Our friends Angela and Sonny couldn’t say enough about this place, so when our daughter just moved to Chicago and we were just there for a visit, we had to go! We sat out in the courtyard and the service was exceptional… Everything from people filling our water glasses to our server, Alex. Can’t say enough about the food and how spectacular it was. We then proceeded to go inside to the bar where there was a great piano player and we had a nightcap. And you know the recommendation from friends is great when they suddenly surprise you and show up at the last minute for a late night bite after work, and the staff didn’t miss a beat! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!!!
I loved it, the food was outstanding and the environment was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
A true Italian treasure from another era with great food, attentive service in a quiet setting.
Hurray for white table clothes, a maitre d' who greeted us in a tux and a fabulous menu with traditional Italian favorites as well as some imaginative specials. Within moments a plate of hot pizza bread was at our table, a drink order taken and specials explained. My husband is still swooning over the veal saltimbocco which he orders everytime everywhere so he has become a seasoned critic. Minestrone soup was average but all else superb. Another table was celebrating a birthday and the musical trio wandered over to our table and played a request without being pushy or overbearing. Nice experience and we can't wait to return.
Amazing dining experience with great food, excellent service, and wonderful ambiance. We will definitely be back!
Excellent Italian food that comes with soup and salad. Pizza bread is served as an appetizer along with delicious, crusty warm bread. The service is exceptional and the strolling violinist adds ambiance.
Excellent gem in city! Great food, service. Michael our waiter was great!
Great “old school” Italian restaurant. The perfect place for dinner if you’re on a date
EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!! Our waiter was outstanding. The food was delicious. The prices were amazing. I loved the old school atmosphere. All the staff was so welcoming! The old school desserts ... I can't say enough good things.
Sabatino's is a gem of Chicago. If you want to get that classic Italian dining experience straight from the 50s or 60s, Sabatino's is it. Such a wonderful place and a national treasure. Order anything on the menu, it will be great. But more importantly, the ambiance is classic Chicago. Not too fancy, not too fussy, but friendly and warm and everyone is welcome.
It took us almost 2 hours to get our food, after it taking almost 35 minutes just to order!
We got together at Sabatino's with out of town friends. The food was great; the service was excellent.
OUTSTANDING FOOD & SERVICE! Great "OLD SCHOOL ITALIAN" restaurant, one of Chicago's best!!
Sabatino's is a great neighborhood restaurant. Great service and wonderful old school Italian food. Such a fun restaurant.
As always very good. Only 1 suggestion would be good if they can figure out how to do separate checks.
Service and food are excellent. Our waitress was very nice and enjoyed the fact that we were celebrating our many years of playing bridge together.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Outstanding Italian food at reasonable prices.
They just know what they're doing in all phases of their operation. Comfortable and delicious. You don't want to leave!
Not many Old School places like this any more. We love going here!!
Terrific service. Quality ingredients. Wide variety menu. Delicious. Recommend for romance.
Mentioned birthday when I made the reservation but no sparkling desert like others... musicians did sing happy birthday!
Hope got credit for my reservation here.
Wedding anniversary for me and my wife. Food was solid but the service was fair. I pretty much only seen the waiter while delivering food. The best part of the night was the music (violinist and accordionist playing)
Been going here since I was a kid with my father and family, the food and the interior is like walking into another time when restaurants were welcoming and family run! LOve this place and hope it sticks around for another 40 years!
I like flaming deserts and they have 3 cherries jubilee, banana foster and peach flambé .
All delicious all fun all gone
Food was good. Could do without the music. I can appreciate employing aging musicians, but they were terrible.
This place was wonderful! Im surprised it took us this long to venture over there. Will be back soon!
Enjoyed a weeknight dinner with friends. We're glad our friend suggested it because we were trying to find a place in between near north Chicago and the north suburbs. The place was decorated in dark Italian pieces with a baby grand piano next to the bar. There were also musicians such as an accordion and violinist who stopped by tables to play songs. We were pleased with the menu choices. Meals were priced fairly especially entrees included salad, soup AND potato or pasta. There was also food leftover for us to take home. We also liked the pizza bread starters which they offered free along with the Italian loaf bread. All in all, the restaurant served comfort Italian food that was plentiful and flavorful.
I had high expectations since this restaurant uses OpenTable and I have always had good experiences dining at restaurants using your service. However, it was not to be the case this time. The service was horrible although the waitress was nice enough. It took 20 minutes to get waited on! It took 40 MINUTES to get a bottle of wine!! The food came before the wine, one entree was lukewarm and another's sauce was too salty to even enjoy. To add to the menagerie of miseries, the waitress messed up one of the charges for the credit card. I'm not sure how this
restaurant has so many good reviews, but I will NEVER go back again. Perhaps some staff from OpenTable can visit and see how they fare.
Excellent food and service. It have been quite some time since I had been there due to a job change and I really enjoyed it. Old Chicago style restaurant
Love this place. ❤️
Loved the food and the ambiance!!!
The service was a little slow, but otherwise very friendly waiters and a good experience. :)
THE EVENING WAS FABULOUS FOR MY HUSBAND AND HIS BEST FRIENDS BIRTHDAY DINNER. WE HAD OYSTER ROCKEFELLER, CALAMARI AND BRUSCHETTA FOR APPETIZERS. WE HAD SOUP AND SALAD WITH OUR DINNER. THE ZUPPA DE MARE WITH ALL THE SEAFOOD WITH AWESOME. AND ALSO THE RICHES SPECIAL YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG. THE BAKE ALASKA WAS SO REFRESHING FOR DESSERT. GREAT TIME!!!
First time at Sabatino's, but it won't be the last. My husband and I had a fantastic meal. I also thought the price was excellent, considering the entrees include soup, salad, bread and pizza bread. You won't got away hungry!!! Worth the trip. Consider this restaurant, when you want some authentic Italian food. You won't be disappointed.
5 Star service with AMAZING authentic Italian food!
There was a hair in our Oysters Rockefeller, but they promptly brought out a full additional order at no charge. I filled up on bread too much before my meal so I missed out on the bananas foster, but I saw another table enjoying theirs and I only wished my stomach had another compartment. The portions were very good and the place was quite busy, which added to the energy.
The piano man was outstanding, and we sang a few songs with the crowd. It trailed off a bit just before midnight, but everyone was friendly tastefully ill-mannered (alcohol will do that to you). I recommend this restaurant!
Has long been a restaurant of consistent quality both in food and service.
Classic good eats!
We have been to Sabatino's many times and are NEVER disappointed!
i love old school places and good solid comfort food. You cannot do better than this place. i would eat here all the time if i could.
