Our waiter was amazing. He asked us if we were here for a special occasion which we were. My fiance recently received a promotion. Our steak was melt in your mouth delicious. Our waiter knew when to stop by and when not to interrupt. At the end of our dinner, he brought out chocolate covered strawberries that spelled out "congratulations". It definitely made our night.

I just wanted to drop a quick line about our (my) dining experience on Saturday. Let me start by saying there was (4) of us and everything was fantastic other than my steak. I believe we had 2 fillets, 1 crab cake (an an entree) and I had the rib-eye. The place looked fantastic as usual and the staff was also top notch. I wish I could remember the name of our waiter because he was excellent. Again, please let me reiterate that the drinks, the other 3 entrees and the sides were all excellent. I ordered the rib-eye for 2 reasons. One, its always my favorite cut of meat and 2 because over the last month and a half or so I was able to dine at several of the local steak house''s so just for me, I wanted to compare. This is where it went down hill. I was brought the first rib-eye and it was good/not great and actually had quite of bit of gristle (not fat) on it. The flavor was merely average. Our waiter asked how it was and I was honest "it was just okay". There was not a lot wrong but for Ruth Chris and 50.00 I expected much much more. He swiftly took my steak and asked to let him make it right. I agreed. A lady manager, I presume, then came to my table and assured me they would fix the issue and that she would check back on me. She did not come back. My new rib-eye arrived and to be 100 percent honest it was basically the same steak with less gristle. Again, good not great. It just didn't have that burst of flavor that you, at least I, expect from a top level steak house. I felt like I could have achieved this flavor profile with a good cut of meat from Meijer and my backyard grill. I was at Red 2 weeks ago, also had the ribeye and in just my humble opinion, there was no comparison. At a 160.00 bill I guess I just expected much more from Ruth Chris.

The tomahawk ribeye was excellent. Cooked to perfection despite its massive thickness.

We have dinned at Ruth Chris many times. We live in Chicago but have family in Indy. Most of the time our experience has been nice. I do believe they serve one of the best steaks however on this night, everything was average to below average. We had at 9:15pm reservation so decided to have a drink in the bar. The bar area was a mess and the place was packed. Getting a drink was nearly impossible. The restaurant was also freezing cold. We were sat in the room closest to the door and were so cold we ate with our coats on. I had the surf and turf. The lobster tail was small and my steak was over-cooked. Even the shrimp cocktail seemed like smaller pieces of shrimp and it was filled with cabbage and hardly any cocktail sauce. Our creamed spinach came out luke warm at best. I’ve definitely had better dinners at Ruth Chris but not that night. We walked away feeling we should have spent our $150 at another place.

Although the temperature outside was very cold on NYE, the temperature in the dining room was very brisk, uncomfortable in fact. Many people had their coats and jackets on. This is unacceptable for a place like this.
