Originated from the famed Uchi restaurant in Austin, founded by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole, Uchiko specializes in robust flavors infused with smoke and hints of char balanced with the fresh and clean profile that is the hallmark of its sister concept Uchi. Reservations are encouraged and can be booked online up to 1 month in advance. Walk-in bar seating is available and is subject to wait times. Patio seating is weather permitting and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had at any Uchi/Uchiko locations! Kinsey was very attentive and had wonderful recommendations for us and practically read my mind when it came to drinks and dessert. The coursing was on point and we definitely did not leave hungry. I appreciate so much the hospitality from Kinsey as well as other staff members! Sad to see the foie gras go but glad I got to enjoy the last few bites. Will still come back and hope to have Kinsey as my server! :)

About the restaurant

Chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee have over 25 years of combined experience in Japanese cuisine and sushi. They established their culinary careers in Houston where they worked together for years before creating their own restaurants.

Pham and Lee teamed up to bring new curated dining concepts to Houston’s food scene and kicked off a series of omakase pop-up dinners called Secret Taste. Pham and Lee then opened Kokoro in the Bravery Chef Hall in Downtown Houston followed by Handies Douzo in the Houston Heights.

Aiko is the newest concept from the team featuring a sushi bar and seated dining.

Was happy with food, presentation, service and special mochi ice cream for birthday dessert! Went for HRW. Fish very fresh and various tastes. Presentation nice. Could have been quieter--background music too loud and asked to turn it down. Didn't notice a difference. Our waiter was very attentive and responsive. Would have like a soup selection option.
