Great dinner. Somewhat slow service since we told our server that we were going to the concert at the Rady Shell. But overall, excellent. And on top of that, I left my credit card when I paid the bill and was called to let me know that I had left my card and it was being held at the front desk. Thanks to the hostess who went above and beyond.
We had a reservation for 5:30pm on 9/26 and didn’t get our entree until 90 min later!! Our server was awful and didn’t care that our food was taking so long. She never even acknowledged or apologized the long wait for our food. She was very unacommodating and had excuses. The only people that cared were the shift leader and the Manager, Elizabeth. They both took care of our dinner and invited us back with a gift card. Unfortunately that was my worst dining experience ever however I appreciated the efforts from the shift leader and Elizabeth. They are the ONLY ones who made this right and I do appreciate that.
Bartender and staff were super friendly and prompt! Service rocks!
The service was very good, but the food was not up to the expected standards. The rice in the sushi role was mushy. The fish was dry, and the skin, advertised as crispy, was tough. I think they left it sitting under the warming lamp.
Our server was nice. I ordered shrimp with udon and was so salty. I’ve informed our server and manager gave some discount on the total bill. It was still disappointing, did not enjoy the dinner. We we’re seated indoor, was too dark.
We arrived early and were told by a non caring hostess to go to bar or wait outside until close to our reservation time
Seated around 6:30-reservation time
Ordered something from bar and ordered dinner at same time as told by waiter that it was very busy and may take sometime for dinner to be served
My husband ordered a wine he was familiar with
What was served to him did not look or tasted like what he requested
It was replaced with what he originally ordered
Waited over an hour for main course
My husbands Ahi tuna was cold and not seared
Returned and replaced with correctly prepared Ahi
It was troublesome that we are in a pandemic and almost
No one wore masks when entering inside of restaurant
Bar tenders wore no masks at all
Some waiters in that area pulled their masks down
Do not know who is vaccinated and not or who may be positive for Covid and no one cared
No social distancing at bar area
All waiters in outside dining wore masks and were very attentive
Food wash just ok
Would not return
Food was amazing!! Service was great and Mai Tai’s are the absolute eat we’ve ever had!! Thank you Staff at Roy’s die such an amazing experience!
We had a great time! Delicious cocktails, yummy food, Kimberly was attentive and gave us time to enjoy our meal. Was lovely! The bill did reflect how much fun we had - oh well, yolo!
Overall great experience. Had an issue with an extra entree being added to our order and ended up paying for it because it was prepared and felt bad.
The staff were friendly and very efficient. And the food was delicious.
Even with a reservation we waited a long time for our table and over an hour as half for our food. Parking was a disaster and access to the restaurant was hard to find and the walk was not well marked. Overall we wouldn’t dine here ever again
Food was good but almost all starters and salads were spicy. Our server ignored us after he delivered the food. We had to flag down someone else to get the check.
I wanted the tuna but only came blacken. They suggested the large shrimp and noodles. The noodles were great., I don’t think fish would eat the shrimp as bait. Otherwise a beautiful setting. At hotel
Check your bill before you pay. We were charged $6.50 for Fijiwater that we did not order and did not receive. The waiter made no apology but immediately agreed to change the bill. The appetizer was disappointing. The entre's were fine. $14.00 for a cupcake with pineapple bits with a scoop of ice cream was not a good value.
Excellent meal for a hotel restaurant. My wife is gluten-free and the chef was very flexible to make modifications to accommodate a GF meal.
Food was bland. Not creative. No bread.
No value, just a name
Our experience was outstanding. The Mai Tai’s, the appetizer and entrees were excellent. We have missed Roy’s since the one near our home in Woodland Hills, Ca, closed.
Outside table at sunset was beautiful. Went to celebrate my birthday which they never acknowledged and the food was slow. One person in the party kept getting served last after everyone else for all 3 courses. But the prix fixe Mahalo Monday menu was a great value
My lobster bisque, lobster tail amd key lime tartlet were yummy. My husband’s fish was warm, the rest of his plate (rice and baby bok choy) were cold.
This was our first visit to Roy's and it did not disappoint. The food and service were exceptional. Our only complaint would involve the parking which was ridiculous. $32 reduced to $17 with Roy's validation.
Sadly, our steaks were way over cooked. We had a great time being together, but the food was not great.
We had an awesome meal, great ambience, fabulous setting and our host Holiday was amazing and treated us and our kids really well. We will definitely return !
The food was delicious! Fresh and flavorful!!
Service was amazing! Great atmosphere!
I’m sure with the pandemic, wait staff and others were doing all they can to provide fir a good experience but having to wait an hour for a wedge salad and 30 min between drink orders being filled was too much for a $245 bill. I hope they can rectify this in the future.
Food was amazing, bit it took forever to get it!
Made a reservation, not ready when we arrived. We went to outside bar to wait for our table. That was the end of it, no one ever came out to tell us our table was ready. We finally ordered at the bar. Food came out cold fish was rubbery. Not what I expected from Roy’s. We were disappointed. Best thing about the experience was our bar tender. She was personable and efficient.
Food and service were fantastic. Loved the outdoor seating and view. Not a big fan of the music but it was quiet and not distracting. Great night out. Highly recommend!
Always love it at Roy's SanDiego Waterfront. The ambience cannot be beat, right on the boardwalk with harbor view of beautiful yachts and sunsets to the west. Service is always friendly and the manager Sean is visible and keeping everything running smoothly.
So impressed with the staff and of course, the food. Great atmosphere.
Great menu and beautiful outdoor setting for happy hour on Thursdays!
Everything tasted great, but I wouldn’t order the curry I mean lobster bisque again.
This restaurant did not have Edamame beans for appetizers due to the covid. Our meal came out a little slow because they had 3 people ahead of us. if your not in a rush this restaurant would be a good relaxing place to be. The waitress was nice and kept checking back on us to see how the meal was.
Not what I’ve experienced at other locations. Disappointed in fact. I know that these are problematic times times but given the cost, the poor parking, and very slow service I cannot recommend this location. There are quite simply too many other better restaurants to choose from on the San Diego waterfront.
Understaffed. Very long wait for food. Service was good but servers and cooks could not keep up. I would not recommend this restaurant until they get staffing under control. Several tables were so frustrated they got up and left.
Hostesses and kitchen was disappointed. We couldnt get a welcoming greeting by the hostesses. We would never get help if I didnt ask for it. And another thing, we waited for the main course sooo long. I heart the next table was complaining about the same problem too. Unfortunately we didnt have a good experience in that dinner
We were going to have lunch here but decided to have drinks and only share one appetizer because the waitress said the chef wanted us to order everything at once and they will pace it how they want to. I don't like that. At all. It's my meal and I am paying. I want to order different courses when I am ready for them and don't like to be rushed. Won't be eating here again if that is their new standard.
We chose waterfront seating outdoors to take in the sea air, marvel at all the boats in the Marina and people-watch. Our server, Maggie, was great and cared that we had a good time and always returned to make sure everything was as we like it. I had the butterfish, which I've ordered every time (except when they have lobster tail specials). There's nothing in this world better tasting than Roy's butterfish, which we first tasted at Roy's in Kahana(?), Hawaii. Roy's waterfront is our go-to location for birthdays and anniversarys.
Our service from the hostess stand to our server were great, that would have us go back and try at least one more time! Our issues were that not one, not two, but 4 wines that we ordered weren't available. The wines we replaced my wives wine with was okay at best, no comparison to the others we were going to order. Our server comped it which we appreciated, but we never got a good wine and we weren't about to go from bottle to bottle. When our food arrived which was the butter-fish, it very well cooked, but both were room temp at best and the bokchoy was over cooked. It was very busy and we were happy they were, there was a concert happening at The Shell which we attended, so next time I will attempt to go when there is nothing going on to see if things are to the level we expected. The view and atmosphere are hard to beat and man are their restaurants w views in SD, so a small step and we'll be happy to write a great review.
The fish was cold and we were rushed by our waiter.
Food great, water great, prices a bit high but ok, time long ish wait, felt like they wanted us out of there but food took a while
