Open since October of 1990, The Dakota has been a pioneer in the culinary industry on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Their cuisine is influenced by the flavorful Creole cuisine, with Contemporary Louisiana. Other influences include the Southwest, California, and Asia using fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
The carefully selected wines pay tribute to the well crafted wines of North America while offering many of the traditional Old World styles of Europe.
In October of 2023, The Dakota moved to its new location in Historic Downtown Covington...just a block from the iconic Southern Hotel.
The Dakota continues to set the mark for what people look for when they dine – well crafted food, detail-oriented service, plush surroundings, and genuine hospitality.

First time to your new location. Jessica provided terrific service, very knowledgeable and professional. Starter and salads very good and well presented, however too much Orzo ion the Halibut. We will return.

Both restaurants are consistently outstanding and locals' favorite place to "see and be seen." Desi grew up in the restaurant business and was groomed by Ella Brennan at Commander's Palace, Ruth Fertel of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Emeril Lagasse. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence makes for a truly memorable dining experience. Love this classic restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. Arnaud’s Salad, Oysters Bienville, Speckled Trout Meunière, fine white wine, fresh Bread and butter, and strawberries with wine sauce and ice cream. Superb!

As always, a top-notch consistent experience! From the Ragged Branch Double-Oaked Wheated Bourbon cocktails, Italian Meatball, Who Dat Shrimp, Caesar Salad, Freddie Mac’n Cheese and Ribeye to desert. Tony and Will and the rest of the staff bring the experience!

“Top Steakhouses in America” Maxim Magazine and Playboy, and featured in the Wall Street Journal, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse serves straightforward prime steaks with a New Orleans touch. Signature dishes and sides include: The House Filet (served with masa flash-fried Louisiana oysters), Tomato Blue Cheese Napoleon, Pontalba Potatoes, and a Roasted Sweet Potato with Creole Pecan Butter. The house favorite dessert is a toss up between the Coconut Cake with a chiffon buttercream and the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding—so go ahead and order both.

The first impression of the restaurant was of an upscale steakhouse. Welcoming staff, and prompt help with reservations. However, we struggled with our waiter, he kept forgetting checking with our table. It was frustrating and ruined the whole experience. The food was ok, but doesn’t match the first impression of the restaurant. We had 6 people in our group.

Jacmel Inn began service in June 1977 after six months renovation to the former residence that was built in 1888. This historic 2-story property sits on 2.2 acres and 9 blocks for the center of historic downtown Hammond.

The lush landscaping, new patio, and the ample parking help make Jacmel Inn a culinary oasis worthy of a 60 miles drive from New Orleans.

The time has come to pass the tiller to another generation, with Rick and Paul selling the business and property to Alfonso Flores, The current manager of 5 years. He was hired as a server and worked his way up to General Manager. Anxious and ready to be an entrepreneur and continue providing a peaceful, sophisticated dining option for Hammond and the greater NorthShore.

Our executive Chef Brandon Martinez creates our menu, which evolves seasonally. While always using fresh Louisiana Seafood, Prime steaks, Lamb, Pastas and Great Desserts, cooking techniques and dishes derived from traditional Louisiana culture.

First night of new menu and manu good choices!! Deck breast served very rare, halibut was very good, bouillabaisse was delicious but not hot when served and same for mushroom risotto. For dessert cheesecake was delicious as was cookies and “milk”. Owner, Alfonso, was very present, helping serve at times and visited our table for feedback which is a plus in my book. Looking forward to a return dinner soon.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday We had veal parmigiana and crab dish Drinks were great . We had two servers I think there names were Ty and Tia best servers ever . So friendly on top of there game . Do recommend
