imaginative and elevated dishes, great service, wonderful stop for first time in Richmond.
Our Lively, Brilliant uncles came to down. We wanted to show them some of Richmond’s eclectic and intentional cuisine. The specials blew it out of the park, the food was out of the park and served our group well. The noise level was pretty awful when the room was full, hard to hear each other. But by the end of the night, the ambience was perfect.
Sexy pork chop seasoned and cooked beautifully was the standout for me. Other food selections were good and service was attentive and professional.
Saison was recommended by a friend and what a great find it was. We tried several small plates and could not decide which one we liked the most. They were all SO GOOD! Our server was very friendly and helpful. We will most certainly go back to try more dishes.
Delicious food and flavors! Everything was very good, and I appreciated that the menu had allergy friendly dishes including gluten free options, vegan options and even a fancy non-alcoholic mixed drink.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant after reading the review from
Richmond magazine. We went on a Sunday night and first thing was waiting in the doorway not knowing where to go to checkin for our reservation until went searching for someone. Meanwhile, 2 separate servers Looked at us directly and said nothing. Next we were sat at a table that was literally 1 inch from another table of 4. It was very very loud and hard to converse. The food was okay. The fried brussel sprouts were wonderful but the duck confit was not edible. It was bitter and had long strands of some sort of root vegetable that made it difficult to eat. I ordered halibut. The fish was cooked well but was crazy overly salted on the surface. If the price had been thicker it may have been okay but it was just too salty to eat. It was fried chicken night and the chicken was pretty good but the dressing was too heavy and full of chicken as well so it was overkill. The French fries wi the burger were also over seasoned so overall for a $174 bill it was most definitely NOT worth it. Very disappointed.
ALWAYS OUTSTANDING!!! Great service, cocktails, apps, and dinner! Even the burger is heavenly! Always leave happy and full!
Called ahead, got a nice table, however, I was told there were many vegan options, there were two, a small plate and an entré. No one's food arrived at the same time, and our congi was served cold. We sent them back and they returned after everyone else had eaten. The kitchen staff shot us dirty looks the whole time. We just got them to go and left. They did comp one of the congis, but I guess not the other as I had a taste to see if it was hot. I've been to this restaurant three times before and it was good, and I guess there's always a bad night, but it was so bad, I'll never go back.
I love it! The food was great and the host was absolutely amazing!
The food was outstanding and all who were at our dinner party (a bunch of educational professionals from all over the country) were blown away by the food. I can wholeheartedly endorse Saison.
I just didn't think the food was great, and the dollar value was high for what you got.
Great all around. Small plates, cocktails stood out. Small with a cozy vibe and moderate noise level.
A phenomenal experience. The bartenders, servers, chef and cooks, & owners are hands down the best. THANK you to the Saison team for creating an experience that makes every meal feel like a special event.
We had a wonderful visit at Saison for a friend get together! Great place to take friends from out of town. Their Sunday fried chicken meals are the best. Whole chicken, Mac n cheese, sweet potato biscuit (delicious) and a wine that was suggested by our server Megan made for a great time. Also ended it with some desert wines that Megan suggested and paired nicely with our dessert. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Sat at the bar for dinner on a very busy Sunday evening. The female bartender couldn’t have been nicer or more attentive. Both dinner selections were seafood and beautifully prepared. Great ambiance. Would recommend highly.
The food and service was outstanding! We will be back for sure.
Awesome food and drink. Very interesting menus for both!
I’ll be back
First time visiting. It was Valentines so the menu was prix fixe—3 courses at $65 per person. The food was superb from start to finish. The butternut squash app had the perfect char to it. Shrimp esceveche had a great balance of citrus and pickled flavors. Both lamb risotto and rockfish entree were perfectly cooked and plated. For dessert the chocolate torte and yogurt honeycomb did not disappoint. Cocktails were solid was well. I highly recommend the king fisher. Overall price point was pretty high but the quality food being produced out of that kitchen is well worth it.
Loved this place! Meal was great, service was great. Second favorite restaurant in RVA.
Awesome spot! Glad we snagged a reservation, the place was still packed when we left at 11pm!
Great food, small space, love the opportunity to share lots of small plates or go for traditional entrees. Cocktails were perfect and wine list extensive. Wouldn't be great for big groups but good for smaller or dates.
Great drinks and food. Friendly staff and bar. Cool environment and reasonably priced for the quality
Saison was a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious and my steak was cooked perfectly. We will definitely visit again.
Everything we ate was outstanding. Small plates of oxtail sopes, chickpeas. Large plates of halibut and hanger steak. Flavors are delicious. The wine list is interesting and includes wine of reasonable prices. Staff was all very friendly.
Food and service is always amazing! The S’mores on the little fire was inspired :)
The food was amazing and unique! Such a great experience!
Loved all the food we had (we had every small plate on the menu). All went down very well with the whole group. I had hoped to try the chicken hearts but they weren’t available, but wasn’t disappointed with anything.
Three of us went to Saison for dinner and cocktails on a Monday evening. Our reservation was for 7:30 and at that time there were only a handful of other people there. By about 8:15, the place had livened up and they were bustling, especially for a Monday. The cocktails were outstanding, and their small plates exceeded all expectations. I know the menu tends to rotate, but our favorites were the Oxtail Sopes, the Cast Iron Cornbread, and the Fried Brussels were perhaps the best brussels sprouts any of us had ever had. We will certainly be back soon!
Spectacular food, great cocktail menu and draft list. We had the Brussels sprouts, pastrami duck breast and the burger. Everything was great from the second we walked in.
My guest ordered the pork dish which was over 50 percent fat. When he pointed it out to our server, her commit was that it is just the type of pork that is ordered showing no concern what so ever in his disappointment with the dish.
This was our first visit to Saison, but it won't be our last! Our attentive server recommended the wild mushroom appetizer, which was terrific...and plenty big to share. My husband's skirt steak was particularly noteworthy, its flavor enhanced by a spice rub and then seared with a delicious crust. My halibut was likewise delicious, a bit of heat in the Asian seasoning tempered by a coconut broth. I would have liked a bigger wine by the glass selection, and will probably order a cocktail from their enticing menu instead of wine the next time we dine at Saison.
As always, Saison is a very solid choice for dinner, food is good and interesting, service excellent! Good cocktails and interesting wine list.
We went for NYE dinner, and they had a set price menu. 60$ for an appetizer, main course, and desert. The ambiance was relaxed, romantic, and laid back. We had a very nice evening, brought our own bottle of wine, and the corking fee was only 10$...we were expecting it to be at least 20. The pork chop was phenomenal, as was the hanger steak. This place is a must try!
Knowledgeable staff, delicious menu (especially the oxtail), and good culture. Go eat there.
Wonderful place to dine! My only complaint, is, yes, it’s very noisy.
Best food experience I’ve had in Richmond.
creative dishes very well prepared, excellent cocktails
Amazing! Everything was perfect. Highly recommend the burger.
Very high-quality food. Excellent, attentive service.
