Wonderful food and service
One couldn't find a more beautiful setting to dine in Aruba. The property at The Hyatt Aruba is meticulously maintained and Ruinas Del Mar borders a lovely koi pond where a black swan resides. The property, setting and menu prices most certainly create an expectation that an exceptional dining experience was in store.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Both my wife and I wondered if the lack of attention to our table was part of the restaurant's COVID protocols. If so, none of that was stated in writing or by our server upon greeting.
We ordered bottled water, of which we poured ourselves. We asked for another bottle after our glasses were empty. We poured our own wine ($105 bottle). After being done with our appetizers for close to 10 minutes, I chose to clear them myself. When doing so, the server assistant vocalized something to me in a negative tone. (I wasn't listening after it wasn't an apology).
I realize that this sounds very "snobby". What's the big deal, right? EXPECTATION. If a restaurant is going to charge $85 for Surf & Turf, $42 for scallops, $37 for a lobster appetizer, and a steak entree for our 11yr old, (all of which we ordered)...the guest SHOULD NOT HAVE TO POUR WATER OR CLEAR PLATES, end of story. The guest should certainly not have to hear anything other than an apology from an employee after performing their job.
By the way, the food was excellent, presented in a very inviting way. That got lost however because the staff phoned it in. Instead of serving their guests, the staff was leaning on the pillars and phoning it in. We wont be back. The 15% auto gratuity was not earned.

My husband and I checked into the hotel at 6pm. We were not expecting anything special. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Thank you for making the night special.

This was our splurge night. The service and view were spot on. We were u happy with the menu changes.
I have a screen shot of the menu from last year (we LOVED our meal last year). The photo shows the Surf and turf for $30 less than this year. I realize it’s a different type of beef but traditional Surf and Turf is filet and lobster.
We were very disappointed.
Also the shrimp cocktail was a big disappointment. They were tiny arm tasteless.
The wine was good and our other food items perfectly good.

The only thing that im very disappointed in , is that i made the reservation online as requested. I inserted its my husband bday , and for the night at the end i had would like for the staff to sing happy birthday for him or do something special for him, but nothing has been done. When we arrived at the restaurant i try to give the host a heads up without my husband noticing by telling her i made the reservation online and her answer was its ok its not busy. I thought maybe she would a still go and see the reservation but she did not . So on that side i was a little disappointed with the restaurant/staff . .... other then that everything was great

On seemed microwaved, I couldn’t finish it. The “flourless chocolate cake” was definitely microwaved and smelled like boxed cake. I didn’t waste calories on that one at all. It reminded me of a lava cake, no effort. The service was good though, not their fault the heads don’t think hiring a chef is worth it.
Decent experience. Clearly I ordered the wrong thing. It was okay, but sure not worth what it cost. The place itself is very nice and I'm sure that they have good dishes that I need to try next time.

Mediocre food, sub-standard service. Hostess was rude, and waitress was slow (slow night too) the entire service. Although she races over to see what her tip was as we were standing up to leave... Very tacky. Would NOT recommend even to one of the starving dogs in this island.

Ruinas Del Mar is a steak and seafood restaurant at the Hyatt. Service was excellent. Food was cooked perfect. The Filet & Lobster tail vey tasty. Was a little pricey but when everything was delicious and service was great it makes up for the price. We will go back next trip

Requested and outside terrace table on my initial reservation for 4 people told they only had two duces outside. The food is not worth the price and the inside seating was less than optimal. I would not recommend for mediocre food
