Nestled in the canyons of Bel Air, SHU is a dining experience like no other - a fusion of Japanese, Italian and Latin flavors and influences. The menu features traditional dishes as well as signature offerings, inspired by Giacomino Drago’s love of blending Japanese, Italian and Latin cuisines. SHU’s environment is well-suited to singles, couples and families. The bar seats up to ten people and there is a special booth that seats six people. Private dinning room is available to accommodate up to 12 guests. Signature dishes included halibut carpaccio with sun-dried tomato, Kobe Beef sashimi and albacore sashimi with shaved truffles.

Blue Plate Oysterette was inspired by East Hampton summer lobster bakes and mouthwatering lunches at Montauk’s favorite roadside eateries. With influences like Pearl Oyster Bar and Mary’s Fish Camp in New York, Oysterette serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu straight out of the seafood shacks you find on the East Coast. Chunky, overflowing lobster rolls, buckets of steamed clams in broth so flavorful that bread demands to be dunked, clam chowder, mussels in broth, ceviche, and raw shellfish so fresh you can smell the ocean. Manchego is a Spanish Tapas restaurant in Santa Monica that focuses on delicious small plates and a cozy atmosphere. We recently relocated a few doors down, to a larger space with a romantic patio in the back.

Manchego has always been one of the best kept secrets in Santa Monica, and now locals can enjoy our bigger, more accommodating space that offers outside dining on our beautiful patio. Always a great spot for romantic dates or meeting up with friends and family.

We also added a specially curated Spanish wine list that offers mainly small-production, unique wines. Our Spanish wine distributor spends his time traveling the Spanish countryside, sourcing hard to find wines from small, mom-and-pop wineries. The wine list also includes a few South American selections and a great local, organic wine.

We love this little place. But this weekend we arrived early to have a drink at the bar before our dining reservation. A table was available immediately. However I felt we got hounded to order every couple of minutes which chilled our pre-dinner cocktail plan. Theres a fine line between conscientious service and annoying especially when our cocktail plan was not intended to interfere with their dinner reservations. It wont stop us from enjoying this place. It was a minor annoyance.

We were greeted by a very lovely hostess. She knew we were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday (I'm visiting her from out of town), and she said she had a great table for us (which it was). Our waiter was the opposite. He did give great suggestions of things to order (not from his own inquiry of questions we had about the menu, but our questions because we had never been there before). He walked passed our table many times, not stopping to check in or fill our glasses from the bottle of wine we ordered. He didn't bring one dish we ordered, and had to remind him to remove it from our bill. He never asked if there was anything else we wanted (dessert for the birthday). We saw him being attentive to other customers, and he actually came over to spend time telling us about taking time to talk to another customer's daughter on the phone to take her "to go" order. Why is that important to us when we're there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Bottom line, the food was delicious and the hostess was very sweet. If we go again, maybe we'll get a waiter interested in our experience.
