I took my husband here on Friday for Valentine’s Day and I was very disappointed. We didn’t even have a real waiter the bar tender assisted us. It took an hour and a half for our food to come and the bar tender was apologetic and he explained that his kitchen is very slow ..which I thought was kinda unprofessional. What made my husband mad was that people that were seated after us got their food before we did and they were actually eating exactly what he ordered which was the chicken parmesan and pasta. When My food finally came which was fish I was very disappointed .
While Salvatore's had excellent lasagna, I was disappointed in the high cost. Additionally, we were placed at a table that was literally in the corner of the back room. I was a little embarrassed because I made the reservation. Plus, I emailed Salvatore's in advance and asked about doing something special because it was my date's birthday. I received no response. I would not recommend.
Phenomenal food, service, and environment. This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food is consistently delicious and freshly prepared!
We had a fabulous dining experience and a wonder meal. I can't wait to go back next time we are in San Diego. delightful!
The food is always fantastic! The bruschetta is the best I've ever had. Their salads are quite creative and delicious. I really love their bolognese and lasagna.
Bar service extremely slow. We waited over a half an hour before drink order came.
Excellent in every regard.
The osobuco was very very good.
We go often but NYE the service was extremely slow. Took almost an hour to get our cocktails. The red balloons were odd for NYE. We'll come back, but the waiter staff needed a little help.
Food, service and wine pairing recommendations were excellent! Nice ambiance. I’d go back for sure!
Really great food and a very romantic ambiance with lovely live soft music
Best kept secret in san diego!
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and for our first time we were stunned. Stunned by the warm greeting, the ambiance, the service and mostly by the food. We did not want to leave after dinner! I would love to give the ten stars.
Wonderful food—terrible service. It’s as if we weren’t even there
Until they get the rabbit back, these are staple delicious choices :D Exceptional service with wonderful delicious food! :D
Beautiful location! Loved the food. Ambience was just perfect. Will surely come back.
It's the service that is truly outstanding. A professional waitstaff that knows each dish on the menu, can discuss ingredients and flavor and in so doing help in the choices made. They watch their tables and check without ever becoming intrusive. Just a warm smile and gracious hospitality.
The food is prepared from 'scratch' and in the world of early prep, heating lamps and reheated dishes, Salvatore's brings fresh, home made dishes to the table. Outstanding.
It is my 'go to restaurant and though I live in the building next to their front door, I would go the distance for dinner at this wonderful Italian restaurant.
Amazing food. Highly recommend the lasagna and ravioli. Harpist was playing on Saturday and completely matched the mood of the restaurant. Highly recommended!
One of the best traditional Italian in the city, highly recommended.
Wonderful ambience and quiet for conversation
Experience for the most part was lovely but our server was given many tables on the other end of the restaurant which left us a bit abandoned. We had to go to the bar to get our check after being left along for about 30 minutes. Our server was lovely but management probably could have made a better call on what tables to make our server work.
Delicious! Veal scallopini and they substituted angel hair pasta for vegetables. Just delicious. Staff was very helpful and friendly. My partners veal was outstanding as well. Highly recommend.
Service was very welcoming and attentive. Food (butternut squash raviolis and veal) was divine! Good recommendation from waiter on food and wine. An excellent evening.
Great place! Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend!!!
This is a fantastic place to eat. Not mentioned in many of the guides but everything about this place is first rate. I have been coming to San Diego for many years and eat here every time. Never had a bad experience. Goob food, great, service and great ambience. No TV and you can even hear yourself takl even when there is live music. This is a place not to be missed
Consistent extraordinary and flavorful culinary creations and impeccable service. You won’t be disappointed here. Parking is a breeze in the attached garage with free validation!
This place is a true gem!! The service was fantastic! Everyone was super friendly and attentive. The setting is absolutely beautiful, tastefully decorated. The piano player adds such a beautiful touch. It has a romantic and intimate vibe. Last but not least, the food was incredible!! From the bread to the desserts-amazing! Don’t miss this place in Little Italy, you’ll want to go back again and again.
Four very satisfied diners. All entrees and sides were outstanding. Shrimp entree and pastas truly great. Chef made excellent casio y pepe even though it is not on the menu. Waiter was first rate — everyone was happy with his recommendations. He was totally unobtrusive and yet his attentiveness was truly first class.
I’ve been looking for a lovely restaurant downtown for dinner before the opera and Salvatore’s was a nice choice. The dining room is pretty and serene. The night we were there a harpist was playing. Gracious service and delicious pasta in two sizes so we could choose to have it as our main course. A bonus was validated parking in a garage just behind the restaurant. I’ll go again.
Great service and live music!
Great service. Beautiful place.
All they have to offer is ambiance.
The food was terrible and bland.
Only good food we had was a slice of cake for dessert.
Great food and service. Looking forward to returning
Everything was great but the food is way too salty.
Romantic, Beautiful, Amazing food, Live music, an amazing date night restaurant!
Very nice and friendly
Service incredibly slow because of too many diners. Don't take other reservations if you have a huge party. Or don't take a huge party if you have several reservations on the books. Dinner took 3 hours. Unacceptable.
The Chicken Parm was fabulous and my wife got the mussels with linguine. We shared a great bottle of wine and our waiter was very helpful.
