We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

I am usually Susie t of restaurants attached to hotels. This one,however, was really good. Definitely with it! Food, cocktails and service great.

La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.

We very STRONGLY recommend sticking with either a veal dish or the pasta/risotto. Both are excellent and the pasta is always cooked correctly. Try to avoid the temptation of being seated in the "romantic," side-by-side booths. We were celebrating our 45th anniversary and found this seating very uncomfortable. The after dinner drink (sparkling wine) was offered for our celebration; it reminded us of a stale Andre. We didn't drink it. Finally, the staff was great and attentive, except for our server who always seemed rushed. We noticed other, older staff (Italian?) were very attentive to their guests; not ours. Strongly recommend asking for seating in an area where the older, more experience servers are. We will be returning, for sure, as we have always enjoyed the food.

We were celebrating a birthday and were seated promptly. Table was decorated with birthday menus and confetti. Meals were delicious and dessert was scrumptious.

Great location. Have been to the other one in Alpharetta, but this one is in a very different type of location with outside seating, live music and a very busy and energetic climate. Went here for a birthday dinner with friends. Food came out quick and was very hot and tasty. The lamb meat balls and angus beef sliders were awesome. Also had the grilled salmon, but watch out for the butter sauce, very good, but if you have a somewhat sensitive stomach, it may irritate. Bathrooms were well kept. Our server was attentive and very hospitable and funny. Great location for a night out or celebration. This place was packed at 6:30 pm on a Friday night.
