It was horrible. When we walked in we had to wait about 15 mins for a host to show up. We had reservations made for 11. It wasn’t even that busy. Then we were given menus and were told there was a buffet. Most of us wanted the breakfast buffet but some wanted to order off the menu. Well the waiter never came back to take our order. So we all ate the buffet. We also had two young kids. We were given crayon packs but no paper for them to color on. Then I asked for drinks for the kids right away and it took over 20 mins to get them. Will never do that again!
We sat for 10 minutes after being seated and weren’t acknowledged once. After trying to fly down a waitress/waiter we ended up leaving due to lack of service. Not a great time.
Seated right away. There were only 2 tables present upon arrival. Service was quite slow despite the lack of other tables present. Server was friendly. Ordered the corn chowder with crab which I was not impressed with. Minimal crab even with the upcharge, very heavy on the onions, felt like I was eating a can of creamed corn versus corn chowder. Main courses were the chicken peach and fig and chèvre flatbread. Chicken was delicious and prepared well. The flatbread was not desirable at all, Dry and bland.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
The worst Open Table restaurant I have been to. The service was slow, the food was very poor with some dishes appearing to be frozen and heated up rather than prepared for us. The ambiance in this Hotel restaurant was zero! Suggest you take this off your site as I’m sure others will be very disappointed.
Family came here for restaurant week and my dad's birthday our server was I think Abby, she was very sweet and did a good job. The ambience was nice for a hotel restaurant. We had a half booth half table and it was very comfy. Great options for dinner! I had a pecan glazed chicken with peaches and asparagus. All of it was Deeeeeelliiicciouuussss. I also had tomato soup which was thick and yummy with a little balsamic. And the ceasar salad was light and well tossed. Not doused. My dad had a yummy mushroom ravioli. For dessert we split the chocolate torte. Tastes like rich fudge. Creme brulee was tasty but I wanted a little more vanilla. I still ate it all. Mmmmm. And the ricotta cheesecake with a very very good crumb cake crust. To die for.
Great service from server and hostess. Very quiet when we went. And fair priced for this kind of restaurant! I worked in one similar. I'll go again for sure :)
Sadly Underwhelming. Despite the pleasant friendly personality of our waiter, service was painfully slow with 20+ minute wait between courses. Food was just fair, at best- none of my 5 companions felt delighted by either the menu or the food itself. Bartender was annoyed by simple requests. Overall, for a Marriott, I was really disappointed.
Impression: Lacked both Southern Hospitality and Quality
Recommendation: Go Elsewhere.
We were visiting from out of town and looking for a nearby restaurant and found Saffire. At the time we didn't know it was a restaurant inside the Marriott hotel. Upon arrival, parking was easy. The restaurant is nicely appointed and quiet and pleasant. Our server, Brian, was pleasant and attentive. Our group ordered a wide range of items and all were really good. Great drink variety at the bar and bar service was quick. Prices were typical for a hotel restaurant; not a bargain but not over the top. Overall a great experience.
The food and service were both fantastic. Definitely a restaurant I'd visit again.
My omelet was good but the so-called breakfast hash my husband had was terrible. Service was quite slow--when we asked about our food, our waitress responded that several meals were ahead of ours, instead of saying I will go check and see if I can expedite, or something equally polite and helpful. So we would not recommend this restaurant. The description should also mention that it is a hotel restaurant.
Food was just ok
Located in the Marriott Charleston, it is so convenient for guests at the hotel. The food was excellent and prices reasonable. My husband had the shrimp and grits, which he had at numerous other restaurants. He said this was the best of any.

I was in town for a race, this restaurant is located in a hotel close to mine, it was getting late, I could walk to it , so I went. The buffet was obviously geared towards the runners in town with pasta. Zero proteins. I didn't realize that until after we ordered. Nothing of note or impressive. Service was lacking, my water was never refilled, I had to take my boyfriends as our waiter never fulfilled my request to fill up my empty glass when he came by. The hotel and roof top bar are amazing but this is a one and done visit for me. It's worth the $7 Uber ride to downtown if you are staying in the hotel attached to this place.
Our server Russel was very nice, professional, and helpful. The food was higher-end quality hotel restaurant food. No complaints. Sandwiches were good, and the flat bread pizzas were outstanding.
Came here when visiting Charleston, South Carolina on Christmas day. They had a prefix dinner menu which was a bit too much food. They had a smaller bar menu that they allowed us to order from which was great. Our waitress/bartender was super nice.
Being in the area on a vacation, the idea of reservations was great and we were received with friendliness and treated great. The food was awesome and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
My family and I ate here for Mother's Day, we had a group of 5 adults, 2 children and a baby. We were charged an automatic 20% gratuity, which okay we could live with that. However, we were also charged a 20% "service fee" on top of that! My son's salad was forgotten during the meal, as well as my daughter's drink. I am no cheapskate and I always tip well for good service, but they definitely did not earn that much gratuity along with a service fee.
Food was decent, nothing spectacular, and service was lacking.
Very very attentive service and a stop by the manager. For 4 of us, the flatbread was a hit, perfectly cooked pork tenderloin and great gnocchi. The portions were good size and we all left full. The misses in our minds were the bruschetta and the potato skins. Bruschetta with Tapenade, Reggiano was ok and the potato of potato skins was still frozen in the middle.
As a Charleston local, this restaurant was very disappointing. All of the food was just okay. Nothing special or memorable. I had blackened shrimp on my salad and my mouth was on fire. There are so many amazing restaurants in Charleston. This is not one of them.
My friends and I stopped here for a quick dinner prior to beginning my bachelorette festivities. The food was absolutely fabulous, but the service was a little slow. We arrived about an hour before closing, so there was only one employee there who served as host and waiter (there were other parties that arrived right before ours, and t here were more arriving while we ate and after we finished eating). He was as pleasant as he could be given the circumstances. We felt pretty bad for the guy. Overall, I'd visit this place again, I'd just be sure to arrive way before closing.
The food was good but overpriced. Service was less then average, wait staff more concerned about the bigger tables (louder tables). Will not be going back.
Thanksgiving dinner is one of my favorites of the year. For the last few years my family has vacationed Thanksgiving Week and had to rely on restaurants for the holiday meal.
This year we returned to Charleston and I found Saffire on line as a restaurant that offered a Thanksgiving Buffet. The previous trip to Charleston we dined at Blu Restaurant in Folly Beach on Thanksgiving and enjoyed it very much. This year we wanted something in Charleston Proper.
What do most people expect at a Thanksgiving Buffet? Fresh turkey with plenty of moist white and dark meat? Sapphire had only what appeared to be pressed turkey breast-and it was dry and without flavor. I love thigh meat-dark was not to be found. How about sweet potatoes? Nope. The buffet consisted of a decent soup, ham and white meat turkey, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and salad items. Desert was all but gone at our 6:30PM seating.
The server could care less-never asked about our meal; never offered refills on our non-alcoholic drinks. He repeatedly walked over and around a fork lying on the floor near our table.
Charleston is one of the greatest food cities in the USA. One would think that a "fine restaurant" at a Marriott Hotel in this city would at the very least make an effort.
A better turkey meal would have been found at a Denny's. This was the worst Thanksgiving meal I have ever eaten---worse than the year I cooked by Turkey on "broil" instead of "bake" my accident.
I dined there for dinner only. I ate relatively early, so there was not a crowd then. The service was prompt and efficient. Appetizer and entree were not only delicious but laid out on the plates with an artistic flair that was quite pleasing. I would certainly return the next time I am in the area.

We dined during the historic storm in Charleston. Despite the storm the restaurant served up a limited menu of good food. I recommend the flatbread for lunch.
I would return in fair weather.

Went there for lunch with three others because we were at a convention at the Marriott. Two had salads and two had oyster loaves with one she crab soup and one order of fried green tomatoes. Everyone was pleased with their choices.
We ate at Saffire because we were staying in the Marriott the night before the charleston Marathon. Only one of our group of three enjoyed his meal (the catch of the day) although he said his cocktail was poorly made. We ordered an appetizer that was brought out with the salads. The waiter forgot bread that went with one meal and we had to ask for a side salad. The wrong order was brought out for one person and it did not appear that dressing was put on one of the salads. We attempted to order creme brûlée for dessert but we're told that they were out of it (Our reservation was at 6 and we ordered dessert at the beginning of the meal.)
Saffire left much to be desired. The Marriott is beautiful, the outdoor seating area looked exciting and South Beach-esque, and it would have a nice view if it were near the water a little more. The food was decent but not all that great. However the overall experience was good and I would go back again for drinks and light appetizers. I would really like to sit on their patio next time.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner buffet. Food was very good and service was great. One member in our party is a vegetarian and ordered off main menu instead. Except for the price ($28 per adult) the exepience was great!!!!
and let the wait staff know immediately if it is not hot ... all our soups (6 people, corn chowder and tomato soup) were lukewarm but we did not want to take the time to send them back ...

Who would think of going to a chain hotel for a lovely, quiet dining experience? Shhhh ... sharing this secret with you only ... Saffire has very good food, reasonably priced, excellent service, and ambience that permits adult conversation to be conducted at at "living-room" level ... Thank you, Marriott and Saffire!
I've been here a few times because the food and staff are excellent, with the exception of the host working Saturday, January 18. I made a reservation and showed up only to have him tell me they couldn't honor it. What?! He didn't even try to help. At all. He said he was waiting on a table of 20 to arrive, who were 30 minutes late mind you. No big deal for them, though, since a party of 6 would not pull in as much money as that of a party of 20. Either way, we had to be mean enough for him to finally give in.
Food was Ok but nothing really memorable. Good selection of drinks and beer. Rest week menu was average; we also ordered a flatbread which was OK. Not sure we'd return as there are much better restaurants around. Bar was pretty noisy when we got there but as people left it got better.
Stayed in the hotel for dinner. Compared to other Charleston opportunities I would not stay in again.
The rooftop bar is very nice with friendly staff who are attentive. The restaurant was good and food is not expensive. The one aspect that put a negative tone on everything was the price of drinks. I had two Glenlivet on the rocks and was shocked when the bill came and the charge PER drink was $15.00. Living downtown we have dined in most of the restaurants there and this is the highest I have paid for this drink. They need to be more reasonable in their price points
