with our friends was the best part. Unfortunately, we won’t be making this place a regular for us.
Excellent food, excellent services and very stylish interior
Service is not as good as previous visits. Waitress might be new and not as attentive. Felt like a low end restaurant this time.
Highly recommend. Food and service was excellent!
Great anniversary dinner
