What Insiders Are Saying
Bill and Giuliana Rancic force us to like them with excellent Italian food in a trendy setting.
First time going to RPM. Let me say, the food was amazing! It was the kind of menu where you can't decide because everything looked so good! Ambiance was awesome & Service was great. I think I found my new favorite restaurant!
I can't say enough about the service and the food. We went on a Wednesday evening and before we left the restaurant was packed -- for good reason. Every part of our dinner was great beginning with the octopus hot appetizer and Italian salad which was perfectly dressed. There was a black truffle risotto as a special. I wanted try it as a I had had a black truffle pasta dish at a restaurant in Boston that was great. this black truffle risotto was even better and I would definitely order it again. My entree was the salmon which was piping hot, well prepared and very very flavorful. There was a short rib special for the night over rice that my husband ordered and it was fall off the bone tender and flavorful. We can't wait to return for another dinner.
Very good - would return!
Everything was perfect! Food, service, wine list, ambiance...I'll definitely go again!
The service was great, including the hostess, our waiter and other help staff. Our waiter was very helpful with recommendations and enhancing our food experience.
Heard great reviews. I was very excited to dine here. We had the beets for an appetizer they were delicious! The octopus was very good. I had the seafood pasta and it didn’t have the shrimp or Scallops in it like it said. It was all pasta. My husband had the Braised pot belly pasta and it might of had a tablespoon of meat in it! Very disappointed in our entrées. The service was just ok.
Food was excellent, we love RPM. Service was average.
We had amazing service and the food was incredible! Best way to spend my birthday!
It was great!
The only issue was that we had a reservation at 8:30. We were not seated until 9:08. That’s a long wait time for a reservation. Especially when we came hungry, ready to enjoy our meal! Otherwise food and service were fabulous as usual.
We have eaton there many times, and this was the exception where the food was sub par. The fried calamari was all breading, little calamari. It as mad differently than we usually had it. Same with the Brussels sprouts, much too much vinegar. The braised beef had much to much salt. The chicken was great as always and so were the deserts. Hopefully this was an off night, and not an indication of the future. We will try it again, but if it is sub par again it gets crossed off the list.
My daughter, female friend and I traveled to Chicago for a show and RPM was an added highlight. My friend and I are both plus size women. First we were placed at the back of the room next to the wait station when there was plenty of seating available in the front. Then the waiter was extremely condescending and acted as if he was doing us a favor by speaking to us. We walked out and would never return.
Kristen was absolutely amazing! She gave us incredible service! She was kind, friendly, and attentive. She made my cousin and my 30th birthday so special! The food was AMAZING I can’t wait to go back!
The food was not that great. This was highly rated and it turned out to be quite a disappointment. The meatballs were very bland but the sauce was good. The garlic bread was room temp. In short, there was nothing which was exceptional--too bad.
The ambience, service and aesthetics were all incredible! We loved the food! It’s definitely tops on our list when we visit Chicago again! The team of Dads Dishing loved it!
Had to wait 25 min for our table even though the full party arrived on time
The food was amazing!! And the service was top notch!
First visit, high class establishment, great ambiance and mood. Excellent bar and drinks. Place was packed on a Tuesday night; reservation is highly recommended. Very good selection of appetizers, small plates, entrees, and desserts. Staff across the board were excellent and very helpful. Fried olives were very good. Shared the sea bass for 2 and it was average, still had bones in the fillet. Deserts were excellent; especially the Italian donuts. I would try the steaks or home style pastas next time.
Fabulous fabulous fabulous, afagato must try
I wish that I could say that RPM was the experience I was expecting. Our service was ok, but, it seemed almost lackluster. We waited, considerably, for our orders to be taken. Everything took a REALLY long time to come: drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert.
Appetizers. All I read about was the amazing deep fried olives. I guess I expected a larger olive. They were good, but, not great. The zucchini fritte was so oily that we couldn't finish it and barely touched them. The focaccia was amazing. However, when we asked about the 'lardo', our waiter said, 'pork butter' and walked away. Not quite the explanation we were looking for.....
Dinner. The roast chicken was tasty and a good portion. The chicken parm was totally overcooked and left much to be desired. The bucattini was delicious and definitely met my expectations.
Dessert. The bamolini were to die for. The lemon cake was good, but, not great and the trio of gelato on mini cones was a cute celebratory dessert, but, not really the type of dessert that screams 'Congratulations!'
All in all, our experience was underwhelming. The location was great, the decor was beautiful but the service and the food were only ok.
Our disappointment w/ RPM Italian started when we first walked in (yes, I had made a 1.45pm reservation for 1/6 and I even called to say we may be 5-10 min late.) I felt better when we arrived and I saw the restaurant was basically empty as I don't like to run late when I make a reservation. There were 4 people at the host stand, I gave my name and then the phone rang and the hostess proceeded to answer the phone and take a new reservation as we stood there...The other hostess noticed after a min or two and asked someone to seat us. There were approximately 5 or 6 tables from my recollection and two were either getting or eating dessert that I noticed. We waited w/ no acknowledgement from the waiter (who it seemed wasn't very happy or nice for that matter) to order our drinks and I am sure he was annoyed that a teenager and her aunt just ordered a water and an iced tea. But one should not judge a book by it's cover. My brother is a caterer w/ a large following in Atlanta and not only did I grow up working in the restaurant business but my niece works for his company as well. All of us have traveled all over the world and although we may not be big alcohol or wine drinker's spending a large amount of money on GOOD food is something we are happy to do! After about 10 min., we finally ordered and I can say the one good thing about the meal was the Burrata Honey appetizer, unfortunately when we ran out of bread and asked for more (which we waited to ask for, since no one was around or followed up to see how we were doing) it was another five minutes before it came to the table. Ok, everyone has a bad day, so we ordered our entrees. Butternut Squash Ravioli and Lobster Ravioli. They both came out hot and tasted like absolutely nothing. If I had closed my eyes I could not have told you what I was eating, there was no taste whatsoever. I took my niece here as she was visiting and I was excited to show off great Italian food, what a disappointment!
Plenty of pasta options and based on what I had, chicken parmesan, and from looking around they're all good choices. The chicken parmesan came with two chicken breast lightly crusted and and the sauce was perfect.
Superb as always!
Went for a fun night out and RPM Italian sure delivered! Great service, yummy food!
Fabulous food and our server Luke was fantastic!
Great! Food was phenomenal. Service excellent. Fun and delicious!
RPM Italian doesn’t disappoint! From the servers to the menu, every moment is top notch. We were celebrating our son returning from his first deployment and, may I say, my entire family of fellas was well served and well fed! They all feasted on steaks and chicken, and were thoroughly impressed. I had the swordfish, which was delicious. Our server was great, but I cannot recall his name.
RPM Italian is absolutely a place we’ll go back to!
Best birthday experience 🎂🎊🍾
Absolutely loved our lunch/dinner at RPM Italian! We were in downtown for the weekend celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and chose the restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. The service was outstanding and dishes were amazing, each and every one of them. Our amazing waiter Travis treated us to an appetizer and a dessert (on top of the ones had already ordered) which was very special. He made us feel welcomed and special, so much so, that it felt like he was celebrating right along with us. Thank you!
My fiancee and I came here for the first time. It was amazing! The meatballs were delicious. We also tried a few housemade pasta dishes. We ordered the brussel sprouts and garlic potatoes as sides, they both were mouthwatering! Definitely loved the atmosphere and music!!! I would definitely go back 🙂
Loved our first experience at RPM Italian! Our service was outstanding the food was excellent. Our only complaint was how quickly our entree came out - within 10 minutes of placing the order.
King crab bruschetta was phenomenal and the bucatini is my favorite!
Our server was attentive; lobster ravioli and sweet potato gnocchi were very good-a must dine for anyone visiting the city
Everything is amazing about this restaurant!!!!
Exceptional service! I believe my servers name was Shane, and he was wonderful! Great time, great food, but small portions.. would recommend it to anybody to check it out!
Great food and service. On vacation and was highly recommended by a friend who lives in Chicago. Would definitely comeback.
Food was good, portions very small for the price, which was expensive ! Waiter nice, not very attentive to our table.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. Great location.
The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding.
