We had a very enjoyable meal with friends to celebrate Edmonton
Downtown Dining Week. Delicious meal served by extremely well trained staff. However the most memorable part of the evening was the outstanding service, care and compassion shown by several staff, including the hostess, our server and several others. Our friend was taken suddenly very ill as we were leaving the restaurant. Very distressing for her and th rest of us. Thank you to the staff for their kindness, including a follow up phone all the next day.
We will definitely return.
2nd Dining Experience for #DowntownDiningWeek - @Ruthschrisyeg If you have never been to Ruth's Chris, you must go. A beautiful traditional steakhouse complete with linens on the tables, and the staff dressed in sharp uniforms. From the time we entered the restaurant until our final farewell, we were treated well by everyone. The food was beyond perfect and our server, Curtis was nice enough to provide us with a little history about the beautiful building we sat in and Ruth's Chris. I had the Executive Dinner for $45 - an outstanding value. Lobster Bisque, Petit Filet, Fire Roasted Corn and the Chocolate Duo. I believe I found my new favorite restaurant. I will definitely be back. Tip from our server - on Sundays they have $44 prime time menu and 2 can dine for $120 on Wednesdays
The evening was almost 4 hours of excellent food and service. There were six of us celebrating my 60th birthday and all raved about their meals. We shared some appetizers and all were especially impressed by the calamari.
The entrees were fantastic, I and one other gentleman had the T-bone steak and both of us agreed that they were among the best steaks we had ever had. Generous cuts and excellently cooked at exactly medium rare.
We shared the veggies sides, with each of us ordering something different. The potatoes au gratin were great and the sweet potatoes were especially sweet and popular. One side per person was the perfect amount.
We did have desserts, and I loved my chocolate lava cake with ice cream. We had wonderful wine with dinner and at the end of dinner some of us had coffees - and those that had coffee raved so much that they got the name of the beans from the server so they could then buy them for home.
Overall a great time, and if there are six of you ask for the round table in front of the fireplace. It is perfect.
Quite expensive. The Waiter was excellent. I was happily surprised at how jovial, friendly and outgoing the staff was.
The food was tremendous. All of it!!!
Excellent! Food and service. Quite costly but worth it for a special occation
Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. Best steak I've ever had. They went out of their way to make us feel special on our 10th anniversary.
Great night. Food and drink fantastic. Service was great. Even more special being in the vault dining room. We will be back
Fabulous meal, James was the most excellent server and made the evening even more special!! Taste of course couldn’t compare to anywhere!!!
Great restaurant. Excellent steak and excellent service.
Parking in the ATB parking garage was an experience we will not eagerly have again.
We had an excellent evening out, the food was amazing and so was the service, the staff were all professional, courteous and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Was great overall, except the dinner time reservation I wanted was apparently full only to find out the place was half full.
The food was ok - wasn’t out of the world or anything. Not worth the big costs.
Ruth’s Chris is decent for a change of pace. I’ve been a few times but never left a review. Worth crossing off the bucket list but not a place you want to consider for frequent visits. Food is severely overpriced when considering the taste and quality. Server we had was excellent, she was one of the few things that made the dining enjoyable. It’ll be a few years before we visit this restaurant again. Ambience was dreadful, had us tucked away in the basement in a stuffy room. There’s definitely better places in Edmonton to enjoy a night out. Especially considering the amount of money spent.
My fiance and I came here and were blown away by the amazing service and mouth-watering food. My only problem was the dark area we ate in made it slightly difficult to see. Otherwise, excellent.
Our server James was excellent and we both ordered the Chicken which was absolutely the best chicken I've had in my life. I didn't care for the music -- I think it was popular in the forties maybe. I really appreciated how James asked us if we would like to wait for our entrees and he was aware of the timing of the meal and when each course would be ready. Maybe twice in my life have front and back of house been in such good communication with each other. I felt that our experience as an evening out and the pace of the meal was purposeful and well taken care of. I would turn the lights lower for sure and definitely consider having parking spots available next to the restaurant rather than at ATB a block away through the ice and minus 30 weather. And the reservation reminders could inform your customers about parking before we are paid for at the impark.
Overall an excellent experience for our valentines date.
This was our first time here in many years and not one bad thing to say about the place. Great place to have a quiet meal with friends or a loved one. Everything was top notch with our evening from the staff to the 5 star meals. Yes the menu is pricey but nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while when the food is great.
A place to check your coat, someone to greet you at the door, delicious food, quiet atmosphere, white table cloths, and treated like royalty. You wouldn't want to dine at Ruth's Chris.
Forgot your reading glasses...no problem.... you can borrow a pair from the restaurant.
The three course dinner options are a great deal. I suggest that you select a dinner side that your company and share them as they are large enough for two people and you can add variety to your meal.
I loved everything about this place except the bill. Lol. I mean. Everything was perfect, I just can’t say I’ll ever go back because of the price. It’s one of those..... I can say I went there but I won’t go back, not because of the food or service. Just because I can eat just as well at other restaurants for about half the price.
Excellent in all respects. Parking is a bit of a pain.
Fantastic service. Great food.
For the last 5 years, my friend and I have been coming to Ruth's Chris when we come into Edmonton for Teachers' Convention. It is conveniently located next to the hotel of our choice, Courtyard by Marriott, and we know that we will have a fantastic meal with wonderful service - and we have NEVER been disappointed. Thank you for such special memories as we reconnect and enjoy a splendid meal!!
Great food and service. Would definitely come again especially for a special occasion.
The food was great. The server could have paid more attention to the person who was having a birthday. My husband received the candle and everyone at the table did not receive what was ordered. It was all there, but not presented to the right person. This does retract from the ambience .
Food fantastic, music annoying at times, classical preferred.
Although the booth was good the seats were high off the floor and the ladies’ feet did not rest on the floor creating discomfort. Recommend a diner be 5’8”.
Birthday. It was awesome Our waitress brought a card and sprinkled happy birthday notes when we sat down
She made Wade feel special through out the meal and brought a complimentary dessert at the end
The service and the food were exceptional as always.
My wife and I have been going to Ruth Chris for the last 4 years on our anniversary. We have always had a good experience. They don’t make a big thing about casual dress.
The food is prepared to our liking and we don’t feel rushed to leave. The staff are very professional
The appetizer was amazing, and the service was fantastic . My boyfriend and i just did not enjoy our steak at all . We shared the tomahawk ribeye . My portion was mostly fat, and my boyfriend's was more rare then medium rare .
Overall it was an okay experience . But it was not worth the 300$ that I spent.
Had some problems with wrong orders and cold lobster bisque. ThInking after we let them know about the issues they would provide better service but it ended up being slow and we ended up being disappointed. For a near $400 meal I would expect a whole lot more. Was a special occasion and we left disappointed.
Over all good!!! We had same waiter and he is consistently not attentive. For the price we expect excellent service.
Maestros, same caliber restaurant, has always had top notch service and this is all we have to compare our experience to.
We love the food and that’s what keeps us coming back...so cheers to the kitchen!! They are the best!
Nelson (our waiter) repeated questions, forgot answers, was slow to help, did not include spoons with side orders, never cleared plates until the end, or top up waters. Very disappointed. - Constantin jr. Zanoaga, 780-940-0444
I was a little disappointed. I took my son for our first visit. The food was good not great. The service bordered on poor, i was surprised. Have been to many top steak houses across North America and this one did not rate high.
I booked Ruth's for a birthday and the meal was awesome, and not as expensive as I had been led to believe. Service was great and atmosphere was very elegant. I'll definitely go back for more special occasions!
Ruth's Chris steak house was recommended from my brother who is a chef. Everything was exceptional and food was delicious. The only disappointment was for this special night out, the table was so large that it did take away the romance.
For this reason I would probably not make it a romantic date night.
The service was wonderful. The table had Happy Birthday sprinkles on it and it looked very festive and nice. The appetizers were very tasty and ample. The salad and soup were great. The meat eaters loved their respective meats: chicken, steak. The salmon was slightly overdone. The Napolean vegetable dish was disappointing - quite tasteless but beautifully presented. The sides were good - mashed potatoes and asparagus. The desserts were spectacular and enjoyed by all. The ambiance is fabulous and again, service is second to none!
Nelson our server was outstanding. Great service with a smile.
From the moment we walked in the door we were impressed. Reserved for the wife's birthday and was top notch from the atmosphere to first greeting and of course great service and food. Our steaks were cooked to absolute perfection melt in your mouth. Prices are not shy but in my opinion well worth it. I will definitely return.
We enjoyed the evening and all were pleased with their meals. Having the three course meal with three different steaks cooked to how we liked them. Going from Medium rare to Medium and then Medium well all were perfect. Hot plates with the steaks were great and with asparagus and mashed potatoes as the veggies we left feeling full but not stuffed. Caesar salad was very good and the desert finished the meal (not too sweet and heavy). Great place to eat. Will go back again.
Highly recommend, amazing food and service! The staff are very friendly
Black specs in my creme bruillet could not be explained. I researched the recipe and am sure
It was vanilla bean. The waiter said
Torch debris or something but
Server was very good
My asparagus got cold at my table but it Was -37 that night!
All was good
Ruths Chris...blew me away. Their service was impeccable.
The atmosphere is that of a classy restaurant. I do not suggest bringing small children. It holds more of a romantic, calm, fancy restaurant type feel. We were on a rare date night and the atmosphere was perfect for that.
Dress code: I don't suggest jeans & a t-shirt. Although, they only things they don't allow is ripped jeans and hats. So you *can* wear jeans and a T...but you will feel underdressed! I wore jeans with a really elegant shirt. My hubby wore slacks & a button up shirt. We fit in.
The food. OMG...the food. I'm not a seafood fan, so I can't comment on that. Or the alcohol as I'm super pregnant and can't drink either. I did eat their Petit Filet - 8oz - of pure steak goodness. I asked for it to be cooked Medium and it was. To absolute perfection. I kid you not, I have never eaten steak that tender, that soft, that melt-in-your-mouth. The outside was nice and crispy and as soon as it hit my tongue, it was so tendery soft it was a mouth-gasm. I was left speechless, a feat not often accomplished. I highly highly recommend their steak!
As for our sides. At this restaurant, you order your items a la carte. I chose steak, mashed potatoes & their jalapeno corn. The mashed potatoes are very mashed. Like...creamy mashed. They were a little too smooth for my liking, I prefer thicker mashed potatoes tbh, but they did taste good! The corn was phenomenal! As a sidenote: one side dish is enough for 2 people. Keep that in mind when you order.
Also, wednesdays is date night. Meaning, two people can order from their Date Night menu for $120. That includes a glass of wine for each person, one starter to share, one entree for each person, and 1 side PER PERSON. Oh, and dessert to share. I highly suggest their Creme Brulee. I could have eaten 4 of those.
As for budget concerns. You will spend close to $150-200 for two people if you include alcohol and tip.
