About the restaurant
The Bear of North Moreton is a welcoming village pub in North Moreton, South Oxfordshire that dates back to the 16th century and has always been the heart of the village. We offer a humble menu of traditional home-cooked pub dishes, using the best local producers and seasonal ingredients. We serve a range of ales, beer, and cider and have a small and curated wine list.

There’s a large beer garden that backs onto the village cricket pitch, and we hope to open up the Aunt Sally pitch soon.

We have eaten at the Ivy in London many times and always with happy results. I was reluctant to make the same choice in Oxford, simply because I associate the dining experience with London. I am so happy we made the choice to try the Ivy here. We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was like a tonic. The service was everything one could wish. Our waiter, Patrick, was thoroughly knowledgable about the menu, patient as we dithered over our choices, tolerant of our middle-aged humor, and on the mark with his recommendations. He also managed to do this as the restaurant became increasingly full and thanks to a group of jolly diners next to us - a bit raucous. Bravo, Patrick (and The Ivy), thank you for making our dinner so pleasant.

The Fishes is a hidden gem. Quite a big gem, too. An imposing Victorian building set in acres of wooded grounds leading down to the banks of Seacourt Stream. The deck that wraps around the conservatory offers a rare opportunity in land-locked Oxford to dine outside with an idyllic view. In recognition of this, the Fishes was named Al Fresco Dining Pub of the Year in 2006, as well winner of The Public Vote in Oxfordshire Restaurant awards 2012 making it one of the best restaurants in Oxford.

Visited the new Piccolini in Henley, excellent tuna (perfectly cooked) and fegato alla veneziana with mash (too much fried onion). Good service and pleasant, modern ambiance. Other Italian restaurant in Henley might need to up their game!
