Gretna
About the restaurant
The Red Maple was originally owned and operated by the Trauth Family, a German-American family of restaurateurs spanning 100 years in Gretna. And what began in 1963 continues to this day, holding to its German roots through its rustic Alpine lodge decor, extensive beer selection and annual Oktoberfest celebration. In fact, it was a red maple tree in the side yard that inspired the name of the bar – The Red Maple – with the restaurant being added in 1965.

Now for over 50 years, The Red Maple has been the rendezvous spot for West Bank movers and shakers known for its Prime cut steaks, New Orleans favorites and fresh Louisiana seafood.

Today, under the passionate guidance of Proprietor Brent Trauth and his sister, Carroll Gales, The Red Maple continues to deliver on its reputation for delicious food, exceptional service and rich Louisiana history. A rich and storied past that is only upstaged by the dining experience itself.

A once in a lifetime experience… is precisely what we strive to deliver to our guests at Rizzuto’s Prime.  Savor ‘La Dolce Vita,’ or the sweet life, through the eyes of Grandmother Lena and her old-world recipes.  Indulge your senses, and allow them to guide you through an intimate tour of Caporeale, the Sicilian village where the Rizzuto family originated, and where our age-old culinary tradition began. Let the aroma of fresh herbs invoke your sense of smell, the tannins of the wine invigorate your taste-buds, and prepare for an exquisite encounter!  Our dreams are big, but the mission is simple – ensure that each guest leaves as family.   The authenticity is what distinguishes us from the rest, the execution is what elevates our brand, but the passion is why we are driven to share this love of cuisine and culture, and why we warmly offer you a seat at our table!

Legacy Kitchen’s Craft Tavern was very slow when we ate there. So the service was excellent, the food was good, and the atmosphere was great as we had the place to ourselves.

We selected this location for a special Mother's Day Brunch - and we weren't disappointed! Service was stellar & they treated all the moms at the table like royalty. Free champagne for all the moms, excellent omelet station & even the babies (22 mos & 9 mos) enjoyed the food. And side bar - NOPSI is a gorgeous hotel! Definitely planning a return visit!
