Roy’s is consistently good. We always look forward to eating there.
Roy's has an incredibly diverse menu that presents some tough choices. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked filet mignon with crab rice and green beans, along with a juicy salmon and rice with a side of grilled mushrooms. The food was quick and service prompt. We will definitely be back to try the sushi!
Our appetizer and entree was excellent. My dessert pineapple cake was burn.
very loud for a special evening for two.. when placing reservation through open table, I specifically requested a private setting . possibly better hostess skills... or better communication with open table.. either or food was amazing !! and my waitress and staff were complete professionals.. see ya soon
Food was outstanding and super tasty. The staff went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner more than especial.
Just had an amazing meal at Roy's. Was very surprised there weren't more people there because it was SO good. Everything was prepared perfectly. The lobster bisque made with coconut milk was just lovely. Split the filter and they actually have us 2 plates and split the entire meal. Service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Very creative menu choices. Scallops were superb.
Birthday celebration for my lady. This is our number #1 spot for date night or celebration event. The food is exceptional, wine is delectable and the service is impeccable. Kudos to Roy's management for making my lovely queen's birthday so special.
Food was delicious, great atmosphere. I love it! Will be going again very soon.
The food was great- excellent filet mignon. The chicken spring rolls were too salty and lacked adequate chicken. The restaurant was too cold. Otherwise, we had an excellent meal, dessert and drinks with a great waiter.
Great service and delicious food.
We were seated at our 5:30 pm reservation on time. Two of their menu items listed were no longer available when we were ordering about 15 minutes after we got seated.
Service and food were excellent as always. This place is literally my favorite restaurant. That statement is significant because I am a true foodie. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed. Try the lobster potstickers, braised beef short ribs, even the sliders are fantastic!
What a disappointment! The service here really wasn't up to par. Our server never even introduced herself and seemed to have little knowledge about the menu. Food was slow to come and wasn't paced out well. The food was just so-so considering the price, nothing memorable at all. Very loud and not the refined dining experience it claims to be.
We enjoyed this outpost of Roy's almost as much as the one in Kauai (Eating House 1849). Excellent service, too! Thank you for making the birthday we were celebrating special.
We love Roy’s butterfish. We had a price fixed menu which was great value. The service was fine but the wait staff never looked to other tables nearby to where they were serving to see if something was needed and we had to call our waiter over at a high volume just to get his attention. I would recommend that the manager train wait staff to be aware of their tables when they are in the room but not specifically serving them. This proved to be rather annoying when food was not hot and other needs.
The server was terrible. He was overwhelmed and would not take responsibility for his own mistakes. The manager appeared to care but at the end of the meal, threw a couple of deserts at the problem but did not fix the issues. We have eaten here many times and this was by far the worst experience we had. Something has changespd there and it's the same Roy's that it was in yeas past.
Food was great; service not so much.
Hostess did not greet us pleasantly.
I used valet parking and when I asked waiter if he could take care of it, he referred me to the hostess. I left table to ask hostess, she left for some reason, then returned only to tell me I had to pay at the bar. So I had to deal with 3 people before I could pay for valet parking!
Waiter took a long time to greet our table. Neither Hostess nor Waiter made any mention of our Anniversary.
Ordered 50% bottle of wine special; check reflected list price. Glass on wine bottle was chipped at the rim upon opening; waiter didn't even notice.
Waiter brought check after we finished dessert without ever asking if we wanted coffee/after dinner drinks, etc. I had a $50 Open Table reward that should have been applied to the check before he brought it. He did not seem to know how to process that.
This was our third visit to Roy's for an Anniversary and previously all have been enjoyable. In the past, we have received a complimentary photo taken at the table, but not this time.
Overall, the food was excellent but the experience was truly below average.
My husband and I went to Roy's for a special dinner and were not disappointed. I had "Roy's Trio," one of the restaurant's signature dishes which features butterfish, salmon, and ahi tuna. It was delicious! My husband enkoyed the braised short ribs. For dessert, we shared the warm chocolate souffle. That was a fitting finale to a memorable dinner!
Attentive servers but 30 minutes to get a salad on the table?! Bread or other offering might have helped. “Butterfish” and seafood sampler were delicious, as were chocolate soufflé and pineapple upside down cake desserts. Gluten free choices clearly identified and tasty.
Back room less noisy but blind doorway between back room/kitchen area to main dining room created risky and frenetic flow for servers—nerve wracking near misses with hot food and serving platters in hand. If you’re spending that much on a meal you shouldn’t have to worry about collisions or safety issues. Quieter and different music could improve ambiance. All staff friendly and helpful.
Truly fabulous. The food selections and preparation we're outstanding. Service was perfect and personable. I have enjoyed Roy's in Newport Beach CA and Hawaii. Baltimore is every bit as good. One of our new favorites. We look forward to returning
Our entire experience was on point. My Mai Tai was delicious and my better half’s Hawaiian Martini was refreshing and unique. I ordered the braised short ribs which were cooked perfectly. It was so tender and seasoned just right. The birthday man couldn’t decide which fish entree he wanted to order so I encouraged him to get the quad mixed plate. He loved all 4 fish dishes but the Mahi Mahi was his favorite. Dessert was a beautiful lava cake. The chocolate cake mixed with the raspberry sauce and creamy vanilla ice cream was so yummy. Can’t wait to go again for our next date night. Our server Dania was a gem.
The food was not to my liking. Over cooked. And the menu prices don’t reflect the quality of food.
Greatest place on earth! Truly, the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream is awesome!
Sadly air conditioning not working or barely, so very uncomfortable.
But food and service were excellent.
For Roy's 30th anniversary, we got their 3-course prix fix selection. Butterfish and short ribs - always excellent along with their chocolate souffle. $30 each.........Unbelievable!
It was warm in the area we sat in. Asked to speak to the manager. She offered to move us to a cooler area and we opted to wait and see if the area would cool after the thermostat was adjusted. The manager never stopped back. It never cooled down. The food was good but the heat was uncomfortable to the point of a bad dining experience.
Food was amazing and the waiter was so professional and sweet. They made us feel special. We loved the food as well:)
Unfortunately the service was awful again. We keep trying to give the restaurant a chance and every time we come back it is always terrible. Getting waited on initially was slow and it only got worse from there. I don't want to have a two and a half hour dinner for a two star restaurant.
Great waiter. David. Made the evening special Perfect service. Very attentive.
Food was great; however it was quite warm in the restaurant during my visit. I began sweating during my meal.
Very disappointing. Our family flew in to Baltimore to help our daughter get moved in for grad school. My husband had seen ads for Roy's and we were excited to go there. The A/C was not working right and it was extremely warm however the hostess, waitress and the person who called to confirm our reservation did not make mention of it until we got there and then we had to ask to move tables. That did not solve the problem and they finally admitted there was a problem with the air conditioning. We ordered and waited a very long time to finally get our salads. My husband and I split a Wedge salad and asked for it to have ranch instead of blue cheese dressing. They brought 2 containers of dressing and when my husband put them on the salad it was blue cheese. So we had to scrape off the blue cheese dressing and ask for more ranch. Since the service was almost nonexistent I had to get up and go ask for the ranch dressing. The food itself was very good, we loved the salmon especially. We had ordered a special dessert plate to read "Congrats" for our daughter which never came and then when the desserts were served we ordered coffee and my husband never got his. No waitress around and by this point everyone was ready to go. Manager should have apologized for the heat and the lack of service in a restaurant of this caliber needs to be addressed.
I have to give a mixed review. The food that my wife and I ordered was excellent. She had Maui Maui and I had a shellfish sampler. Was prepared great and tasted even better. Our server was very personal and accommodating! Although the temperature was not pleasant! The A/C was broken and was miserable hot there! It was so uncomfortable that we could not wait to finish meal and get out of there! It was bad for us but we really felt bad for the workers as they were moving around swiftly to make everyone’s experience pleasant, must have been dying from heat! It was cooler outside and it was in the high 80’s. If we return to Roy’s I will not stay if it is that hot inside in the future! Please repair the A/C!!!
Our food was delicious and the service was great!! There was a large group right next to us so it was a bit loud.
As soon as we were shown our table, we commented how hot it was in the restaurant. The hostess agreed, but no explanation & nothing further. By the end of our meal, we were all uncomfortably hot & sweating & just wanted to leave. As we walked out, we noticed that the bar area was air conditioned & much more comfortable. As far as value goes, my son ordered the scallops for $36 & was pretty upset to see his dinner plate of 3 scallops. He picked one up & said "this, right here, is $12??" Three scallops are not enough to fill anyone up for dinner, much less a teenage boy, so he ended up ordering a sushi roll, in addition to his original dinner. Two of us ordered dessert at the same time that we ordered dinner, and the 2 desserts were brought out without asking the other 2 in our party if they were interested in dessert, despite it being known that we were celebrating a birthday. Not the best dining experience I've ever had.
The entre portions were extremely small and extremely high priced. The fish sampler was very disappointing- much too much sauce that overwhelmed the fish to almost unrecognizable, which came with no sides. It was very uncomfortably hot in the Dining Rooms. I asked several times to increase the AC, which did not happen. A standard, uncomplicated Martini was poorly made, watered down and over priced. Our Server, David, was professional, courteous & apologetic for the misfalls.
We hadn't been to Roys in a few years and I remember it being very good and a good value. Must be under new management- it certainly isn't what it used to be.
Roy's is Hawaii in Baltimore. The food is authentic and delicious, and the restaurant is elegant yet not pretentious, and the service is top-notch. I recommend any of the seafood dishes, and the Roy's private label cabernet is great.
The food was good but today service was a little slower.
The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. A great place to celebrate a special occasion. My twins loved getting a dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate across the page. We also liked the Birthday card from Roy's that was on the table when we arrived. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. She was very accommodating when it came to making sure one of our guest had a vegan meal. At the end of the evening our waitress took a group picture and gave it to us before we left as compliments from Roy's. Overall a very good experience. We would go again.
Noise level was especially high at checkin area which adjoined main seating area & bar - we asked for & were seated in one of the side rooms, which was bit better but still loud - music from overhead speakers was much too loud - why play random music at such a high level ???
Waiter was knowleadgeable & pleasant but not especially 'polished' - hard to explain - maybe speech was too casual & repeated - bit sloppy appearance (clothes & hair).
Food was great!
Price was so-so, even at restaurant week pricing - cost about $130 for two - for food, 1 drink each, tax & parking.
