The name of the restaurant is inspired by the Legend of Janare of Benevento. Strega means ‘witch’ in Italian and Benevento is considered the “city of witches”.

With a profound appreciation and understanding of Italy’s rich history and culinary heritage, we prioritize using imported Italian products and are committed to maintaining authenticity in our recipes and menu selections.
At Strega, we believe that cooking with seasonal, authentic ingredients means there is not need for unnecessary embellishment - our food tastes great, is fresh, and at its peak. The best meal we’ve had in our 2 years in New Haven. The flat iron steak and branzino were beautifully presented and delicious. Roseanna is a gracious and attentive host as was Brianna! What a gem.

Chef d'Amuri, an Italian native, also works his magic grilling whole fish and juicy steaks and offers a variety of meat and fish dishes daily. Located in a refurbished historical home the restaurant offers a unique space their guests. Family owned and operated with an eye for detail L'Orcio has a lot to offer. The legendary history of Diorio Restaurant began in the 1920s. The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor. The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories.

We have the original marble bar, over-sized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling, and the most impressive acid-etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury. Diorio Restaurant has once again reclaimed its reputation as Waterbury's finest.

A lovely afternoon at Siena catching up with my mother. The service was and food were perfection. We enjoyed the marinated olives/roasted almonds and the affettati misti with our cocktails followed by 3 small plates to share (gambero oreganata, crispy brussel sprouts and steamed manila clams…all amazing) and finished with table side tiramisu and vin santo. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
