Justin was a great server with a great personality. We had the mushrooms stuffed with crab as an appetizer, these were phenomenal!!! Dinner we had filet minion, lamb chops, and crab. Sides were an assortment of mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, and lobster Mac. Everything was delicious!!
Decided to wear my nice wool hat, was told immediately that hats were not allowed in the dining room, ok. I'm ok with that but can you tell why tennis shoes are allowed and not a dress wool hat? What a Circus. Get your rules in order people.
This was a valentine date. Worst experience and honestly debating taking action against the company. When I arrived the guy who worked there was extremely rude to me saying I smelled like marijuana and that I needed to go outside in front of 6-8 people waiting. I don’t even smoke I was like wtf and he’s like come on let’s go let’s go. He then proceeded to say I need to stay outside and air out while he came out to smoke a cigarette. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. I then asked him an I go back in now and he had the audacity to say come here let me smell you and he did and he said ok your good go in. Honestly I don’t know wtf this company is thinking or doing I don’t smoke and was just humiliated like some punk kid. Then the food was ok paid $500 and the lobster was dried out and bs. This is some crazy bs and I’m seeking what I can do to escalate this because nobody should be treated the way I was. Reminder on Valentine’s Day with my wife. Embarrassed both of us for no damn reason. F this place!

The other guests have rose petals on their tables, but ours and some others don’t have them. What hurts most was when the next table was done and new guests were seated, they put petals on their table. (Ouch)
Food were great, but the portions were small and since the plates were hot, they put it in a small plate, and just served it. The presentation of the food were dull and not appealing. The steak were just sitting on a plate by itself. I was expecting more fancier at least to looked at, and more appealing.
The waiter was great, but it took five minutes after we were seated to approach us.
Then there was a woman intruder who were giving out flowers, followed by a male who was recording. Restaurant have security guard but was too busy sitting people. (Isn’t he supposed to safeguard the guests and employees???) don’t they have enough people to sit people in and just concentrate on greeting guests as they walk in and safeguard them?
By the time the employees have noticed the intruders, they were already inside and the commotions were very loud.
I understand that it was a busy night, but they should have been more prepared.
I guess I was expecting too much, but compare to other steakhouse in the area, I would look somewhere else first.

Food was outstanding. Service was wonderful and quick. Ambiance and decor fantastic. Our visit was quite busy and louder than normal. I’m guessing this was due to Valentines Day. Couldn’t really have a quiet dinner. Last note, didn’t seem like their dress code was enforced. Where we were sitting we saw folks wearing jogging pants, torn jeans, leggings, hoodies, and even hats. I like to be comfortable also, especially when I eat a filling meal, but I was called twice by the restaurant before our reservation and was told about the minimum strict business casual attire. Just saying. Overall, I LOVE eating here.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day here. This particular Ruth’s Chris has great cooks and service! The restaurant has been around for years! I love that it is the same as years ago. When I want steak, it is my choice in San Francisco.
We were celebrating Valentine's day. we were seated right away and place directly below a vent blowing cold air. We asked to be moved and the server said all tables were reserved. We made reservation but didn't request a specific table! We were considering leaving and so we asked again, the server checked with a manager and we were seated at a better table. This is not how customer service should work.
Very disappointing, with so many other great steakhouse in the city I will probably take my business elsewhere.
1000% better than my visit late last year. Many more employees visible. Busspeople were very attentive. Waitperson was eager to make sure all was done well. I learned from my previous bad experience to ask for light salt on my steak and no char. Manager taught me these tricks. Also steak was a perfect medium. Only bad experience this time was the failure of check-in seating people to read the notes they have on file about my desires when I dine there. I am disabled and I need a chair and not a booth. Hence, they tried to seat me 3 times until I told them to read the notes.

Big 60th birthday party for 12 with amazing seafood tower medley and some veggie appetizers (Brussels sprouts and stuffed mushrooms) and then most of us ordered the fixed price menu with a petite filet. It was all delicious and the steaks and sides were all perfectly cooked. We brought champagne & wine and Pd a $15/bottle corkage which worked out well after everyone ordered cocktails from the bar. I decorated the table a few minutes before everyone sat down (no Mylar balloons allowed) with a Vegas theme, and that also got people in the mood to share in the fun. Only wish we had a round table, but understood. We couldn’t afford the private room minimum, so it worked out.

As always, the food was incredible. Our server, Emanuel was excellent. Not sure which was better, the food it the service. One of our perennial favorites. Never disappoints!
Great food as usual. My only complaint is that in trying to provide excellent service they over did it a bit. They were checking on the food when I had only taken one bit. Don’t get me wrong better this way then the other. Just stating an observation. Overall would good back! I love this place.
After dining here for years, we were quiet appalled at the quality's nosedive. It just wasn't a Ruth Chris experience. To start off the birthday dinner, we ordered the BBQ shrimp, which lacked its usual flavor and mostly tasted of butter. Then came the Caesar salads, which were extremely underdressed. A waiter (not our main one) stopped by and asked if everything was okay, to which I had mentioned the lack of dressing. Instead of taking it back he brought back a side of dressing, which to be honest tasted like a low quality store bought Caesar dressing. But for what we most looked forward to the whole dinner... our steaks. One came out fine, the other--the meat itself tasted (and smelled) bad. Our waiter came by as I had my first bite asking how the food is to which the birthday boy replied good, and the waiter quickly left the table. After a few more bites I couldn't eat the meat anymore, it was truly off-putting so I moved it to the side of the table. The waiter came by and asked if he should pack it to go, to which I said no thank you and explained it's unpleasant taste. Before the desserts came out, the manager came over to ask about our experience, to which I mentioned the seemingly dip in quality of the food. He asked what specifically, so I explained the bad taste of the meat, and also made it a point to mention that our waiter has been nice and it's the overall quality of the whole meal that was disappointing. He then questioned us if the waiter had been checking up on us throughout the meal, saying that he can't do anything if we don't mention it during the meal. To finish it off, for dessert I had asked for fresh berries with a side cream. Unfortunately what was brought out was berries inside their overbearingly sweet cream sauce, but to be honest it was getting late and we were on our way to a show so I didn't even bother returning it. An extremely disappointing experience, we won't be back.

Birthday dinner with friends. Group of 8 and the service was exceptional, especially our waiter Wilbert. The pace was just perfect, the food was amazing. Everyone in our group had a wonderful time last night!
Good, but not as good as other RC around the country. My favorite steak house is Del Frisco
Second time (different location) my filet was seriously undercooked. I sent it back & it was returned overdone. Ruths Cris was our reliable go to when traveling because the quality was consistent. It seems that is no longer the case.

Food and service went above and beyond. If you can have Montaisha as your server you will have a wonderful experience as she is pleasant and knowledgeable about the food, the preparations and the history of the restaurant. Highly recommended. Definitely a place for special occasions.
Always a pleasure dining at a Ruth’s Chris, whether in the U.S.A. Or abroad. The aesthetic of a fine steakhouse is what we enjoy, coupled with the delicious food that’s always cooked to perfection.
Was here for our anniversary, visiting SF for the first time from Tx. The staff was warm and welcoming, the food was great, and since it was our anniversary they offered us free dessert-cheesecake! When I say that cheesecake was by far the best I’ve had in a restaurant ever. My steak was cooked really well and it was juicy and well seasoned. Everything was perfect!
My husband LOVED his bone in Filet. I got the mini filet and two lobster tails. The lobster tails were over seasoned and too salty (and I love salt). The lobster mac and cheese and creamed spinach was delicious.

Really expensive for a really charred steak...lots of burnt gristle. Maybe they were offended by my having ordered a filet well done. Who knows? For people who profess to know steaks, that thing should’ve never left the kitchen. Just okay. Waiters were nice. Atmosphere was peaceful. Much better steak house options for less. Not the best. Not the worst. Mehh.
Excellent service, delicious food, great portion size, and clean! Can't recall our waiter's name, but he was very attentive. In fact, all the people working were very attentive, professional, and personable. No complaints at all!

After a terrible experience at Ruth's Chris the first time, you might ask why I would go back?
1. My husband loved the food
2. We were staying at an hotel across the street--ultra convenient
3. I can use credit card reward points for gift certificates--with a 25% tip, dinner only cost me $30 of real cash
This time we sat at the bar for a casual dinner. I was so relieved when the bartender, Mike, actually had a great understanding of the menu---he could describe & recommend dishes!!! He made great drinks & we had lots to talk about. He suggested the fried shrimp appetizer. It was quite tasty & reminded me of the honey walnut prawns from a Chinese restaurant. We also got the lobster mac n' cheese, which was really the main reason we came back to this place. Super creamy, salted just right & topped off with a good amount of lobster.
Ambiance is super dated & uneventful. I've had a terrible service experience & a great service experience...which leaves me wondering what experience is the norm here?
I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here...but if I was in the neighborhood, I'd be happy to roam in for a cocktail & a few snacks.

First time to this location, overall met my expectations. However, the sides were a little on the salty side this time. Will definitely be returning.
The food was the better part of the evening as well as the communication with our server.
Two steaks cooked to our requests; BBQ shrimp was moist - not overcooked like many places; good butter. The toasted bread that came with the shrimp was more of a crouton than toast; the steak had more fat than most same cuts of meat I tend to purchase for dinner parties. It was not bad, but definitely more on the fatty side.
There were two assistant managers which seemed to talk a lot near our table or could be heard to a point of being a nuisance. When we left the restaurant, these two were in the short hallway between reception and the dining area almost blocking egress, slouched and leaning far into the small area which to pass, casually engaged with each other, and without a word to guests - it was awkward and unprofessional. This is aside from the waiter who was kicking a dropped beer bottle several times. There seems to be an issue with service overall; but, the expediting of food was very good. We asked for water several times and waited for the waiter who left for an amount of time which seemed unusual. It was a one and done at this place, especially for the cost of the meal. I give this a 3-star rating - nothing more and nothing less.

I had never been to this steakhouse before. It is been around a long time. So I was excited to try it. When you walk in it is a very warm and comfortable Darkwood surrounding. We were greeted with neutral friendliness. We were then seated for an early reservation since we had a show to catch. Our server seemed nice enough, fairly reserved. We ordered drinks to start. Then ordered appetizers and dinner. We all had a salad and one person had the soup. They were nice enough to split a salad. But one of those salads had a dark hair in it yuck. He Lemley offered to replace it but we didn’t have time. Next most of us ordered a steak and shared some sides. The entire menu was totally boring. Really? There is nothing updated or interesting about the menu. It is very, very standard fare and as it turns out the sides were below standard in taste and presentation. My filet steak came out completely overdone I had ordered medium but he quickly took it away and replaced it with a properly cooked steak which was delicious. All the steaks were very nice and delicious. One person ordered fish which was fair to good. I wouldn’t return or recommend this restaurant. It is tired and outdated and there are so many more interesting and delicious options in San Francisco.
The last thing we want is for our guests to leave feeling disappointed. We believe that the quality of our service, atmosphere, and food make us one of the finest high-end steakhouses anywhere, and we wish you'd left with a better impression of the value of our offerings.
