Took some time for food to come out. When it did, it was delicious. When I realized it was inside of a hotel, was a little disappointed.
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly & professional staff. Mac n cheese was amazing, as well as the scallops! The ribs were so great, the meat fell right off the bone. Would come here again in a heartbeat. One of the best meals in Raleigh!
Was having dinner with a friend. Server Beth was attentive and helpful. Great menu and food was delicious.
The restaurant was almost empty and our waitress couldn't be bothered with us. This was at 6:30 and the other staff proceeded to break down tables and stack dishes and glasses on the next table during the entire meal, knocking down chairs and slamming plates like it was 10:30 pm and they were closing. Food was ok and overpriced.
I was very disappointed at this restaurant. I’ve been before and it was good this trip it was average. About 1/3 of the menus wasn’t available. The service was fine but not great. Really don’t think I’ll go back.
Out of basics. Made substitutions without asking. Brunswick Stew was soup.
The restaurant is in the Marriott downtown, and is quite open to the rest of the lobby. There was apparently a convention in town, and a (I gathered) larger than normal number of restaurant patrons. The staff handled the surge well, but there was an initial few minutes of confusion that led to us being marked as no-shows in opentable. All resolved, though.
The food was quite good. We ordered the fried spareribs as an appetizer, and I had the gumbo. No complaints, and just the right balance of flavors and textures.
Enjoyed the experience overall.
We ordered the meatloaf and salmon entrees. Both were well prepared. Restaurant was very busy and wait staff was understaffed for the number of customers. Using Open Table helped us avoid a 60 minute wait.
We were in a very noisy dining room. Could not hear each other talk at a normal level.
Workflows were not very efficient with staff.
We love this place but it's not as vibrant as it used to be. Maybe it's location? The food was better in the past but it's still good. The atmosphere is nice and the service top notch.
I liked the atmosphere, the staff were friendly, and the location was PRIME!
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. We had leftovers for several meals after (portions were huge) and the key lime pie for desert was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!
Great food, good service. The max&cheese is great. Good value for the food you get. Friendly waiter.
I want to give a special thank to the hostess/waitress ann pulling double duty but very attentive to our needs. She did an excellent job and if i come back i would request her services. We were unsure what to order and she was very knowledgeable of the menu and its items. Overall great service.
I didn't realize this was a hotel based restaurant, but a great variety of southern foods well crafted. Very good service. We will do this again.
Chad was a great server, very attentive without being overly so. The food and drinks were attractive and delicious. I recommend the risotto!
We booked the rye restaurant for dinner since we were attending a event at the duke center. We were greeted and shown-en to our table. The waitress came by right away and took our drink orders. She returned with them in just a few minutes. We ordered appetizers which were the deep fried ribs which were very good. Our dinner order was taken at 6:40 pm. We waited till 7:45 and no food. We noticed the restaurant was under staffed, tables were not being bussed and there was only 2 waitress, and they running around. Because our show was at 8pm we payed the bill and left.
I am unable to rate the food because we never got our dinner but the waitress was very good . The problem was with the kitchen staff for not being organized and unable to do there job. The is very uncommon for a Marriott hotel to be this was.
We may try them again., or maybe not
LOVE the place
The atmosphere is very relaxing and the people were very curious and showed kindness
The food was phenomenal but the portions were tiny and expensive.
Nice, spacious, and modern. Server seemed new, but was nice enough. Everything came out nicely and on time.
Went for business lunch with group. Overall good but very loud. The budget vs menu choice is a little confusing.
We had a little wait for our meals, but it was worth it! Staff was friendly and helpful, food was outstanding. Will definitely be back!
Great place to eat, especially if you are going to a performance at the Duke Energy Center. Staff works very hard to accommodate you if time is of the essence.
Perfect, enjoyed my food
I had a business meeting and it went perfect in terms of ambience and noise as well as service,
Great food. Wonderful waiter: knowledgeable, friendly, did not rush us.
Loved the restaurant! Weird vibe with it being attached to a hotel, as there was a party and many loud guests. The food was amazing though. Get the sweet potato hush puppies!
Food was surprisingly good. I had the gumbo and I really enjoyed it. Our party of nine was served quickly by a very nice waitress. They accommodated our last minute additions to our group and that was much appreciated.
It was an hour between the time we ordered and got our food....5:15pm on a Thursday. My chicken was well overdone...probably sitting under the heat lamp for a long period of time.
Good food - reasonably priced. Great service. Couldn't fit in dessert!
Very disappointing. Beautiful location, setting, visually 5 stars. Went down hill from there. Was expecting something a bit more up scale and food, staff, etc were definitely not that.
Food is always good, but service was horrible. Took ten minutes after being seated to be asked for our drink order. Waitress was very apologetic. After we ordered food, it took 20+ minutes to get our food, and no waitress ever came by to check on us or refill drinks. Had to seek out another waitress to get refills, and she mixed up the drinks. Bad service experience all around.
I had eggs Benedict. It was awful. I was taking clients out and Rye was recommended. I was so disappointed. The good thing out of all of it was the petit blonde waitress. Super sweet and very hospitable.
Service slow, took 40 minutes to get meal, and then my chicken sandwich had soggy bun and fries cold. Apparently lost our order but never sensed any urgency from staff. Did give us 50% off but doubt will go back anytime soon
Great food; liberal portions. Waiter Rick is the best! Will fine there often, especially for performance at the Duke Energy Center.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience when we went on a Saturday evening. We went for a 6:00 dinner before a show at Meymandi. Our waitress was very nice, but in general service seemed very slow even though there were only two to three other tables seated around us. The rest of the restaurant was fairly empty. We got our water, and one appetizer quickly, but waited a solid 35 minutes for our soup and a refill on water/to order more drinks. By that time we did not really want to order more drinks as our soup and main courses came out all at once.
Our fried green tomatoes were excellent, but everything else was unfortunately so so. My medium steak was well done but my “scalloped potatoes” were extremely undercooked. My boyfriend’s coleslaw was extremely wet and did not taste or look fresh, and his side of “fries” were extremely over cooked/tough. The temperature and texture was like they had been sitting under a heating lamp for some time. I have been to Rye Bar before and do not recall being this unhappy with our service or food.
We had 30 minutes before we needed to leave for our show so I decided to try and give them a chance with their dessert. I ordered the “seasonal tart” and unfortunately was very unhappy with it. It tasted like they used frozen blueberries and just topped them with a mountain of powdered sugar. Far too sweet for any fruit tart. And it wasn’t warm or cold, it was simply room temperature. Maybe that’s just me, but fruit tarts are usually served warm or chilled.
Overall we were pretty disappointed. Like I said, we’ve been once before but don’t recall it being nearly as slow or the food being so disappointing. We will most likely not return and do not recommend it.
Limited menu, mushy veggie burger, good sweet potato fries and gumbo, good selection of sides, but green beans were a bit undercooked. But nothing about our dining experience was fun or surprising or yummy yummy. Prices were average for downtown Raleigh.
this was our second time at Rye Bar, (I had offered a mixed review after our first experience) - this time... first, I asked the waitperson if their signature bloody mary would have all the ingredients as stated on the menu, since the first time I ordered one it had NONE of the toppings (we were comped our dessert that time without asking so it more than made up for it), but the pimiento cheese-stuffed olives ended up being a single olive with a gaping empty whole - this restaurant has several dishes with pimiento cheese so this was likely due to a complete lack of attention (on the first visit we were told that they were out of pickled okra and olives lol) - I was the only one in our party of four that ordered an appetizer, so I requested that it be brought out with everyone's food, but no, they neglected to do that, so I had to eat (an excellent) bowl of clams and mussels while others looked on - one of us is allergic to corn, and was strongly assured that the sweet potato hushpuppies did not contain corn - of course they did and the waitperson seemed unsure about taking them away - it then took a half hour or more after my appetizer before everyone's food came out (we were on a tight schedule due to a concert, but had allowed an hour and a half to eat, which turned out to not be enough time) we had to ask where our entrees were from another staff person and when the waitperson stormed out of the kitchen with them, she literally almost through them on the table! - while my sides were hot (and very good: collards and smoked beans) my entire rack of ribs ranged in temperature from cold to lukewarm and I let her know that was the case - my wife's meatloaf was excellent - without asking, they ended up taking 20% off of the bill for the couple who had ordered the supposedly corn-free hushpuppies, and they did not charge me for the ribs which was surprising, but since this was such a major disappointment we just do not see ourselves trying Rye Bar another time
Service was very slow. Menu was just ok, a bit limited. We all enjoyed our meals though.
Good food and service.
Great location but service was very friendly but not great, bar drinks were 5-10 minutes to arrive and ended up going to find a water refill after asking three times. . Meatloaf was AWESOME but chicken was over cooked and dry. Just wasn’t that busy of a night.
