Roost used to be really good when it first opened, but we returned last night and it felt like a hotel restaurant. Mediocre food (but quite expensive) and mediocre service - we waited about 15 minutes after sitting down before our appetizer order was taken, and our waters were never refilled a single time. It was disappointing for the price.
Went for Thanksgiving buffet. Great selection of food and great service!
Had a delicious Thanksgiving Buffet.
Great time for Thanksgiving. The food at the buffet was tasty, hot and fresh. The service was on point and there was no rush to turn over the table. Overall a very enjoyable dinner.
My wife and I went to Roost for Thanksgiving dinner. The buffet was amazing. So many choices, and everything we tried was delicious. Our server was friendly and engaging. She kept the table cleared of empty plates and made sure our beverage glasses were filled. Thanks for making our Thanksgiving 2021 so special!
The food was ok.
I would like for management to know about an experience that could have been avoided. We were seated over in the patio area after 4p. While there, there was a kid playing with a ball. The ball landed in a nearby water pitcher that was on a server’s station with other water pitchers. The kid put his hand in the pitcher to get the ball out and then continued playing nearby and shortly thereafter he and his family left. His parents unaware of what had just taken place.
I kept my eye on the pitcher of water because I didn’t want a server to grab it and serve the water to someone. When I saw a sever, I let her know about it and told her to take that water to the back and pour it out!
TAKE NOTE: She simply moved the pitcher of water to the center of the serving station table and walked away. So I placed a roll of silverware in the pitcher of water to ensure it would Not be placed in a customer’s glass.
Then moments later a few servers started circling around the pitcher of water and one pointed at me. I got up from my table and explained to them why the silverware was placed there, and again instructed them to remove the pitcher of water and empty it!!! This time, it was taken away. Hopefully, poured down the drain!!!! Who knows!
If the first server I told the incident to had just taken the pitcher away, I wouldn’t have placed a roll of silverware in the pitcher of water. My actions were to ensure the safety of others and not have the water poured in a customer’s glass and well, you know the rest!!!
You can let the restaurant know.
The service was excellent but the food could have been better. The price of what we got wasn't a great value
Our table was by the kitchen where we heard the head chef or whoever was managing it yelling at the wait staff Gordon Ramsey style including cussing at them. This happened several times over the course of our two hours there.
That said, the House Cabernet was very good, the vegetable curry was great , but the portion was enough for the whole table. Even at $18 most of it ended up in the bin.
Because of a concert, the restaurant was booked at the time we preferred and so we took an earlier reservation - 4:15 vs 5:00 p.m. We were looking at dinner reservations and were surprised to learn when we arrived that we were too early and had to settle for lunch when we arrived. The food and service were good but somehow your system should have indicated we were booking at lunch rather than dinner.
The wings were great as an app with cocktail. We had a wonderful steak salad and wine for an early dinner before the event at The Well. Loved our date night with The Roost!
Roost is my go to restaurant! Always good food and I love the fact that they serve lunch as well as dinner!
We came into town for a trip and on our way out we stopped in because we saw there was brunch on Sunday. Highly recommended by other restaurant servers for Sunday brunch and marketed as farm to table food….We interpreted the Brunch Menu being buffet and other brunch items such as steak and eggs, as in we had options. That could be further from the truth. We dealt with it all. However, the hostess did not tell us buffet was the only option as she had to other tables surrounding us later. With covid and the signs stating “social distancing” all over Greenville - that was not done in this place - maybe the tables were but once occupied I could reach behind me and touch the other person. The hostess sat us between two tables occupied tables when there was one nearby open. She also sat our party of 4 at a table for 3 and quickly ran to get a chair and setup for the table after we made the obvious observation to her. But again, we didn’t make a big deal of it. The disappointment came with the food.
The fruit was soggy, the bacon was limp and overcooked, the coffee was watery, the glasses on the table were “dirty” but that was “because of the dishwasher” and was quickly replaced with yet another dirty glass… it was just your typical hotel restaurant with holiday inn express quality food. Made in bulk and sat out for too long, no seasoning / flavor for most of it.
Our server was nice but not really necessary to have a server unless we wanted alcohol, which we didn’t anyway. We easily could have gone to the bar for that.
We cannot recommend this place to anyone for Sunday brunch. Jury is still out for the other meal options but my guess is since it is in a hotel, you should set the bar low. This is far from “farm to table” as some had claimed. We will not be back.
Food was very good . Good selection of craft beer
It was the little things that just made this a place we would not return to. Appetizer chips and beer cheese dip came with mostly crumbs, rather than full-size chips. Butcher board charcuterie seemed to have the same cheese 3 times instead of the 3 cheeses listed on the menu. While the capicola was great, the prosciutto was almost non-existent (small cuts and very few pieces). Dinner entrees and sides were ok, (the garlic green beans were a tremendous standout), but came out lukewarm at best. As we chose to sit outside on their wonderful patio on a pleasant night, the food got cold pretty rapidly. Our server (Bryant) was pleasant, helpful in selecting beers, etc. All in all, we likely will choose another Main Street Greenville eatery to try next.
Excellent food and outstanding service.
We dined before a concert. Glad we had reservations. Waiter was the most polite server we’ve ever had and the food was spectacular.
Awesome, as always. We have been to Roost countless times and have yet to have a bad experience....whether dinner for two or celebratory brunch for 20. Staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. This is a family favorite spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Great service and foods before we took on a comedy show at Bon Secours! Even though they were short staffed, the employees and servers were awesome and courteous. Food was on point and so were the drinks! Thanks as always Roost...we will be back!
Did not dine here. Please remove review.
Four people dining together. One of us got shrimp and grits. They were dried up on one side and too soupy on the other. One of us ordered a side of Brussels Sprouts and never received them. The other two of us were good with ours. Service was slow.
Roost is a great restaurant that provides an inviting atmosphere with outdoor seating option. Our server, Crow, provided excellent service! The food was delicious, 2 of our orders were not made to order correctly but easily fixed.
This restaurant is in a great location and has pretty good food. I’ll keep going back.
We were not expecting Octoberfest and a great Ompah Band. The patio dining is always nice .
Great experience! Loved the porch! Server kept our mimosa glasses full!
Great ambiance and food, as always !!
Our first time. Great atmosphere, our waiter Che was awesome. Highly recommend.
Great food and experience!
Great atmosphere! Wonderful server! Excellent host staff! But most of all, delicious food!!!
The new menu is GREAT! Excellent value and delicious.
It was lovely
Very nice meal with attentive waiter.
Enjoyed the outdoor dining area. The service and menu was very good. I would recommend.
Great outdoor seating and food is great. Drinks are great.
We had a lovely dinner at Roost. The outside seating is wonderful in September- perfect temperature and the fountain provides a soothing sound element. My husband and I both enjoyed our dinner, thanks to the suggestions of Darcy, our delightful server. The pork tacos appetizer was enough as a meal for me, and they were yummy! Thanks, Roost!
I had made a reservation which once we arrived realized was a good move. I requested a patio table once we arrived and luckily the floor manager was able to accommodate as the view and ambiance are much better there than inside. Our drink order was taken shortly after we sat and then about 10 minutes later our food order was taken. 10 minutes later our food arrived and still hadn't received our drinks. Another 10 minutes later our waitress brought our drinks apologizing that the bar had literally just made them. Except for that, we really didn't see her much but we didn't necessarily need her either. Understanding they seemed short staffed, our orders weren't delayed as much as they could have been. My dish was a little salty but overall tasted very good.
Meeting up with friends from another state for a wedding.
Wonderful waiter, food was delicious!
Great night out at Roost! Great environment and service. Very attentive server. I had the shirt and grits which I thought was excellent (with a healthy portion size). Another member of the party had the chicken “not” pie and it was good, but just ok. Overall a nice experience.
Not what was expected from the reviews. I would say mediocre at best. Pretty much typical hotel restaurant food. Overpriced and tasteless.
