Been here multiple times. I did not look at the menu on line before going and was a bit disappointed at how minimal the options were. I understand the need due to staffing issues, and I should have reviewed it prior to going. They are not seating in the main dining room, only on the deck area with large plastic flaps to protect from the wind. This area was nice and overlooks the ocean, which is honestly what you pay for here. The food was good but not “fabulous”, especially for the price. The service was excellent. I will choose to not go back until they are back at a full menu.
Beautiful view but food very average.
The view was, as expected, beautiful. Our entrees however, was underwhelming, average at best. The cheese platter was quiet good. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. We didn't feel it was a good value for the money.
Noisy venue because of wedding party next door but beautiful view and delicious entrees. Service was excellent.
We went to see the sunset but it was overcast but still we could see the beauty of the water. The menu was limited but very good. Highly recommend the pasta primavera! Overall we enjoyed it very much!

Drinks on the lawn, and a table overlooking the Bay on a perfect afternoon.. Best lobster Roll and fries, served by Lauren our charming waitress...

We were in Newport on vacation and wanted dinner with a view. Boy did we get what we asked for. Amazing view of the sunset accompanies by yummy food.

Drinks were all mixer!. Salmon was not good on salad. Felt like I was eating the wedding party’s leftover food. Shocking an embarrassed as it has been good in the past. Not a good way to introduce Newport to friends.

I've been coming to Ocean Cliff for years and last night was there to celebrate my birthday. You guys have always been so great, but I do want to leave some (hopefully constructive) feedback in the hopes that it will help you stay on top of your game.
We were greeting warmly by the bartender and host, even as the host politely wrestled with an older couple who was desperate for an oceanfront table. We sat among several families, which seemed normal for 6:30pm on a weekday. It took a long time, but eventually someone stopped by and took our drink order. I got the sense that it had already been a tough night for the staff, and maybe at the end of a tough season too. Our waitress came by some time later to ask if we wanted any food...her delivery was so odd that I quipped how busy they seemed for a weeknight, which seemed to break the ice. I was happy to smile and listen about an issue with the credit card machines (and I mean that seriously...you guys always have the sweetest staff and I was happy to make a connection). Anna and I ordered the shrimp scampi, and I got to joke about the $38 price tag...no issues there, you guys get to charge whatever you like for that view :)
Our waitress missed her chance at a big bill by not asking if we wanted a second round of drinks or dessert. We eventually caught her on a flyby and asked if there was any cappuccino. We wanted to ask about another drink and mousse for dessert as well but she kept on flying and returned a few minutes later with what tasted like a vanilla steamer in a cappuccino cup. We smiled, figured it was a sign from the universe and took our check after that.
No bitterness here, we understand the service industry's challenges and we'll be back regardless...but as a manger myself I thought sharing our experiences might give the team there a chance to make a few tweaks and keep other patrons happy.
Felt badly because staff seemed extremely busy. There was also a wedding in the room next to patio. I think staff was working both. We were seated at 6:15 and dinner arrived at 7:55pm- lest one meal, that arrived 10 min later without a knife to cut meat. Sodas tasted like water , cocktails were made incorrectly. It wasn’t worth time or effort to send back a second time…the view is beautiful though, I think that’s how they get away with the terrible service??
Great! Only suggestion is that they expand their menu!
View is amazing. Place needs some updating. Food was mediocre. Service dropped the ball. We ordered dessert and waited 20 minutes for it to be delivered. Finally waitress appeared and we asked about it. She checked and said they were out of what we ordered.
Got check and left disappointed.
Food was overpriced and there was not a good selection. Server did not know the menu items. They cared more about wedding.that was taking place.

VERY DISAPPOINTED this time. I understand they are short on staffs, but the menu??? or lack there’s of, was very disappointing. They went from 4 stars dining experience to no stars in very very short of time. We’re just glad that our special guest that was supposed to join us for dinner couldn’t make it, it’s would’ve been such a let down to him and an embarrassment to us after how we’ve raves of how great it was in the past.
As a regular return customers, we’re not sure if we wants to even consider come back never mind recommending Safari room to anymore of our friends like we normally did in the past.
Having a million dollar view with a pricey cheap ghetto pub appetizer as a dinner menu is not gonna cut it. Needless to say, there’s nothing worth ordering. So we left and went to have dinner somewhere else instead. We end out with better foods at the Brick Alleys and a few hundred dollars less then we’d have normally spent at the Safari room.
Wonderful service and good food. Menu was a little sparse. The chef might want to think about adding a few items.

Most romantic, best views, most delicious food, kindest and most accommodating staff, etc etc. we cannot get enough of the Jungle Room or the property it sits on. Do not skip the cheese board.
This was anniversary. We did not receive a call as to the menu changes. The food was flavorless and stale like. We are foodies and have been in the food/ industry for years. The bill was around $300 Had I known this I would have disputed this before we lest (my husband paid the bill). We , unfortunately will not return. At the very least we should have received the phone call that your staff said should have been made , so we could have made a decision from there. The waitress was lovely and unfortunately had to try to smooth things over with patrons for poor management. Unfortunately we will not return.

Beautiful setting--sunset, water, boats, bridge. Very limited menu and not very well prepared food. Good too sure on the Adirondack chairs on there lawn and eat elsewhere

Safari room has lost a step or two. The menu is virtually non existent. Only 5 main items to choose from. The restaurant chose to completely shut down during the fall of 2020 to spring 2021. I'm sure they lost all of their cooking staff, waiters and waitresses in the process. Short term probably saved them money but long term it's going to come back to bite them. Food quality is an abomination from its former self. Ordered the lobster roll and the chicken milanese. Lobster roll didn't have any real flavor and the fries were this battered type and you can get a hint that the oil was a little past its prime. The chicken was just okay. Everyone comes here for the view and thankfully that's not something that can be messed up.
Menu was limited out on the patio. Cocktails were tasty and decent selection of wines. We ordered the cheese board which was good. Clam chowder was ok. Don’t order the add-on for chicken on the salad. Way too dry.
we have been here many times, this was the first visit for 2021. Go for the view as it is great, it rained the day we went so no boat out on the harbor but the place felt alive and looked great. The menu was different than 2020 summer, we like the 2020 menu better. The food was good but not much to pick from.
The staff was very accommodating as I made 2 changes to the reservation after I first made it. Food was excellent for a fair price. Love the setting. We'll be back.

This is the third time we have eaten here and each time it seems to get even better. The view is just tremendous but when you get your food , the best is yet to come.
This Restaurant deserves an entire evening of your time. Come early for drinks and the view and then enjoy the best meal you have ever had .

Our waitress, Lauren, friendly, helpful and a great sense of humor! Food (bologna, veggie sandwich. Shrimp Mozambique and lobster salad roll deemed wonderful by all. The view is the icing on the cake! Highly recommend!
Service unfortunately wasn’t great. Waitress dropped our check and said “you’re all set”, no “thank you”, “happy birthday”, or “have a great day”. I’m a server as well so these small things go a long way. When she dropped the food at the table, she didn’t ask us if we needed anything, she just left and never came back, and we needed side plates and a drink refill. I won’t say her name because I don’t want to blow up her spot, but I was a bit disappointed! Otherwise, the other staff were helpful and polite. Food was AWESOME. Location was perfect. We will be back!
